Both parts 1 and 2 are unlike any of the "lost footage" films out there, past or present. There is a true sense of death, despair, shock, the unknown and yes, even realism, to these two films. Parts 3 and 4 on the other hand...

I thought the Rec films were Lionsgate property?

Anyway, not very excited for this. Not really a fan of found footage films. I've seen the first Rec and thought it was entertaining but had no interest in seeing the sequels.

Here hoping the big announcements are still to come.

Very cool announcement. I'm going to pick up all of the recently announced titles (Aside from The Bride, I just can't with that one.) I'm happy to increase my support for this line by getting more of the smaller titles, that will help to get more and more of the biggies we want in the future.

So my [REC] speculation was on the money, I imagine Cliff was crucial to that one.

I know they said there would be more announcements next week, but I'm not so sure given they've announced 2 releases since then. They also had this to say regarding SDCC:

This would seem to suggest they're done with September (for retro releases anyway), but we'll wait and see.

The [Rec] Films are Sony titles in the states.

Man, awesome announcement! I already own all 4 movies on blu-ray, but will definitely be picking this up!

This has got me pumped for what is in store for October.

Tom Petty had it right...the waiting is the hardest part. I have a small list of wants but if they announced at least the Critters films I would be satisfied. A re-mastered 4K Tremors would be nice too.

Okay, it was BarnDoor that made this prediction. That's right. We thought they wouldn't do it since they don't have much international horror, but I guess we (or I, anyway) were/was wrong.

I think this will be something of an exception, given a few things:

1) Perhaps most importantly, the [REC] films are with a major studio, which often isn't the case for foreign horror films. Goes without saying these will be easier to acquire.

2) The first at least is probably one of the most high profile foreign horrors of the last decade or so, I guess they don't see much risk here.

3) As mentioned, the first is a favourite of Cliff, which goes some way I suspect. For example, I suspect we never would have got the Naschy films without him being there, and surely more besides.

I LOVED the first one, but for whatever reason I never saw the subsequent films?

Are they any good?

What about Cannibal Holocaust or Last Broadcast or REC in terms of found footage?

You think the first REC was lightning in a bottle?

Bride is least of the bunch but the other sony, WB and Corman titles are ones i cannot wait for!

Maybe next week 3 more titles for september hoping one will be WB, one Sony and one Universal.

I don't think they are done with september ones as they said next week they got more announcements they said.

Wouldn't a couple of more Universal titles be cool? i mean if they announced Jaws 2 CE or any of my suggested Universal titles that be cool. Or Critters 1 and 2 CEs.

IMO, part 2 is very good, 3 is okay and 4 is terrible.

What made you speculate about REC? Just seems a bit random. I'm curious how SF got the rights.

Well REC and others are owned by Sony and IFC, so it was on some people's wishlist you know.

It being a Sony title (along with most if not all of the sequels it seems). I think I was speculating about possible CE's from the Sony deal and that was the last one I mentioned, and that sparked a discussion about the possibility of that and who owned what in terms of the series.

No on all. I have tried numerous times and that type have very little replay value to me which is what my collection is all about. I think the only one I have watched more than once is Cloverfield and that was on TV and nothing else on.

I'm a weird collector, I don't have hundreds of titles like some of you do...I used to but I weeded them all out. I even test myself every once in a while and rebuy a title I think I should like to see if I was wrong on why I got rid of it in the first place and every single time I confirm it and still don't want it. I'm very in-tune with my tastes. I'm not saying my collection is great...in fact I'm sure some of you would laugh at some I kept but for whatever reason they click with me and I can play them over and over and never get sick of them. They just push my buttons and connect with me. It's a good feeling to look on the shelf and love each and every one.

I'd say the REC collection is a pretty big release, but they're still playing it very tight right now, releasing these lesser known properties. They've been on a Sony kick, it seems. It also seems like they can't do a CE with a Sony property. They must know the Warner titles are the ones everyone is clamoring for. I say Critters Collection for October; no telling what they might have for SDCC.

In addition to a Sony CE (be it a new-to-Blu title or otherwise), I'm also waiting to see if they announce a title previously issued by Mill Creek on DVD (let alone Blu). To date, I'm pretty sure everything they've announced shows no indications of being with Mill Creek (let's leave aside Strait-Jacket, which Mill Creek announced after Scream's reveal).

For those unaware, a reminder of the complex situation surrounding the Sony titles.

What if next week they announce Fright Night CE and Fright Night 2 CE? i mean Fright Night CE is perfect for those who don't have Eureka's BD but for others who already own Eureka's BD of the original can finaly get Fright Night 2 in a CE and their collection can be complete.

I mean Fright Night 2 is owned by the Vista Company which Shout did one of their titles so definitely could happen this year next week or in July mostly at comic con.

Critters 1 and 2 will most likely get collector's editions and are the most loved films from that franchise while the other sequels can be in a double feature i believe and even in a boxset for anyone who wants all 4 movies.

Yet what if next week they announce a Universal title like Tremors or any Chucky sequel or another Sony title like Wolf CE or Screamers or Hardcore or or Happy Birthday to me CE or 8MM? or WB like Deadly Friend CE or Twilight Zone the Movie CE?
