Last year's 5th anniversary sale was so good. I got close to ten movies or so and was able to check off a large chuck of my Scream want list. I wish they'd have a big sale like that once a year but maybe for the 10th anniversary they'll do it again.

By 2021 they will probably have released almost all the titles people have been requesting that they can obtain the rights to

Yeah, I'll probably just grab the first two via import.

I bet it was Tom Laughlin's estate, one way or the other. Either the estate insisted on a solo release for "Born Losers" ("Billy Jack" already has one), or the various issues with the other movie (which are there because that's how the estate has them) got such negative feedback that they decided to release "Born Losers" (which had no problems) separate; I don't think "Trial" had any issue either (not certain), but if you're gonna buy "Trial", you're gonna just buy the box set anyway.

It's certainly possible... though there are always steelbooks and re-masters. On the topic of Scream Factory issuing all titles available to them however, in the event that the constant criticism as of late hasn't scared off any lingering remnants of Shout Factory insiders I would like to throw out there that I'd be willing to pay a very high premium if Scream Factory could wrangle Rock N Roll nightmare and Black Roses away from Synapse and give them definitive HD editions. (Please include a soundtrack with Black Roses).

I've cancelled all of my Scream pre-orders on Amazon (and listed the reason as "Price too high") and will just wait for a sale on the main Shout site. I won't boycott them, because I appreciate what they've done for my collection so far and I still want to support them for what they could possibly give us going forward (Elm Street will still be a hope until it's not.) But, I also do not at all agree with this new practice of theirs, so waiting for a sale to buy anything from them is an appropriate protest.

None of the recent announcements are even on amazon.ca yet. The most recent is Texas Chainsaw I believe. Still waiting to order Candyman! and a bunch of others.

Maybe Shout is blocking Amazon.ca from listing any new releases until three weeks after Amazon.com releases it.

I am looking to order a few titles from them as well.

Amazon.ca is probably just as confused as the rest of us and has no idea when they are allowed to list titles.

nobody on any side seems very forthcoming about what exactly is going on in regards to this little controversy.

Personally I think people are over reacting to this situation... I really don't care that much if I wait a week later to get a title... especially if I can get a lower price and read reviews first before I order it!

Scream Factory posted this reply in response to a Facebook comment a few hours ago...

"Hi guys,

We apologize for the recent disruption in the normal pre-order experience for Shout! Factory products at other retailers. Please allow for a couple of weeks as we sort this out on our end and return back to (or close to) the process as it was before. Thank you for understanding and, again, we apologize for the inconvenience and confusion."

Hopefully it all smooths over soon.

This is the weirdest thing ever. What, did they 'accidentally' give Amazon a promo window? Or was this a test that failed spectacularly? It makes me wonder if they'll ever actually acknowledge it - if and when things go back to 'normal'.

That's what's kind of annoying, they're acting like they don't know exactly what's going on. If you want to drive sales to your website and give Amazon an exclusive window, fine, just tell us. They want ambiguity so people will panic and buy from Shout, but the lack of transparency is frustrating for customers.

Seriously. Even the October titles aren't even up yet!

And the only reason TCM:TNG is there is because it was pushed back to October.

This announcement reminds me of the apology in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

In other words, whoever was responsible for this must've been sacked, much to the rejoice for regular SF buyers who don't even try to game the prices (i.e. pre-ordering through Target, Best Buy, Deep Discount and whatnot).

The fact that this is happening right as I FINALLY got my Child's Play replacement disc means that balance has been restored to the world

Not to derail this thread but quickly: Trial's AR was botched which is a cardinal sin for the presentation of a film like that.

I suppose the release of BL is good for many as they don't want the botched Billy Jack 3 & 4 in the set and some consider the previously released blu ray version of the second film to be superior.

I wish Shout! had been honest with their loyal fanbase about whatever they are doing and why instead of leaving us to speculate. If they legitimately need to change their business model to allow the label to persist, I would understand and support that. As-is, this pre-order fiasco rubs me the wrong way and dulls a lot of enthusiasm for the label. More than willing to put my funds towards releases from other labels until this is cleared up.
