I’m pretty sure The Stepford Wives is a title being held hostage by some independent rights holder and it’d take a minor miracle to see it released.

Yep. Same independent rights holder that is keeping Sleuth (1972) from seeing a release, too, I believe.

I think that's the Bristol Meyers-Squib package. THE HEARTBREAK KID and SLEUTH are in that package, IIRC. There may be Palomar titles in there as well, such as THE STRANGE VENGEANCE OF ROSALIE.

I'd say the tone's more like something like Commando, where it's obvious that the people making it knew how silly it was, but it's mostly filmed as if it was a serious movie with one-liners and really silly/stupid events (hello, V8). It veers into supernatural events with exorcisms and all.

I think it's a bit more self-aware than something like Death Wish 3 or Invasion USA. It's not as awful as a Troma movie or a Troll 2. But I don't think anyone involved with it thought they were making Enter the Dragon. It's outrageous and fun, not a stupid winking parody.
I wasn't trying to imply in any way that Ninja III is a bad movie. I'm actually a big fan of Troll 2 and consider it a pretty decent film, for what it is. I like both films very much.
If you've seen the documentary on Troll 2, "Best Worst Movie", the director was actually aiming to make a serious film apparently, and seems to get quite offended at any implication that it's not high art. I don't think Ninja III was aiming nearly quite that high, but I do think it is very redolent of the era in which it was produced.

I’m willing to bet Scream will start releasing Warner’s Hammer Horror films, with Horror of Dracula and Curse of Frankenstein being the Halloween releases this year.

With eventual re-releases of bare bones titles like The Mummy and the Dracula sequels ..

If Shout/Scream really is working with WB now, then I have two requests. House on Haunted Hill 1999 (I know about the German release, like to avoid importing if possible) and Death to Smoochy.

If House on Haunted (1999) is with WB, I could definitely see SF picking up that one and I would be more than happy to buy it as well.

Does anyone think Archive titles will make the cut of movies Shout Factory licenses from Warner? I think not but I'm sure some of those titles will sell well if they were fully-loaded Collector's Editions. It's a long shot but maybe SF could put out an uncut version of Killer Party.

I don't see why not, there's a number of Archive titles I'd like to see. Killer Party seems like an obvious choice for the line, though I suspect it would be a standard release rather than a CE.

Killer Party uncut be nice.

And who agrees that Beetlejuice in a CE in 4K or 2K restoration with extras galore be awesome too?

Beetlejuice is a minor classic. Warner put out a nice Blu-ray but it's the kind of movie that deserves better.

I agree it needs more than just trailer and 2 episodes of the animated show, it needs commentaries, 2K or 4K restoration, deleted scenes, featurettes and all that.

I'm willing to bet that won't happen. How much you want to wager?

FYI, a documentary was produced that functions as the extras for those barebones WB releases. And the UK version of The Mummy has quite good ones. They were initially listed on the artwork for the US version that WB released!! I guess WB decided at the last minute they didn't want to spend the money.

Major classic. One of my all time favorites, infinitely rewatchable. I'll take a Shout select of Pee Wee's Big Adventure as well. I used to love Burton

Anyone knows who might own this rare little Australian film with Judy Davis? It was only released on VHS and then faded into oblivion. Never seen it but I love Davis and the trailer looks interesting. Would be a nice addition to Shout or Scream.

I still recall in the halcyon days of DVD that WB claimed to be working on a special-edition of Beetlejuice (this was around the time many of their original barebones "snapper-case" releases were being re-released with bountiful supplements, many requiring 2-discs). Beetlejuice was originally a 1998 release and when that "special-edition" saw the light of a laser in 2008 it contained...some cartoons. I can't help but wonder if no one especially wanted to participate in a proper special-edition? WB certainly had enough time to put something together and as I wrote, had done so for many of their other titles.I understand why certain behind-the-scenes consternation kept Poltergeist or The Witches of Eastwick from special-editions (or on-set tragedy as with Twilight Zone-The Movie); was there anything like that with Beetlejuice?

There are rumours that Scream have at least a couple of Hammer titles. I wouldn't be surprised if these were Dracula AD 1972 and Satanic Rites of Dracula, though the likes of Crescendo and Hysteria are also quite possible.

I still think Warner will want to release Horror of Dracula and Curse of Frankenstein themselves, as the apparent restoration efforts must have been time-consuming and expensive. If Scream somehow did get these, they could surely make Collector Editions out of them, which would be unusual for pre-1970 titles in their catalogue.

I saw Slither, slipcover and all, at Best Buy, and decided to pull the trigger at last.

It's a goofy movie in so many ways, but I'm in that sort of mood.

Apparently the "Unrated" version of DRAG ME TO HELL on Scream's Blu isn't actually the full unrated version as released on Universal's Blu -- it's missing a violent shot during one scene and contains the PG-13 black blood instead of the Unrated's red blood in another.
