I doubt it, at least for a long long while. 4K discs are really expensive to master, not to mention the restoration costs, for it to be profitable for a smaller company like Shout, especially since they are releasing niche films that only appeal to a very specific market.

As far as I know, it's just a private equity firm based somewhere in Texas. Their bid was considered a big surprise. They paid $300+ million in cash and assumed something like $125 million in debt. It should be interesting to see what they do with the film assets they purchased.

I don’t see why not. Shout is starting to release 4k UHD titles, so there might be a chance. Fingers crossed.

I’d imagine they will start dipping their toes in over the next couple years... Kino is already planning a UHD of The Good, The Bad and The Green For next year.

Anyone else noticing the wave of movies that Shout Factory has been adding to Amazon Prime? It's possible they only have the streaming rights, but it could also hint at potential blu-ray releases?

Some of the titles include:
The Stepfather 2
The Stepfather 3
Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael
All Of Me
The Company Of Wolves
Doppelganger
The Last Seduction
(which I believe Scorpion announced at one point)
One-Eyed Monster

Until they announce a UHD for something other than an IMAX documentary, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Most of those are Corman or ITV titles, so I don't see why they wouldn't have home video rights also in most cases.

Sounds like they might have gotten their hands on some ITV titles? Heck yeah!

As of right now, here are some of my October predictions:

- Critters Collection
- The Stepfather Trilogy (maybe w/ remake since they have a deal with Sony)
- Jason Goes to Hell (collector's edition)
- Jason X (collector's edition)
- Freddy vs Jason (collector's edition)
- The Company of Wolves (collector's edition)

Yes, The Last Seduction is coming from Scorpion but they have yet to start on the remastering.

Doppelganger is such an awesome chunk of B-movie cheddar, I'd buy the shit out of that one. The whole movie is so WTF that you're practically numb by the time you get to the ridiculous/fantastic conclusion.

Well, this is definitely interesting... seems like beIN Media Group (or Miramax) also has the Revolution Studios and Morgan Creek libraries. Wonder when that happened.

EDIT: It appears they've had a TV and digital distribution deal before beIN acquired Miramax.

Anyone hopes this week or next week they'll announce the extras to In The Mouth of Madness?

Company of Wolves CE would be awesome since Shout/Scream has ITC and if they announce it at the end of this month or next month even at the comic con even Critters movies, Beetlejuice, Stepfather sequels and New Line Jason movies that be awesome.

Well if it's possible from the WB collection - how about 5 Million Miles to Earth aka Quatermass and the Pit.
The Universal for Island of Terror is better than the UK one, maybe the WB elements are the same?
Suggestion.

Quatermass and the Pit isn't owned by Warners.

Just a couple of more weeks or so until SF breaks out the big guns. I forget - are their SDCC announcements for the coming year or are they for October and up until December?

It's usually about half and half, I believe?

Some releases that dribble out until December and then at least one or two that won't show up until next year.
