We're two weeks out from SDCC.

We all just need to hunker down and wait it out!

It still seems pretty lackluster considering. I just did some quick calculations and came to this (keep in mind this is Scream Factory Branded Releases Only) and October is lighter than both August and September (granted there are a few bigger titles, however most of them are not new-to-blu:

August: 5 Regular, 1 Collectors Edition, 4 Re-Releases for a Total of 10
September: 7 Regular, 2 Collectors Editions for a Total of 9
October: 1 Regular, 3 Collectors Edition, 3 Re-Releases for a Total of 7

They blew their wad early and so people (for good reason) were expecting announcements that would have matched what is already known to be coming. When you announce ROTLD2 CE, TCM4 CE, A [REC] Boxset, In the Mouth of Madness CE, All in the lead up to October, people are going to have big expectations for that month. Creepshow was a win, but everything else paled in comparison to the full slate of releases announced in July/August/September. Particularly frustrating though is the fact that 1) they chose Wasp Woman over Sorority House Massacre 2 to kick off the Corman stuff and 2) That they've announced so many steelbooks during this time of year. Save all the Steelbook announcements for January/February/March and then just release the whole lot of them at once so that way people who want them can grab them when there isn't as much competition, and people that don't want them can just ignore that month and focus on other labels.

Seeing those steels announced in the place of so many other more exciting prospects is guaranteed to always rub people the wrong way, so they may as well make the announcements less painful by just dumping them all out at once in an "off" month.

I know many will not agree with me but Im more excited for Kino's Night Stalker/Strangler films and Trilogy of Terror than the Scream stuff just because they are new to Blu-ray and titles I wanted. Plus they said they had a couple more coming.

Just so much hype and so little new stuff. New scans are great and all but they arent always mind blowing in difference, especially if you dont have a top if the line setup. Special features are nice but once you watch them...eh, and commentaries I find boring most of the time. Only thing that impresses me are added footage to the film itself, new cuts , alternate endings etc.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I was over the moon with the TCM Next Generation announcement. Given the film's bad rep I didn't think Scream would be interested, at least for the time being, but we're getting a 2 disc CE in a couple of months.
But that was about it in terms of excitement for me.

Kino's announcement of Graham Baker's Impulse beat all of Scream's October announcements combined. I REALLY didn't see that one coming and I'm ecstatic for it

I think quite a few people would agree with that.. those are TV horror classics that most people would want

The SDCC announcements will probably dazzle but those titles are for 2019. Looking at it that way, the October slate will feel pale in comparison when all is said and done. If Creepshow ends up being the only "big draw" for October then it's probably going to turn out bigger than we think in terms of content. We already know it's going to be an Arrow-style chipboard box with a booklet. Honestly, if there are more of these chipboard style boxes planned I'm going to be very happy even if they're double dips.

Sample size too. I’ve seen a lot ecstatic comments in Facebook groups thinking these announcements can’t be topped. I’m sure this slate made a lot of people happy, don’t get me wrong.

My Critters, Candyman, Hitcher and Alone in the Dark is someone else’s steelbooks and Trick r Treat.

Also John Carpenter font on non John Carpenter movies is annoying me more than it should. I get that they’re trying to keep the releases uniform but eh

Oh yeah I forgot about Impulse, in and pumped for that too. Thank God for Kino or I would have bummed a bit in October. Still a bit bitter about no Critters yet but gotta be eventually right?

Not a definitive answer, but not an encouraging one. Given the lack of IFC titles it is possible they're saving something for Monday but that's cutting it very fine, it may well leak on Amazon before then.
SF sucks now. It's bad when ROTLD2 & TCM:NG are the next best CE's.

I didn't buy the original Night of the Demons release so I'll be getting this one if it's available without the figurine.

I'm satisfied with my CEs and don't care for steelbooks so I won't be getting much else asides from Brainscan.

Dammit, really not interested in a double dip of Night Of The Demons but I HAVE to have that figure!

It better be an exclusive this time unlike their Billy figure. Going to be so ****ing pissed at NECA if they end up releasing Angela separately later on.

NECA released Billy later on by himself? I had no idea!

Yep, coming this September. The only thing different is the packaging...

http://necaonline.com/2018/05/silent...-figure-billy/

I asked Neca on their Twitter if they're releasing Angela separately later on, but i'm not expecting a response.

I don't care at all about steelbooks. I'm not even actually too concerned about most of the new 4K scans. A ton of people care about having the "definitive" edition, which is fair, but I'm more concerned with marginal utility. I don't think the marginal utility I would get from a 4k scan of Night of the Demons is worth even $10 over the current blu. I'm happy to start taking my place among the plebs with blus of outdated scans.
I haven't bought one of their steels yet and am a steelbook fan. For me So far prefer the artwork on the CE more than the steels. Have yet to pick up Night of the Demons, when I do will go for the CE. As a fan of the artwork they use, think it would be cool if they did a sale for say a week or so to where you could buy reprints of past slipcovers. Know that probably won't happen tho. Like steelbooks, box sets, and digibooks but not really a fan of the posters. Mainly cause have no where to put them. Got three now am trying to sale that's been in storage.

That certainly must suck for those who bought the Limited Edition Blu-ray package primarily for the figure. I'm not really a big fan of NECA so I don't follow them and had no idea they were releasing Billy but I may have to get him now that he's on his own.
