Much like with Trick R Treat, this is one that I sold once the slipcover went OOP and prices went silly, and I never got around to picking it up again. The fact that it's a new scan AND I collect NECA stuff makes this an easy-to-justify if somewhat unexciting purchase.

Don’t worry about so many double dips, Scream Factory releases hold their value like Disney or Criterion releases.

I would absolutely double dip for Halloween II and Night of the Demons if the transfers are enough of an upgrade. There aren't many of their older Collector's Edition titles I'd be willing to fork down money for twice over, but they happened to pick 2 titles I absolutely would. The only other one is The Fog, and they already steelbooked it with the same transfer so I didn't bite, and I'll have no problem ignoring any other re-releases they try and do.

Is that true for the original releases once they have had a new 4k scan release?

This. Almost every original release from any studio get devalued by a better rerelease.
Look at Fright Night TT secondary market prices after the Eureka release.

Raising Cain arrived in the mail today. What do ya know, opened it and the slip was with it. A nice surprise.

Think I would rather get the CE of Night of the Demons instead of the steel.

I’m only interested in the figure. PM me if you want to help me split the cost and buy the steelbook off of me - I already locked in my preorder

These steelbooks are starting to piss me off. Instead of releasing new films they devalue their own releases which takes the fun out of collecting Scream Factory discs.

Sure if its never been out on blu-ray. You can keep feeding the Scream piggy bank if you want, Ill be selective on when they get my money. I just want the titles in blu I want and I dont care if it's WB or Scream. October was a dissapointment to me in a few ways. Im getting a couple titles but thats it.

It's fine for the steelbook crowd, but every title they announce with an exclusive new transfer makes part of my SF collection feel outdated.

Yeah, I’m a steelbook collector but I would like these Scream Factory ones better if they used the original poster artwork. So for the 4K updated ones, I’ll keep the discs and sell off the empty steelies. Only logical thing to do if I want to keep the original CE.

They're starting to put up non-Scream/Select titles now, which means they're almost done for the month. The saving grace is that for now they haven't started listing IFC titles, which is almost always the sign that they're done with retro Scream stuff. Hopefully we'll get one more retro announcement in the next hour or so.

Well if you count all of the scream releases (including Steelbook releases) there are 9 in September and 7 in October (I'm counting releases, not movies). You'd think there would be at least the same amount in October than September (if not more) as it's Halloween month and the line specializing in horror films...

The steelbooks aside (I tend not to count them myself), I think 4 'new' titles for October would be pretty paltry.

Considering the hype - and the titles announced - I'd say it's pretty paltry indeed. I guess the real "big guns" are being saved for Comic Con for release next year. November and December aren't really "big" months (especially December) so if this is it for 2018 that'll be pretty disappointing. Again, considering the hype.

Went back about five pages and read the thread. Started off getting excited about something like The Hitcher, and then the thread just takes a nosedive with the steelbook talk lol.

I don't care at all about steelbooks. I'm not even actually too concerned about most of the new 4K scans. A ton of people care about having the "definitive" edition, which is fair, but I'm more concerned with marginal utility. I don't think the marginal utility I would get from a 4k scan of Night of the Demons is worth even $10 over the current blu. I'm happy to start taking my place among the plebs with blus of outdated scans.

A couple of hours ago someone asked Scream on Facebook if they had anything else to announce for October, to which they replied:

Not a definitive answer, but not an encouraging one. Given the lack of IFC titles it is possible they're saving something for Monday but that's cutting it very fine, it may well leak on Amazon before then.

I mean they’re not wrong, updated editions of a three movies, three CE including one which hasn’t been on blu yet, wasp woman. It’s a heavy month.

But the frenzy over jaw dropping announcements was hype that probably couldn’t be met unless they had Martin or Hitcher or something.

SDCC though
