Except this won't be sold in stores. It has an 8 digit sku. So if they don't announce it it would mean people who pre-ordered it would just randomly receive it in the mail. I don't see it happening. I just want SF to announce Hell Night already and give us the correct release date. What the Hell is the hold up?

"In Stores" "On Shelves" "streets" "Released" it all means the same thing to me. Sega did it with the Sega Saturn back in the day, and considering somewhere around 90+% of the films we're all purchasing are coming from online sales anyways I don't see what the big deal is. People would just start receiving orders randomly and word of mouth would spread so that others would begin ordering. It'd be Scream Factory's way of getting back at all the folks that took the wind out of their sales by complaining about it not being announced at Comic-con. We could all use a nice surprise every now and then, and since Scream Factory won't be able to recapture the magic of an announcement at this point, why not get some of that buzz by suddenly releasing the product with no announcement.

I just don't see that happening. They would also be losing out on direct sales from their own site without an announcement and pre-orders. I don't see them making that kind of sacrifice just to get back at everyone. It would be the stupidest thing they could do imo. Now, I'm not sure what the hell is going on with this release or what problems they're having but they need to make an official announcement because this is ridiculous at this point.

A Dark Song is down to 14.49 on Amazon. I've heard good things and have had it preordered for a while. Has anyone here seen it?

Yep, i liked it a lot.
It's a slow burn with great atmosphere & the ambiguity of the two characters motives & purposes really add suspense to the film.

Not your typical horror film by any means... It's arguable whether it's actually horror in my opinion, but a well made interesting film none the less. $14.49 is a solid price for this one. I feel like $12.99 is going to be the sweet spot for most folks where their enjoyment of the movie will match the perceived value, but $14.49 is nothing to shake a stick at. This film had the flow of the A24 film The Invitation, and/or to another Scream Factory release "Shelley" in my opinion. All 3 are worth owning as far as I'm concerned, but I would consider A Dark Song to likely be the most divisive of the bunch.

You should buy it. Even if you don't like it I'll give you $12 shipped for it so you'll make out at worst with only the cost of a rental.

Hey I might just take you up on that if I don't like it. I'm for sure getting it. It looks pretty damn cool to me.

I've been wanting to check out Shelley but the blu ray is like twenty dollars on Amazon. I just discovered though that it's on Netflix so I'll give it a watch before I decide to buy it.

The Invitation kinda sounds like that Bateman film The Gift that came out a year or so ago, which I did like.

They're nothing alike, but they're both fantastic.

Watched one of my guilty pleasures tonight, Daughter of Darkness with Mia Sara and Anthony Perkins. Would love Scream to pick it up.

As for good blind buys from that list?
Lord of Illusions
Id say Childs Play but there will be a box soon
Tales/Vault is great but only if you like classic old school.

Top Choices:
From Beyond
Lord of Illusions
Slumber Party Massacre
Troll/Troll 2

Second Wave Choices:
The Burning
TCM2
Slither
Dolls

Child's Play is great, but I'd tell you to just pick up the new box set in a month instead and get the full collection. The other titles in your list are YMMV and aren't easy to recommend.

I'm looking forward to getting American Gothic and Silent Night Deadly Night on blu ray. I wish Scream Factory would release Cheerleader Camp (1987). I would also like to see them try releasing some more TV films like Strays (1991) and The Haunting of Sarah Hardy.
The Purple People Eater (1988) also needs a release. I remember watching this as a child and havent seen it in 25 years. It is one of Neil Patrick Harris' first films.

Not SCREAM factory, but the Shout factory thread is a barren wasteland:

I watched Ninja III last night, finally catching up to some of the huge haul I got from that Shout sale.

The first ten minutes of this film are the greatest action scene ever filmed. I love that it starts out insane/hilarious and just keeps rapidly escalating all the way to the end of it, with the hundreds and hundreds of gunshots aimed at the ninja like he's Michael Myers. If the rest of the film had anything like this opening, it would be one of my favorite movies of all time. As is, there's still plenty of outrageousness and it's a really fun movie, but man. Those first ten minutes are a true thing of beauty. I am going to have to rewatch them over and over.

The transfer is ugly as sin, but oh well.

Ninja III: The Domination is a 1980s masterpiece. It's so ridiculous, but I cannot look away to save my life.

Is it something like The Stabilizer or Miami Connection?

Actually, Ninja III is a Scream title.

It looked really waxy and featureless in many sequences, especially in long shots outdoors, like the much maligned Cat People or those older studio releases like the first three Scream movies. It didn't bug me since in most cases I'm one of the people that just wants the movie in whatever form is available. Just seemed worth saying since some people like to freak out if you say anything good about a release that doesn't have a good transfer

Oh my Dear Sweet Lord, I just rocked out the latest Shout/Scream Factory back-to-school sale...

The Paul Naschy Collection II - $44.78
Killing Ground - $13.98
Attack Of The Puppet People - $16.09
Into The Night - $16.09
Dudes - $17.45
The Survivalist - $13.98

The total damage is $122.37

For some reason, the site would not take any additional discounts off of Misery, but I can bide my time on that one. I've got Dawn of the Dead (2004) on pre-order from Amazon right now already, and I'm just going to stick with that, since their price will inevitably drop.

EDIT: I belatedly realized that there's already a thread for the sale in the Deals sub-forum. Sorry 'bout that. I'll keep this post here, however, just in case some passerbys are unaware of the sale, just as I was until now.

Those are some good deals, I wasn't planning on buying anything because the Kino sale cleaned me out, but the Naschy set is very hard to turn down at that price
