I placed another pre-order on the Shout Factory website, this time for Hell Night, Misery, and American Gothic.

This whole world is going downhill fast, and we'll all probably be dead by December, but it's still great to see that some awesome movies are coming out on Blu-ray.

Between the Criterion release of Le Samouraï and this Scream Factory release of Hell Night, I'm pretty fired up.

It's not your average slasher movie. Whoever said it was like a cross between Terror Train and The Funhouse was right on the money.
I would call it a cross between TOWER OF EVIL and THE INITIATION. Let's all get in on this.

Maybe this is common knowledge but I just put two and two together. I read oh, the horror every day. Love your reviews!

Edit: Though it looks like you left awhile back...

I, sadly, haven't reviewed anything over there in a few years now due to "real life". Brett's the one keeping Oh, the Horror alive day-to-day. He is a review machine and puts up a new one every single day, pretty much.

I didn't mean to take such a long sabbatical but real life just sort of took over... got married, bought a house, had a baby...

I am, however, planning to do a few articles and reviews for the site in October.

I've fancied the idea of starting a review site, but I've learned in the past that it's more fun when I'm just goofing off and writing stuff at the drop of a hat on forums like this instead of feeling obligated to write something for a site of my own. It starts to seem too much like a job at that point.

You should start a blog, Owl, and just cut and paste reviews into it whenever you post them in the forum. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would enjoy scrolling through your archived reviews.

Agree with this. Owl has gotten me to buy a few titles during sales based on his reviews alone.

Add original poster art above each entry, and vintage VHS art below, and you're really cookin'.

You could call it G.O.R.E - Great Owl REviews!

For whatever it's worth, Owl, I think the most popular post I've ever made is now "Great Owl should get a review blog".

Silent Night Deadly Night is up for pre-order with that beautiful cover. I've always used Amazon, but I want this ASAP.

So, I'm wondering, does my shipping speed really matter when their whole pitch is to get it to you two weeks early?

When you pre-order directly from Scream, do you get charged right away or when it ships?

December looks like a pretty stacked month already, so I wonder if Scream might leave it there. Of the remaining SDCC titles, Scream have already said that The Strangers, Cyborg and Drag Me To Hell are coming early next year, which only leaves Eye of the Cat as a possible candidate (of the known titles) for December. I guess it's possible we might see that announced tomorrow to round out the month, though you would have thought they might have announced that one before Hell Night and SNDN.

From what I remember they place a hold for a few days then give it back to you until it ships then they charge you. But unlike Amazon and other retailers, if you don't have the funds at the time it ships, they just cancel your order without giving you a chance to make a payment. Which sucks, that happened to me with the Carrie Limited Edition which was sold out. They shipped 3 weeks early and I didn't have it at the time. Ended up losing out on the LE
