edit: Okay, I got the money back in the form of a refund. Is that how they usually do the pre-orders? Maybe I just never noticed. Actually that wouldn't make any sense since House on Haunted Hill had the correct amount. So Amazon must have noticed the glitch and already tried to account for it.
Sometimes the price drops before shipping but sometimes I get a refund when it ships. I rarely get preorders on release day though from amazon so I usually order from Bullmoose or Best Buy.

Shout! Factory is dying, lol.

At least the Vestron line delivers and don't screw potential buyers over to warrant a death certificate, even with the high prices.

Almost always Collector’s Edition were available through Bestbuy.com and also in some stores. Lately, all recent Shout’s releases like The Man in the Iron Mask Blu-ray 20th Anniversary Edition, House on Haunted Hill, Trick 'R Treat, and Exorcist II: The Heretic, to name a few, are only avaliable through Shout’s website. Does anyone know if Shout Factory has ended certain partnerships/connections with BestBuy?

The linked article is over six years old. Best Buy isn’t as prevalent as it was a decade ago, especially with the decreased demand for physical media. However, their phone and major appliance sales will keep them around for a while.

I feel like Scream, at least extras wise, is the way to go, but I love Barker so much I want that new interview!
I'll happily take the new Clive Barker feature on the Arrow release before any of that. Interviews with him are a rarity these days, especially on-camera.

Best buys are cutting their store size in half.

If they got rid of half their crew they'd be in better financial shape. I've been to a lot of BB stores where the blue shirts are just walking around and chatting with each other. They can't even be bothered with putting stock out on shelves when it's supposed to be. Cellphones and computers are pretty much the only products people still buy in brick & mortars so maybe they should just sell that stuff and cut the washing machines and cheap DVD players. Their variety sucks anyway.

Like your best friend.

Seriously, single discs are usually in a well-padded bubble mailer (though Slipcased Editions usually get a box), and for multiple discs, I've always had mine arrive in a box. I only had one problem with USPS damaging an item before, and Jesse took care of it no questions asked.

I've moved to (almost) buying everything I want through them, even though it's sometimes a bit more expensive. Best customer service I've ever experienced buying Blu-rays and media. They've got me for life. And they have great taste. Who doesn't love that?

I suspect that you'll have at least a few more years to make these pronouncements before you get to brag about how you called it, so you may want to pack a lunch.

With Sears likely dying soon, they'll probably keep large appliances to pick up some of that market. Large appliances is one of the few things I still buy at Sears, not that it happens very often. There's pretty much no reason to walk into a Best Buy nowadays, their media section was the only thing that got me in and all the stores in my area have reduced it to just some center and end isle kiosks.

In my experience it's better to order from Amazon than Shout themselves if you want your movies to arrive in good condition.

Does Shout ship their blu's in sh*tty packaging? I never ordered directly from them.

I remember when Best Buy had a huge media section to browse, as did Curcuit City (RIP), but the one nearest to me still has a decent selection last I checked a couple years ago. It’s too far out of the way for me to go to with any remote regularity.

Believe it or not, the BIM store closest to me with the best media section is Wal-Mart. The Target near my job used to have a fantastic media section with three whole isles, and it was even a suitable replacement for the MovieStop nearby that went under, but now it’s just one isle, and has a very basic selection. There’s another Target further away that still has three isles, but it’s a bit too far. Barnes & Noble has a great Blu-ray selection, but it’s too bad that they charge full MSRP. From what I remember, Suncoast used to be like that too, and I think it sped up their demise. I buy 90% of my Blu-rays online, but I really miss the BIM experience of buying a movie and bringing it right home to watch.
