Not sure why Starman qualifies as a horror title. I think another Jeff Bridges film “The Vanishing” is more fitting under the Scream Factory label.

I'm in Canada. Trying to figure out if I pre-order from Shout or wait for amazon.ca. I'm thinking even with the 20% discount, it will be cheaper ordering from amazon.ca later. Posters are cool and all but I know I won't be doing anything with them.

In for Candyman and Critters, and absolutely stoked about Dracula POD, and am hoping for more Hammer in the future. Will also pick up SWF, as I always had a thing for the leads, and have never upgraded from my laserdisc (!)

It will definitely be cheaper from Amazon.ca. If you don't care about the posters, and don't mind waiting a bit, that's the way to go.

Out of the Dark would be a contender as well, from the titles licensed to Mill Creek. They have only given it a DVD release thus far.

***FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE COMIC CON ANNOUNCEMENTS*** (for those who care to read them)

As a long time Scream Factory fan/collector, I'll throw out my two cents regarding the ComicCon 2018 announcements after having a few days to think on them.

Saturday the 14th - This is a bizarre low-budget comedy that used to play on cable all the time. Nothing great. I've heard very few people ask for it, but this will be a first time on Blu title, and I'm always glad to get those. Will probably get this at some point; maybe next year.

Screamers - Great news to get this title, and though the budget was not as big as it was for other Philip K. Dick adaptations (Total Recall, Blade Runner), this is an awesome horror/sci-fi film with some cool effects. Very glad to have this one, and it makes a worthy edition to Scream Factory's library.

Single White Female - I feel the same way with this as I do with Screamers. It's long overdue for a Blu-ray, it's an old favorite, and I'm glad it's coming from Scream Factory. Not an overwhelming announcement by any means, but a good addition.

Obsession - This is a great De Palma film. I own the region free Arrow edition, though. Whether or not I double dip on this remains to be seen, though it doesn't seem likely at this time. They have released other De Palma films, so this fits, but it feels like a clunky announcement.

10 to Midnight - Did not expect this one, but since it's a new transfer, I'll most likely sell my TT edition and go with this one. You know they'll add a great deal of extras. Since it's almost a slasher film, I'm glad to have it in the Scream Factory library.

Starman
- It's a Carpenter flick, so I'm not surprised at this acquisition. It's not even close to my favorite JC movies, but I'm sure I'll get this close to release date, as it's worth revisiting.

Dracula: Prince of Darkness
- Glad to have Hammer titles as CEs. Will get this day one, and I'm looking forward to other Hammer announcements.

The Craft
- I like this movie, but in my collection of almost 2000 titles I don't yet own it, so I'll easily get the SF CE. Another title I didn't even consider for release.

Sleepwalkers
- I love Mick Garris, and Sleepwalkers is a lot of fun. I own the Image Blu-ray, though. Will probably upgrade based on the features. Not super thrilled with this double-dip, though. Seems unnecessary.

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 - No feeling towards this one either way.

Urban Legend (and Urban Legend 2) - I wish they'd included all three films, like the Australian release. I have held off getting the Australian release in hopes that a U.S. release was coming, but it looks like I'll be skipping these and buying the import. Bloody Mary was written by Michael Dougherty, who helmed Trick R Treat.

Critters - Very pleased to get the whole set, especially in a rigid slipcase. An insider told me this one was coming, and this is the best announcement of the whole con for me. First time on Blu-ray, anywhere.

Candyman - I ordered the Arrow set when it was announced. I wish SF would've hinted that they had it. If they did, I would've waited and bought it from them. I know they don't owe anyone anything, but it would've been nice if they had posted information that they were releasing this at the same time. I get that the majority of fans don't import titles, but the collectors do. They lost my business on this one.

Shout Select - For a line that's advertised as "unheralded gems," the CC announcements are mind-blowing in their silliness. To think I expected Surviving the Game and Cruising, and we get Legally Blonde and Popstar. Just doesn't make sense to me. I won't be getting any of these.

OVERALL

There were some good announcements, and I feel Scream Factory announced an overall strong slate. But titles like Deadly Friend, Alone in the Dark, and others remain elusive. These must not be available to them. There's always the future, but it seems more likely these titles will come from Warner Archive, if they come at all. Like @Barndoor stated, the parameters of the Warner deal remain mysterious.

In looking back at the "Scream Factory Insider" announcements, it turns out he was not correct, unless it is stuff coming in the future. But it doesn't seem likely. He struck out.

