Ah. Oh well, would have been a nice bonus but probably for the best especially since it sounds like he had personal reasons.

They we're both great, but I liked "The Vampire Lovers" best.

I'm so glad I can buy "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" and get "The Evictors" for an extra. But you can secure my purchases in advance for these two!
And "The Burning" too! And everything else!

If you enjoyed it, you should check out the Hammer vampire films released by Synapse - Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus - if you haven't already.

I've seen The Vampire Lovers, very good film-I was impressed. It's a plus that it's not an exploitation film given the premise.

I really like the art for "The Town that Dreaded Sundown"! It is an excellant film. There are multiple movies that i group together mentally, and three that I do that with are "The Evictors", "Legend of Boggy Creek", and "The Town that Dreaded Sundown".

Isnt "The Legend of Boggy Creek" public domain? If so, what are the chances that Shout would even be interested in it or any other PD movies?

Arrow has dipped into the public domain before though, like with "City of the Dead". So, why not Shout Factory? I can see how the return for PD blu-rays might not be AS profitable but there are some great ones out there.

Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Mummy, House on Haunted Hill, etc.

I would like to see them get deeper into the horror genre with PD titles and maybe some Italian Horror.

Also, Cliff... Any chances the prices for these will ever drop in a few months. Its hard to afford these for some of us middle class stiffs lol.

Since I moved from Australia Its been different adjusting to how more expensive things are in relation between the countries. Milk and Gasoline costs more in Oz, but blu-rays cost less... lol.

Hospital Massacre? Wait, when was it announced that it'd be a bonus feature and no offense guy, The Evictors being on another DVD is better than nothing.

The version of The Evictors on Netflix is widescreen and looks really good, even if it's not in HD. I'm guessing they'll use the same transfer, or maybe even something better. And if that's the case, I doubt anyone will be disappointed. Plus, it'll be basically free, as I'm sure most of us were buying Town anyway.

It's kind of like the Slumber Party Massacre collection they released. I would love to own those on blu-ray, but the set is still fantastic (love the "Sleepless Nights" doc) and I'm just happy to own such a great edition of it.

As for Hospital Massacre, I'm sure they'll do the best they can, be it DVD or blu-ray. If you need something to support this, just look at all their releases so far.

Cliff on a Hospital Massacre BD:

Quote:
pretty doubtful. it just won't sell enough copies to warrant the new transfer.
If no HD transfer exists, and it's not economically feasible to create one, than there's obviously no point putting it on BD, as it would look lousy and people would (rightfully) complain. That's not 'the short end of the stick', it's sensible business practice. As has already been pointed out many times, Shout/Scream do not exist in an economic vacuum, free to spend wildly on each and every horror film that they could potentially release. We all have our personal pet favorites, and of course would like them to each receive stunningly remastered, extras-packed special editions, but that's not reality, it's fantasy.

That's the only negative thing I would have to say about Scream/Shout! is the usually $24.99 purchase when most new to blu-ray current films are almost always $19.99 if you goto Wal-Mart or catch a deal elsewhere.

But, I do realize your a specialty company, that listens to fans, and puts out a fantastic package, so I guess that makes up for the price?

If you pre-order them soon after they go up on Amazon (before prices are raised), and you get them in your Gold Box, they're usually $19.95 for the $29.99 CEs and $17.95 for the $26.99 non-CEs.

It's not difficult to find most of these for $19.99. DeepDiscount currently has most of these for under $20. Amazon has pre-orders on Lifeforce, Phantasm II, TerrorVision / Video Dead, and From Beyond at $19.99 each. Be sure to check your GoldBox daily and you might get them for even cheaper.

Also, Family Video carries most of these at $17.99 + $1.99 flat shipping (any size order).

So it's not too hard to find decent prices on these, you've just got to comp shop a bit. But even a full-price, these are a better package than you'd get from someone like Twilight Time. They're worth the $$$.

+1, yeah if you stake out Amazon early enough when Shout first puts up new pre-orders you'll always find the cheapest prices that way before they inflate a few days later. The next few Scream titles I'm paying as low as $18.89 to $20 thanks to locking the orders in as soon as they went up. Anytime I see the pre-orders go up, I always do my best to link them here so everyone here can luck out with the best prices.

You can go to importcds.com anytime and get these for $20 including shipping. Importcds is great for certain companies, Shout!, Scream, Olive, and a few others.

I understand. Just that I was explaining to the guy who was complaining The Evictors wasn't getting a seperate DVD release that it's better than nothing. But all in all you're right. I assume Schizoid will be the lucky film to be paired with Hospital Massacre? It makes sense considering they were both released by Cannon Films.

You certainly get what you pay for though. Scream are a breath of fresh for Horror fans and are releasing some excellent movies. I'd certainly rather pay $20-$25 for an awesome old school horror movie than pay that for most new release, modern movies that hit Blu ray.

I was addressing him as well.

That does make sense, although I'm guessing the configuration depends on the condition of the elements for Schizoid - if Schizoid receives a BD release, would Hospital Massacre just be an extra? That seems strange for a film not directly related. If Schizoid ends up being DVD-only, I'm guessing it would then be a straight-forward double-feature disc. So, I would imagine that Hospital Massacre will be paired with another standard-def film, whether Schizoid, The Vagrant, or Godsend, regardless of whether the two films are explicitly or implicitly related in some way. If Godsend and Schizoid end up not receiving or having HD masters, I'd say all three will be on a DVD triple-feature. If all four end up SD-only, we'll likely be looking at two double-feature DVD discs.
