As far as I know, they've not said. I suspect it is an attempt to increase direct pre-orders, which they obviously make more money on.

Another theory is the studios who license to Shout don't want stuff shipped out early. Amazon is the only major etailer that doesn't do that (at least not in my experience). Actually, Shout themselves ship early so this theory no longer holds water.

Are Warner titles the only ones affected? Mac and Me is currently $15 and change and I ordered Someone's Watching Me for less than $21

I've seen them show up where I used to work ($11) used and another place for as low as $7 used, but often still sealed. I've even seen a few a pawnshops for a few dollars. I'm big on supporting people's work, but not if their work is anti-consumer. If they keep it up, they're going to loose money big time. Then the dumb big studios will see low sales and think that licensing is no good and think there's no market for it. When the only issue here is company greed. I loved Scream Factory and thought they where doing great work overall, until this. Oh well... maybe they will eventually go under as a company and we'll get more releases from Arrow in the US.

No. Starting with tomorrow’s releases (except for the Lifeforce steelbook for some reason), all future preorders except for the contemporary/IFC type stuff are nowhere to be found except for Amazon and SF’s own store.

Just set up a meeting like, "hey, we know you guys find it impossible to put out catalog films, we can do it." Case closed.

I canceled all my Amazon pre-orders as the prices are too high and were not coming down. I won't be getting Scream stuff on release day anymore, I can wait to find them cheaper.

When does SF usually announce release date, extras and open preorders for December titles (Mostly interested in Silent Night Deadly Night 2)?

Sooner than I expected. I think we are still waiting for extras to be announced for titles like Creepshow and Urban Legend.

The DVD appears to be OOP and it's no longer available for streaming, as far as I can tell, so I think the distribution rights may have reverted back to Coquette Productions (David Arquette and Courteney Cox) from 20th Century Fox. If it's still with Fox (Disney), then I'd say the chances are currently close to 0%.

They probably won't announce features on SNDN 2 until November.

I also find that if it's not that, its them touting "Free Shipping on Orders over $50!" but then they mark things down to the point where you have to buy three titles and spend $70 to get over that "free shipping" threshold.

Less money I give them now the better. Was a big fan of them, but not anymore. If they keep it up, I'll never buy anything from them again and hope for their downfall as a company. So stupid. Trying to punish retail places, but ultimately punishing their customers for just wanting their releases at a decent price. No thanks.
Man business sucks in general. Im sure there are a lot of good hard working people working over at Scream/Shout factory trying to get us the titles that we/they enjoy. Til one day some hirer up running the business side sends the word down that they will stop pre orders everywhere to increase ordering direct from Shout.

Im with you too on not supporting the label and giving into these ridiculous prices but I definitely don't want to see the downfall of them. Competition is good and companies like Arrow, Vestron all work harder to release better movies with competition.

All I can say is that they will hopefully back pedal pretty soon after seeing the cancelled pre order numbers. This will not work out for them like they wanted in the long run!

If I read this correctly it looks like an exclusive thing with Amazon rather than a punishment to the other retailers (debatable). Still really scummy.

I noticed that the last time I ordered on the website. I got two titles and kind of assumed they would add up to 50 at first glance, but my mind was rounding up $24.99 to $25 without fully comprehending that it would not equal $50 and my final purchase was around 2 or 3 cents short of qualifying for the free shipping. I was highly annoyed for a second, but I wanted the titles anyway and wasn't even thinking of free shipping when I went on there.

Yeah everything is $24.95. So 2 titles would still be under.

This company is even more scum than I originally thought. Giving no options on where to buy (preorder), which a few months ago and before wasn't an issue. They talk free shipping on their site with a threshold, but you have to go a good bit over it, because of how they price it. Uh yeah. Thanks for sending me to the land of region free. I will never buy a release from them again, unless it's in a way that's legit (no stealing) and they don't get my money directly (used) and make zero off the sale. Or if there's an equaI or better release in another region. I have zero problem paying the low 20s range for most of their releases because I have for years, but this is too much having to pay full MSRP or save a couple dollars on their site and get a trash poster that usually shows up trashed. The way to stop this is to close your wallets to them. Only way a company like this listens is when you take away their profits. When they are too stupid to understand after losing money, than they're doomed to eventual failure. Sorry but any company that pulls crap like this doesn't deserve my money and I hope for the worst for them as a company. As long as they stay anti-consumer, I'll stay anti-Scream/Shout Factory.

From Diabolik’s Twitter....

Quote:
We are not allowed to take orders for any @Scream_Factory title until we are given their permission. Amazon controls their pricing by bots, so if there are no competing prices, it is automatically full price.
