And Cliff has already practically said that it will be single, as he hasn't decided what to do with The Evictors yet. |

Here's hoping the announcements start up again soon...
This thread used be 24/7 posts, but its slowed down since the announcements. I wanna keep Scream relevant to fans, and I think the announcements would help. Maybe a designated day of the month? Every OTHER week. Something regular though. ![]() |

I'd even go as far to say that with each passing year, the current average horror fan is only going to go as far back as 1990 and so on. A podcast I listen to is a pair of guys only 5 or so years younger than me (almost 28 myself) and they like almost nothing pre-90's, except for the usual notable handful that people bring up. I listen to them because they review newer titles, but it is just crazy what they haven't seen or will refuse to see. Real life friends my age simply don't watch anything pre 1980 unless it is...you guessed it, Halloween, The Exorcist, Jaws. There is almost no one I can share love I have for black and white stuff. My girl isn't a horror fan, but she can at least appreciate some of that kind of stuff since it is tamer. I can watch 70's stuff like Hammer titles or anything gothic with my uncle because he's of that age. He's like 15 years older than me so he grew up with some of that stuff. There are a lot of different horror fans and the ones like myself and by the sound of it, you, are few and far between. I'm totally devoted to the genre and while there is plenty I haven't seen, there's no limit how far back into its history I will go. Others simply don't care...they can't do silent films, black and white, and the slower paced movies of the pre-80's. A friend at work is about 21 and I think the oldest horror film he's seen is The Exorcist. But hey, like any passion, it takes a lot of time and interest to devote yourself to it. I look at where I am at 28 compared to when I was 21 and it is night and day with how much I've really dug into the genre's history since then. Quote:
To keep myself on the topic itself, I will definitely be picking up many of these titles to add to the others I've already bought. Last edited by JLaw1719; 01-28-2013 at 07:42 AM. |

Wow. For a horror podcast to ignore 90% of horror films (including almost all the good ones) is just absurd. What do they even talk about then, Saw sequels and 'reboots'? How depressing...

I never liked it. Now if Scream Factory acquires it and releases it then I will have to face a dilemma as I wanted to get all their releases ![]() |

Interesting thing about Carrie. I would never have thought the film was a possibility for Shout as it's a big catalog title. I guess this means pretty much anything is a possibility, with few exceptions. I know MGM would NEVER license something like The Great Escape or It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. As for Carrie, would a restoration ever get rid of that haze that permeates the film? Everything has an overexposed look to it, even the nighttime scenes. It;s ugly.

Carrie was shot that way. You guys need to get over it, it's been nearly 40 years already. It's hazy. It's always been hazy. It's always gonna be hazy. Last edited by benricci; 01-28-2013 at 03:20 PM. |

I enjoy listening to Terror Transmission, but they're more commentaries (with intros) than podcast discussions.

I know what you mean, it just kills me sometimes because they're missing out on some great stuff, much like how these younger guys are missing out on older stuff
![]() It's all good though. I probably listen to about 15 different podcasts and they all suit different needs. Some focus on the old, some on the new, some are just plain well rounded like Horroretc, some are dead serious, and some are pretty funny. |

I'm completely open to watching well-reviewed new horror films - Woman in Black, Innkeepers, Let the Right One In/Let Me in - it's just that there are so few of them, and most new horror films are either rote, bland (and inevitably inferior) remakes or repugnant, artless torture porn.
