Another title for August 29: The Manster

https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...or/the-manster

I believe this was part of a United Artists Horror laserdisc set but never had a DVD release from MGM. It's public domain but I imagine MGM hold the vault materials. I wonder if Scream might release Red Planet Mars, the only other title on those UA sci-fi/horror sets which did not get a DVD release from MGM (between Kino, Scream, and Olive, quite a few of the films on those sets have now been released on Blu-ray).

If Scream are specifically acquiring older titles to release on Blu-ray (unlike the recent upgrades I don't believe they've held the rights to Manster for several years, but I could be wrong), we can't rule out them having Attack of the Puppet People and Doctor Blood's Coffin, both of which have been licenced (but not to Kino).

Excited for The Manster, but I've not seen Timebomb.

In any event I don't think everyone who wanted Friday and missed out was a cheapo or anything, I'm speaking in generalities. I worked overseas for two years and bought nothing and missed out on stuff because of that, so I feel your pain. I'm just saying in general I don't think that market is who Scream aims for. A box from them would still be successful though, for reasons I stated.

A Paramount deal is still a dream though, at this point.
Don't forget about the amazing plethora of extras for The Thing as well and I think for Firestarter. I don't own Firestarter though.

Well at least it's something new, that's about the kindest thing I can say about it (I wasn't a fan). Hoping for some better MGM titles (like After Midnight) soon.
Have this on DVD, think it was free with something? Anyway, it's not great at all. Think you'd have to be a real fan to spend SF prices on this.

Shout has the rights to Fargo? Who knew. Is there anything different about the steelbook release other than packaging?

I've never heard of Timebomb, but the Patsy Kensit factor intrigues me. I had a mad crush on her circa 1989-early 1990s.

10,000 limited? Give me a break calling it that. If someone in the US cannot get one of those then they must be in a coma...glad all those will get one but limited to me would be 3,000 or less. What do you all think?

On a totally different plane altogether...

If Scream Factory gets Paramount titles, then Shout Select will presumably have Paramount titles as well?

And, if so, mayhaps a Shout Select Blu-ray of Pretty in Pink?

I can hope.

Just steer this post back into Scream Factory territory, away from all of that boring romance and kissing stuff, mayhaps a Scream Factory Blu-ray of Prophecy (1979)?

One would assume that Pretty in Pink would be a given if a deal is reached as it seems like such an obvious pick for Shout Select. I posted this a week or two ago in regards to my hopes for Comic con if a Paramount deal is announced.

Comic-con would go nuts if Scream Factory ended up announcing..

-Tales from the Darkside: The movie
-April Fool's Day
-My Bloody Valentine '81
-Fire in the Sky
-Pet Sematary Two
-The Deadzone

and a Friday the 13th Box Set of their own.

and Shout Select Announced:

-Adam's Family Values
-Coneheads
-Beavis and Butthead Do America!
-Wayne's World Collection
-Big Top Pee Wee
-Pretty in Pink

I'm still mystified that PIP has not been released by anyone. Breakfast Club was maybe the pillar of teen 80's movies along with Sixteen Candles, but PIP is a VERY close second. The soundtrack alone is possibly the best of the 80's and in DTS-MA.... The Smiths..The Furs..New Order..Echo..OMD.. would never sound better.

And since common sense is reigning.. what about Some Kind of Wonderful...

Like Another 48 hrs. The original could also use another release as the original release is barely better than DVD.

Hopefully they can release the long talked about original cut to Another 48 HRS before Paramount made Walter Hill remove 25 minutes of footage. I'd love to see that get a release.

And if we go down the path of alternate cuts it's time for my yearly wish of the Paranormal Activity 3 Alternate cut. Since that film has essentially 2 completely different versions which were filmed/compiled with only one having seen release it's easily one of my most wanted wishlist titles.
