The movies are relatively short and I cant expect something like The Vampire, Angry Red Planet or the Screaming Skull to be loaded with extras. Again, just my own humble opinion. I dont think these will be limited runs either but we'll see. Im just thankful for them getting released in HD
I completely forgot that Scream had already announced those two. That only leaves 6 then, so yes, I'd say it's very likely we'll get most of them in the end.

I like to think that if these were limited run, site-exclusive titles Scream would have said, but I suppose it's still up in the air right now.

Bad news fans,

I inquired on the Scream Factory facebook page about Arena as did someone else as we were surprised that it didn't win the votes. They were going to do it, but apparently there are no usable elements to make a new HD master.
I inquired that if the negative or IP is not there, couldn't they use a theatrical print like they did for Cellar Dwellar and just state that this is from the best elements?
Their response was still that there are no usable elements. I can't imagine that MGM doesn't even have one print?!

So, any collectors out there with a theatrical print for Arena 1989, please let Scream factory know so we can maybe get this release happening!

Someone has to have a print. If you want this film on bluray...please let Scream or Jeff or Cliff know so that they can locate the materials.

Let's not let this film sit in full frame hell forever!

Also on a sidenote...please support me in suggesting Barbarians for bluray as its a really fun film. Shout has the rights but their double feature was in full frame and cropped on the sides a bit.

Also keep suggesting other 4 pack titles. The more votes they get, the better chance they will come out.

I'd still love to see Scorchy from Shout or Select as the dvd had an edited master. Same goes for a widescreen 3d version of Treasure of the Four Crowns. The full frame 2d version was a waste of disc space!

Also worth noting:

Just a reminder of the remaining titles on that list:

The Man From Planet X (1951)
The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (1959)
The Bat People (1974)
Vicious Lips (1986)
Arena (1989)
Alienator (1990)

I'd be happy to see the first 3 on that list released. That said, I'd be very surprised if they didn't put out Arena at some point. Hopefully some other MGM titles previously issued by Shout on DVD are also in play:

The Amazing Transparent Man (1960)
Beyond the Time Barrier (1960)
The Snake Woman (1961)
The Time Travelers (1964)
The Evictors (1979)
Exterminator 2 (1984)
America 3000 (1986)
Cyclone (1987)
Time Guardian (1987)

I'd love to see The Evictors get a Blu-ray release.
Exterminator 2 has a very respectable Region Free UK release if they don't get to it, although it looks to have some 50Hz content in the menu.

The Guardian is much gorier and interesting than Contamination .7 in terms of killer tree movies.
Yes The Guardian was better, but that doesnt mean the person inquiring wouldnt like Contamination.7. Hell even I liked it lol

I vote for The Changeling starring George C Scott from 1980. Underappreciated classic in my opinion. The Japanese edition is an upscaled mess. I put in my DVD when I wanna watch it.

That's a Warner title. Pretty much no chance of it showing up with Scream Factory.

I would def. like all of these, but I'm hoping a few of them come in double features, or at least a lower price point. It'll get pretty expensive if they are all released single. Not necessarily ALL, but a couple of pairs would be nice.

Remember, MGM did not make this film, it acquired the assets from Empire Pictures in a bankruptcy proceeding. Bankrupt companies are notorious for not taking care of their libraries.

I saw that sometime last year for the first time. Found it a bit boring TBH. Good atmosphere in some scenes though.

The Changeling and The Hitcher, both owned by that stupid HBO, are my must wanted Horror at this point.

Maybe Charles Band or Peter Manoogian have a print, although I'm not sure Band would be all that cooperative with a film he no longer has rights to...

Really hoping something turns up, it's definitely up there in my wishlist since I'd like to get all the old Empire films in HD.

Not sure if it means anything, but I have Movie Network/HBO and they have the Hitcher on demand. Just added it to my queue the other night. Sometimes I like to believe that some of these streaming outlets are used by companies to gauge if a physical release is worth their time.

This. This is my blu-ray wish. I emailed Jon Mulvaney at Criterion about them releasing The Changeling and his response was to sign up for Criterion's newsletter to learn about future releases. Didn't give a yes or no.

A Criterion release of The Changeling would probably single-handedly revive the "dying" physical media format. It's not really dying but it would sell A LOT of copies lol. It's entirely within the realm of possibility since Warner only licenses to Criterion.
