I've grabbed them all so far, but they've also been kind of spensy. Titles like THE VAMPIRE, I BURY THE LIVING, or SCREAMING SKULL are def. things I'm happy to pick up, but the SRP is nearly 30 bucks each, there are little to no extras whatsoever. They practically scream "wait for a sale!" for a lot of people. it can be argued that combining some of these into double features would have led to higher sales, perhaps (esp. the titles they owned already). Especially in a month where they have 7 or 8 new releases. A stacked edition of SERIAL MOM on day one seems more appealing than a barren release of INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS on day one, especially with only a few dollars separating the two. I understand people need to buy the titles put out to keep the companies going, but the circumstances have to be right as well. It is a competitive market, and we only have so many $$$$s.

And we know that Scream jumps the gun when it comes to proclaiming something is a bomb. People do wait for sales on things like these, and they put A LOT of stock into pre-orders.

I do think a lot of the 2017 releases should have been double features (I Bury the Living, Bee Girls, Vagrant, What's the Matter with Helen, etc.) But if I recall when they did a bunch of double features a couple years back, some of the Scream Factory fans complained and said the would have rather had singles.

Now it seems these single releases aren't selling either, you just can't make everyone happy.

I don't know what studio those films are licensed from, but I remember hearing that Universal doesn't allow their films to be in double features, so maybe that has something to do with these being singles. But I do agree business-wise, titles like these should be doubles (if possible).

This. They shouldn't try to appease a vocal minority.

That happened with SCARECROWS/DESTROYER, and the "outcry" for the former didn't translate to sales at all. (Though DESTROYER and EDGE OF SANITY make for a cool Perkins double bill.

But these 50s things feel like a no brainer as two-packs, ala the EMPIRE OF THE ANTS/REPTILICUS/TENTACLES/FOOD OF THE GODS releases. The cases are quite pretty, especially with the original poster art spread out along the whole box, but I'd rather save some bucks any day, especially on things like these. SCREAMING SKULL/FOUR SKULLS OF JONATHAN DRAKE for instance. Or I BURY THE LIVING/VAMPIRE. They fit together.

Or cheaper prices, like 19.99 SRP for the 50s stuff instead of 27.99/29.99.

Almost all of this year's more obscure/older releases have been MGM titles, so there should be no problem with doing double features (in theory). I certainly think it might have been shrewd for some of the 50s/60s horror and sci-fi, especially given some of the short run times.

Totally. I think the ones in the poll were all things Shout already had control of, so I can't see a legal probably doubling them up. Especially since they came from 4 packs anyway.

I was so hopeful when they announced them, and a little bummed when they started to trickle as standalones.

I wanna believe they reached a deal with Paramount but that just seems to good to be true. Question though does Paramount control Dreamworks titles such as What Lies Beneath?

What Lies Beneath needs a Blu-ray ASAP, one of my Most Wanted on Blu-ray titles.

Does Scream Factory charge you for pre-orders when you place order or right before they ship them out? I got a new card yesterday and there's a few titles I have pre-ordered on my old card.

facebook whiners derailed that double feature, but the result of Destroyer/Edge of Sanity was pretty cool. i was shocked by Edge of Sanity.

I still have to watch DESTROYER. Watched the other based on your rec. It's a good one.

I will say I was SURPRISED when Scream announced that SCARECROWS would be part of a double feature release, just because I had assumed it would be its own thing. But I was in no way, shape, or form upset by it.

They charge credit cards when they ship. I recently got a new card as well and had pre-orders on my old card, so I contacted them about changing the card on my orders.

They would not change the credit card on my pre-orders for security reasons, so I had to cancel and re-order everything.

For me, 2017 has been their best year ever. All of these 50's (and a few 70's) titles have been a dream come true.

Yeah, I'm totally into the output (no surprise there). It's the methods of release I find taxing.

I hear ya (on both price and lack of extras). Regarding the former, you should have jumped on that B2G1 sale at Target, I picked up a half-dozen of these titles for roughly $13 a pop. For the latter, The Man From Planet X will have two commentaries, so at least that one won't be bare-bones. But they could, at minimum, have included trailer galleries for the other 50's titles, plus the Trailers from Hell versions for all of these.

I'm spot-checking THE SCREAMING SKULL. The print looks gorgeous, and there's a fun 12 minute "Making Of" featurette with female lead Peggy Webber! It also has the Mystery Science Theater episode that featured SKULL, but that's of less interest to me.

I had forgotten about that one, thanks - it's done by Ballyhoo and is narrated by Tom Weaver. Kudos to SF/Daniel Griffith for locating the 90-year-old Webber, and to her for being game enough to do the interview!
