Uh yeah after looking at the Platoon thread I'm wondering if that is indeed a Shout release and they are double dipping MGM titles as well...ugh. That could mean steels of Night of the Comet and whatever else they got from MGM. I just don't know what to think anymore. No expectations, no expectations, just keep repeating this and I'll be fine. I'll go lay down now.

Catching up on forum posts since last Friday. I love Night of the Demons, and I suppose I'll spring for the 4K steelbook at some point, but will not be getting the doll. I'm not a steelbook collector, and wish they weren't rereleasing so many of the films I already own in 4K transfers. I'm excited for Creepshow and House on Haunted Hill; not surprised there were no other big announcements. However, this current news about the 10+ titles is encouraging. Sorority House Massacre II/Hard to Die is one of them. As for the others, let the speculation begin. All I'm really expecting at this point is a Critters set of some kind...

Just keep telling yourself that there is always next month for new announcements.

There will also be some fun titles coming from other studios as well this October. Everyone that is or has complained about the lack of "new to Blu" titles from Scream Factory should be picking up both Trilogy of Terror and The Unnamable when they release this October as a result. Both are jaw dropping announcements as far as titles that people never really expected to see on Blu Ray, and both are actually enjoyable films as well, unlike a lot of what Code Red offers which would also fall under that unlikely to see a Blu Ray category.

I saw that thread - I think it may be an amazon error. No announcement direct from Shout and it doesn't look like the artwork has Shout branding on the spine. Also, have they ever released a steelbook as the initial release? Because they've never released Platoon before, it seems kind of odd. You'd think if they were releasing it that it would be via the Shout Select line.

P.S. I was just being a goof with my steelbook/double dip comment. I really do have high hopes that we'll get a bunch of new content and maybe a couple double dips. My guess is they're done with steelbooks for the next set of announcements.

That and Creepshow are the most anticipated

Cobra is a mix of horror and action/thriller.

Also wouldn't mind a Friday the 13th surprise...when the 13th actually falls right it should be considered a horror holiday second to only Halloween.

I can't get too excited for stuff that's still many months out. I hope they have something juicy for November. December is typically a dead month for releases, with only a trickle of titles.

Warner/New Line have Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason as well as the Elm street original series and reboot and Friday the 13th reboots.

I think if they do Friday it’ll be the later new line ones. It would be great if Paramount played ball. And there’s that lawsuit but I think that’s only about newer movies.

All I know is if they announce a NOES set that includes the remake, i wonder how many comments of "ughhh should've left off the remake and knocked off a few bucks!" there will be.

I am so excited though for these announcements. I am just hoping to get an upgraded NOES set haha. Remake included! I have the current set, but..but...it deserves better! Considering there is a bootleg of all special features/making ofs/deleted scenes/etc. out there that were not included on the current set shows that there are still fun little nuggets that can be included...not too mention the TV show.

If there are new steelbook announcements of already released titles, I at least hope they include 4K masters.

I'm hoping for some holiday season indie or studio gems to come out. Christmas has been a good source of horror lately. Not all great but love that the genre is branching out more to other seasons. Krampus, A Christmas Horror Story among others are must watches for me in December now.

I think they should do collectors editions of each of the NOES films separately. Lots of extra features. Then in a month, do them all again as a steelbook. THEN starting in 2019, start from scratch and release every single one in 4K UHD.

With the apparent(?) reveal of Platoon today, I can't help but wonder if this isn't a Comic-Con announcement. Furthermore, its leak got me thinking about how/why some of the upcoming shout titles have been held back from Diabolik, Deepdiscount, bullmoose, etc. My original thought was that this was a sort of punishment for shipping early, but upon reflection I now wonder if part of the upcoming comic-con announcements won't also be for titles that are to ship in September-November as part of those order forms. In order to avoid a leak of comic-con announcements, entire order sheets would need to be held back or else those distributors would have access to the otherwise unannounced titles risking a potential leak as we've seen here. Once Comic-con passes on the 20th, it wouldn't shock me to see pre-orders show up for the currently announced and upcoming announced titles on all the sites that thus far don't have their orders up.

I've already learned that my most wished-for titles aren't making any 'jaws drop' either, LOL.

But, I still hold out fairly realistic hopes that I'll AT LEAST get "The Hand", "Alligator", and "Cruising".

Elm Street 2010 wasn't a reboot, it was a remake! it's the same story as the original film as that makes it a remake just like Robocop. A reboot is when your telling a completely different story like Batman Begins wasn't a remake of the 1989 Tim Burton film but a completely different story and so were Casino Royale, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Spider-Man HomeComing with Man of Steel being true reboots.

I would just think of it as being a bonus Elm Street-branded coaster.

I'm new to Scream Factory, but now that I'm poking around, I'm interested. Any idea how likely it is that they'll be able to produce a Friday the 13th set? Or if they do one, will it most likely be a single movie?

We don't need one. Paramount's last big set was as definitive as it will likely ever be. They even reissued a smaller set later. Seriously, are people still not satisfied?
