Species is a definite buy for me. I haven't seen it in a very long time but the cast alone is worth it.

When it comes to aliens on the run or being hunted I still wish someone would get the rights to release Split Second with Rutger Hauer.

Arrow released Killer Klowns here in the UK very nice it is too. Maybe Scream can do something more with it?

Is anyone else confused by Scream Factory basically announcing their entire lineup for the next 6 months over the course of a week? Seems like overkill and too easy for the lesser titles to be forgotten

For April and May they have 14 retro titles slated; I strongly suspect we'll see another 6-8 in June, probably with most of the titles announced this week plus Angry Red Planet (Windows will be later in the summer; we'll likely see at least one of Species, Lawnmower Man and Slither also).

So in short, they'll probably be through all the known titles by August at the latest, and even then we'll see some unannounced titles released on top of that.

Scream has managed to continue to release great titles for nearly 5 years and despite people claiming they are scraping the bottom of the barrel, I for one love seeing these more obscure and older films on Blu-ray plus they still surprise with announcements like Slither and Serial Mom, was thrilled with those two announcements.

I know this is a somewhat obscure movie, but since it was distributed by Universal, I wonder if Scream Factory could release My Little Eye (2002). I watched it for the first time a few years ago, and it was a pleasant surprise. Since reality television is still popular, I think it will be a good seller. Plus it has never been released anywhere in HD, not even iTunes, I think. It also has the benefit of an early role by Bradley Cooper.

I'm not talking about how many films they're putting out this year. I mean it seems strange that they're announcing them all over the course of a few days rather than spread out the news releases. Do we need to start hyping up summer titles in early Feb?

Well Lawnmower Man and Slither were announced in conjunction with Friday 13th in January, and Species obviously wasn't meant to leak yet but once word slipped out they decided to make it official. As for the remaining titles in last year's poll announced yesterday, as I said before it's most likely because they're coming in June, and would be revealed in about 3-4 weeks anyway when Shout put the June titles up for pre-order. Windows was probably the only announcement that seems a little premature and without apparent reason, given that it will be a late summer release (so not listed on Shout's site for another 2-3 months).

It's not too unusual to know a fair few Scream titles in advance (if you go back previous years it was similar, with carry overs from SDCC and Halloween announcements). What is perhaps a little unusual is the volume of titles Scream have slated for April-June at least - we're used to 4 or 5 a month, not 7, so the list of unscheduled titles is inevitably slightly longer. But then, most of these are MGM catalogue titles with little to no extras, so Scream probably just want to get them out there ASAP (maybe the licencing deal forced the issue as well, I've no idea). I doubt they're expecting miracles in terms of sales, but it clears their slate, so to speak (and pads it out).

You're right, nowhere (I must have been thinking of something else, these announcements are coming thick and fast!). In which case that one could be a June title also, which might explain it being announced at this point.

I know "blah blah blah never gonna happen", just saying.
I watched the unreleased DVD about 2 months back for the very first time. I just don't understand the never ending desire to own this film. I'm 100% an advocate for all films ever made seeing a blu ray release in some fashion for preservation's sake, so I get the reasoning behind wanting it to be available for purchase, but with that said the most interesting part of that film is the controversy behind it. The film is a largely forgettable one about unremarkable killers/psychos dressed like clowns. It lacks any hint of originality, has average at best cinematrography, a forgettable sound design, and lacks in both scares and gore. It's the worst kind of horror film... entirely average. It lacks the stupidity to be so bad it's good, it lacks the edgy indie horror elements to be a cult classic, and it lacks the refinement and originality to be considered a good film. It just.... is. A footnote in time with it's biggest claim to fame being that the Director sexually assaulted one of the young boys.

Would it fit in with the Scream Factory line up of films? sure... but we know this film is never going to happen for very clear legal reasons and without the controversy it'd have been forgotten long ago.

Maybe it's like when people discover a DVD or Blu-ray is recently OOP or about to be, and they all of a sudden realize, "Wait a minute, Jennifer 8 wasn't that bad of a movie after all!"

I don't know, this film never seemed that intriguing to me, behind-the-scenes stuff aside. Meh.

I don't have the hoarder gene in me, thankfully. I pick and choose relatively wisely.

Clownhouse is, simply put, like an R-Rated episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?".

Yeah, it has its decent moments, but not really deserving to have any kind of stature like many other horror favorites.

So i'm...honestly kinda happy just with my DVD-R copy. The controversy stuff alone is fine keeping it where it belongs. An oppressed lost classic like "Song of the South", this ain't.

Oh, man, I'd kill for an Are You Afraid of the Dark? series set. Hands down the better of the two (the other being Goosebumps, obviously). At least for me. Genuinely creepy intro, too... Well, when I was 8, anyway.
