Somewhat related...is it true that Lionsgate may actually own Fright Night Part II in the US? If so, any chance of a Vestron release? I ask because I just blew $40 on the German mediabook and when I do something like that a US release usually follows.
Off the top of my head, Starz/Anchor Bay should still hold licenses for John Carpenter's Halloween, Halloween 4, Halloween 5 and Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 and 2. They would also hold distribution rights to dozens of contemporary films and TV series that were produced, coproduced and/or distributed by Anchor Bay and most of The Weinstein Company films from 2011 - Present.

Fright Night Part II is up in the air, along with all of the films that were produced by Vista Organization. I think the rights have either reverted to the estate of Herb Jaffe, to Mort Engelberg or to some combination of the two.

Have Anchor Bay released any UHD discs yet? Would love a UHD of Halloween.

Generally speaking, yes. If the license expires, the rightsholder / owner may negotiate terms for a new license with any label they want.

Probably some combination of developing a familiarity with the label's holdings, reading up on public copyright records, access to industry publications, dealing with sales agents, and trustworthy word of mouth. Even something as simple as checking the fine print on the back of a previous release or looking up credits in IMDB could help clear up ownership, but could also only be a starting point.

None, to my knowledge.

Not a rumor, it will be happening in the next week or two. Cliff will probably be with Jeff.

Considering all of the double dips they could do with Universal and MGM titles, I think they're covered for a while.

Would it have even less color than the current Blu-ray?

Anchor Bay doesn't exist anymore - or, at least, they're about to cease existing. Lionsgate now owns the brand; they haven't said what will happen to the label but it would make sense to consolidate it into LG as the studio has done with countless other companies.

I'm not sure if Jaffe had anything to do with the Fright Night sequel. Don't remember seeing his name in any of the credits (my memory could be failing, though )

Yeah, podcasts. I never really expect to glean much out of these uncontrolled conversations. It's just supergeeks talking over each other most of the time. I expect even less in the "let's reveal upcoming titles" category - just a series of vague pronouncements and "we're trying to get it but it's difficult" type of answers.

They've historically been useful in determining what has been selling and what hasn't, and as a result what folks can/should expect moving forward. To be honest I'm expecting lot's of talk about the upcoming steelbooks, a small amount about sales, and if we're lucky perhaps a comment or two regarding the paramount situation. No titles need to be announced, but just knowing that Scream Factory has gained some access top the catalog would be huge and very noteworthy. It would also make the lead up to comic con WAY more exciting.

Yeah, I'm under the impression that the Anchor Bay "brand" is being phased out.

Jaffe was a producer on Fright Night, Part II and I believe he was a co-owner of the Vista Organization with Mort Engelberg.

filmaf.com is usually a good place to start to find company info. It's not as in-depth as you're looking for, though.

Wasn't there supposed to be another SF sale on Amazon this Month?

Plenty of wishing and hoping but no official word. Last year at this time Amazon had a sale and so folks were hoping another would materialize before the month was over but time is running out. Scream Factory will likely have their annual summer website sale the 2nd or 3rd week of June.

I'm guessing these will be September's titles given that they're due to be announced next week anyway. Would be interesting if something from October or later was revealed also.

When will the podcast be available tbw? Friday?

Fingers crossed for at least one if not two 80's slashers.

Realistically, I'm not expecting any "left-field" titles or one-offs - just more studio stuff. Maybe they'll finally confirm a Collector's Edition of Misery.

Yeah I think a CE of Misery is likely for September/October, along with CE's of Child's Play 2 and 3, maybe Tremors also. If Criterion plan on releasing Silence of the Lambs later in the year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hannibal and possibly Red Dragon also. In terms of 'new' CE's from the MGM and Universal catalogues, Matinee is probably the big one, though it wouldn't surprise me if they gave Darkman 2 and 3 the treatment.