Speaking of Image, does Shout (or anyone other than Image or Arrow) ever work with Lakeshore? Maybe they're our hope of getting a decent Blu-ray for Heathers in the US.
Peggy Sue would be nice.

Need to keep a steady stream of things coming. Surprised that Valentine wasn't included, but now that I think about it more, it would make a lot of sense to either announce it on Valentine's Day or, for release on that day.

Shout's announcements haven't hurt the wallet in a while for me, but this is going to be a bad one. Bold for most happy about and priority buys. A bunch of maybes that will probably translate into buys knowing me:
- Legally Blonde Collection
- Used Cars (maybe)
- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (maybe)
- Kalifornia (maybe)
- Saturday the 14th (maybe)
- Single White Female
- De Palma's Obsession (maybe)
- 10 to Midnight (maybe)
- Starman
- The Craft
- Sleepwalkers
- Urban Legends (already have the first but want the second)
- Critters Collection
- Candyman
Used Cars i can't wait to get besides Craft, Sleepwalkers, Urban Legends (the first BD is bareboned and this should have nice extras), Critters, Candyman, Single White Female, Obsession, 10 till Midnight and Starman.

Scream isn't always about horror you know! they do sci-fi besides horror and suspense and thrillers, remember? i mean Robocop sequels, Mad Max, Cyborg, Critters, Robot Jox and more.

That's because he's not an insider. He's just a full-time troll/social media stalker who has a hard-on for Shout and C-Mac for whatever reason

I'm in for all of the CEs for sure, even if I already have Obsession, Dracula, and Sleepwalkers

Do you think Dracula's PQ will be improved and Sleepwalkers should be an improvement with better PQ and with extras this time since the previous BD had zero extras?

I was looking through my collection to see how old some of these double dip titles were.... Starman, The Craft, and Urban Legend are old titles that came out the first couple years of blu-ray...

Sleepwalkers came out in 2012 however, so I think it's the least likely to look noticeably better... it's all about the extras with that one.

No idea on Dracula, but I'm hoping to dump the OOP copy while it still has value, which means I'd still be in the black even with a $20 purchase

My Sleepwalkers is a double pack from Image so... I'd assume so? I only spent like $4.99 on it so I'm not too worried about any sunk costs there.

Amazon.ca have been really good with their pricing on Scream titles lately so I'm going to order from them.

I do like the CE line, and have all of them, so I'll most likely get all of these. Candyman may be the first one I don't buy. I just can't justify getting the U.S. release after having already bought the U.K. one. But cheers to everyone who held out. I honestly didn't think SF was going to release it.

Really hoping Dracula: Prince of Darkness and SNDN Part 2 are Collector's Editions so we get some new artwork, I want these movies framed on my wall.

I noticed that as well. Hopefully it continues! There were a couple I was slacking on getting that are now stupidly priced on amazon.ca.

Probably to keep it grouped more with their other John Carpenter films. Picture all your Shout/Scream Carpenters sitting on your shelf together and one of them has a different logo on the bottom of the spine than all the rest.

Sleepwalkers will have 2 discs and Mick Garris is highly involved in the release, so I'd expect a lot of juicy stuff.

Well i KNEW Scream was gonna do Candyman, i felt it at first and they lied when they said they couldn't do it, i smelled bullshit you know as i knew they were saving it comic con and i don't have a region free player as i can only play region 0 and A BDs as i knew SF was up to something.

And wallah! instant announcement, perfect for those who have region A players like me and i'm gonna get it next month on Shout's site along with Critters which the series i knew they were having for the comic con.

I also predicted they would do Urban Legend CE, Screamers, Sleepwalkers CE, Saturday The 14th and Starman CE this year whether it's SDCC or not! i didn't expect they would do more Hammer next, 10 Till Midnight (missed out on the Twilight Time BD because i don't like TT because of limited edition crap they do on the site), The Craft ( i don't have this on BD), Silent Night Deadly Night 2: CE, Obsession and Single White Female. But i am very happy about all this.

Here's hoping for more exciting titles in nov to be announced late next week and the next week.

The one I'm kind of disappointed about is Pump Up the Volume. Given how many double-dips were included in the Shout Select announcements, it would have been a breath of fresh air. Great movie with unfortunately no blu-ray release. Which also got me thinking, what about Talk Radio? I haven't seen it in years but I vaguely remember liking it. Looks like it's potentially owned by Universal and no blu release.
