the universal one sucks, scream has extras galore and great PQ but this new steelbook with 4k restoration sounds great

Universal will likely release the UHD themselves.

The only saving grace is that I didn’t buy the last Scream release, so I might be the extremely limited audience for this. Wonder what the color timing will look like THIS time?

The Thing steelbook is tempting if its the same 4K restoration used for the Arrow bluray. That one, judging from screencaps, looks closer to the HD-DVD and original Universal blu-ray releases, which I preferred over the Shout transfer in a few areas.

It's not a rumor. The Fog, They Live, and Prince of Darkness are all coming out in new 4K UHD editions overseas (and UHDs are region-free), in addition to Christine and Halloween coming out in the US.
I guess I will have to settle for the 2nd best release because I'm not getting the Arrow or the steelbook. As soon as I do a 4k will be announced.

As much as I've tried to buy everything Scream factory releases, their output has proven too much for me so I have plenty of titles to still pick up. As I mentioned before, I hadn't yet gotten the first Scream Factory edition of the film so now I'll have more options when I finally pull the trigger, and that's rarely a bad thing.
The steelbook releases don't bother me. I don't see why they bother anyone. If you don't want it, don't buy it. It's not that they are "only" releasing steelbook rereleases. Like previous posters have said, September, October, and November are stacked with great films.

I'm also having a hard time keeping up. I do own all the CEs, and a great majority of the non-CE releases, but trying to stay ahead of the game with preordering the titles I want is getting to be difficult to manage (especially with output from the other labels I like and collect). At least SF releases rarely go out of print. I'm not too worried about eventually getting caught up with what I want since it will be available.

Nothing will ever top the artwork for the Mondo Thing steelbook. Thats a thing (no pun intended) of beauty.

Has anyone had trouble getting the replacement discs for Child's Play?

I've sent Shout Factory's customer services a request for a replacement, never received it, asked them why it never showed up, got a response saying they're sending another replacement and yet, that one has yet to show up either.

...this is rather annoying.

I stopped collecting steelbooks a while back. They should honestly just sell empty steelbooks for $10 a piece for those that want them. The one that annoyed me was Lifeforce. Never got around to picking it up so I'd opt for the newer transfer, but I'd rather just have the regular case/artwork.

I'm not a fan of steel books either and prefer the regular blu-ray cases as well. I like newly commissioned artwork but I also like the option of having the original art on the reverse. I haven't really liked any of the new artwork on any of these new Steel book releases.

I still don't have the Thing and They Live in my collection and if I were to pick these titles up, I would buy the regular collectors edition's and not the Steel books regardless of the new 4k transfers.

The original Struzan art and Shipper's Scream factory art both blow it away.

Had they used Shipper's art on the steelbook I would have triple dipped, but the new art they are using for all these steelbooks is bad, not Milliner bad, but still bad.
