To me, Scream Factory announcements always felt kind of random. No real rhyme or reason, unlike Arrow, who typically make announcements the second Wednesday (formerly Fridays) of the month. Anyway, I could really use some announcements on the same level as The Gate II, which is currently the only SF title I'm looking forward to. I'll take even lame films from 1980-92, as long as they're horror. I'm not into 50's/60's sci-fi/horror at all.

Yeah. The channels are reversed on the 2.0 track.

Some interesting new titles from the depths of the MGM catalogue for April. I wonder if Scream might be saving a couple of bigger announcements for April for the next couple of days? There's also a cheaper re-issue of the Troll 1/2 double feature coming, minus the bonus disc:

In all fairness, how can it be? At least these are all Blu-ray debuts, I don't think Full Moon High or Crucible of Horror even got legit DVD releases.

Might as well finish off the Larry Cohen titles with Wicked Stepmother, I've no doubt it'll come at some point this year. Scream very likely also have Doctor Blood's Coffin and The Falling. And they might as well finish off upgrading the remaining titles MGM previously released on DVD (that are still with MGM), there's not many left now by my reckoning:

The Beast with a Million Eyes
Pharoah's Curse
Voodoo Island
Konga
Old Dracula

The Attic (I think this has rights issues of some sort)
The Caller
Predator: The Quietus
Spellcaster
The Immortalizer
Night Visitor

Buried Alive
Mom
Panga

If the terrible Superbeast is coming, I imagine all of the MOD titles are candidates.

There won't be any substantial "big" announcements any longer so long as Scream Factory continues to primarily focus on the MGM catalog. Re-releases of well known films, steel books, and then occasional offerings such as what was announced today are it unless new agreements can be reached. It's a shame since the Corman catalog still has a handful of really fun requested titles along with a mountain of other films to mine though that seems untouchable for the time being.

Personally I'm a bit surprised that Scream Factory hasn't worked a deal with Full Moon to distribute collectors editions of some of their released films. I'd more than likely throw down some cash for improved editions of The Pit and The Pendulum, Castle Freak, Tourist Trap, among others.

I’m pretty sure he meant the quality, not the quantity.

I'm in for Daughters of Satan, Crucible of Horror, and Superbeast, for sure.

These more obscure Scream Factory releases should be viewed as the other side of the coin, instead of being viewed as the bottom of the barrel.

Many of my favorite releases from this label have been the under-recognized surprises.

Full Moon High is a possibility, but not a priority (sort of like Rockula).

I feel like if there was ever a rule of thumb with announcements it's that there should always be at least one horror film from the 1980's with each batch of announcements (preferably an 80's slasher given that these tend to go over the best with folks), and there should never be more than 3 re-releases (Land of the Dead, The Strangers, etc.) in any given announcement cycle. Maybe it's just me, but when there is at least one solid 1980's release in the bunch the other announcements seem to go over a bit better.

Which of those two would you say is the most entertaining? I'm not really interested in Superbeast or Full Moon high, but the other two have piqued my interest enough to at least consider them. I feel like my horror film library has a significant lack of 60's and 70's horror, however more often than not I find myself uninterested (if not down right bored) with much of what was released during this time.

I like to use the Stephen Thrower Book to pin down more late 60's and 70's exploitation horror and have created a list of titles for myself, but nothing from Scream Factory ever really jumps out at me. I'm also tragically behind on my Code Red purchases and so I just don't know if I'll ever find the motivation to jump into these lesser known titles Scream Factory releases.

Full Moon High is an 80's horror-comedy.

For me, the 1970s is sort of like this bottomless well of awesome horror movies. Just when I think that I've viewed or purchased them all and I think that I am scraping the bottom of the well, I stumble across many more that that I had never heard of before.

The 1980s was the most fun decade for horror cinema, but I think that the 1970s was the best decade for horror in terms of innovation and quality. It's tough to rank one decade over the other.

Yeah, I worded my thoughts poorly. I was thinking straight horror and not so much anything in the horror comedy realm when I typed that, but I will say it does appear that Scream Factory wasn't too far off from what I stated with this batch.

There seems to be an endless supply of erotic 70's witch/lesbian/torture movies. Almost every label has announced and/or already released several of them. I think the majority of them are actually the same films released under different titles. Never heard of Full Moon High. Is this a ripoff of Teen Wolf?

It predates Teen Wolf by four years.

Give me semi-obscure 70's titles making their post-VHS debuts over repackaged 80's mainstream hits any day. I'm excited for all four of these.

I'm still waiting for someone to put out Inseminoid and Alien Predators.

Also, HD upgrades of Dead Space (the Forbidden World remake with Bryan Cranston) and The Terror Within would be nice.

I didn't realize that there was a remake of Forbidden World. The original movie is so much fun.

I love that the two female scientists, played by June Chadwick and Dawn Dunlap, walk around the laboratory in clear stripper high heels and have a propensity to have long serious conversations while washing each other's hair in the shower.
