I think they just got reverted back. The 8 film bluray set is now out of print. I don't know legal stuff though.

I don't have anything to add to the "morality" of Shout's/Scream's business practices, good or bad, but I will say that it looks like everything, not just sh!t, has hit the fan and they're scrambling to recover at any and all costs.

I'm sure they wouldn't admit it, but in my personal opinion, it seems as though they're going through some sort of business re-structuring plan, with the higher-ups wanting things done now, as opposed to phasing any changes, in or out, over a period of due course.

There is no way possible that all of these disruptions/interruptions are just "coincidental" and only happened over the past 2-3 months. A strategic move was made somewhere along the line, but that line seems to have had many intersections on it.

The pressing plant situation is a growing problem that will snowball exponentially and seriously screw around with street dates for everybody. I got an email from Twilight Time announcing a sale that also said October titles are delayed so early shipping is no longer an incentive to buy directly from Shout.

I`d be curious to know how many sales they lost so far due to higher prices. Speaking for myself I can say that I already own most of these new collectors editions and would be willing to upgrade some for 20 bucks, but not more.
For example I just bought House on Haunted Hill cause it`s a first time release, but have decided to stick with my old copies of Exorcist II Heretic and Trick R Treat, simply for not being willing to pay so much for a catalogue title upgrade. Meaning they have already lost 2 sales from me. Movies I would have most likely ordered right away if they were 20 bucks.

Did they not say they would explain that situation?
What's the likelihood that Amazon has a hand in this decision to have preorder exclusivity?

That isn't just bad customer service, it's disrespectful to their clientele, who are ordering "new" products and trying to support their brand.

Once my current pre-orders are fulfilled with them directly I'm going to take a long hard look at ordering anything from them again, let alone directly....
Very true. Their new pricing structure ($29.99 - $34.99 for new CEs with no further discounts initially at all retailers) has put them at the very top of the premium Blu-Ray companies, ahead of even Criterion, Arrow, Vestron, etc. There should be absolutely no problems with what they put out as they have now become a premium product. Disc scratches, even if they don't affect performance, are not acceptable. How do we know these "cosmetic" scratches will not affect playability 5 or 10 years down the road as the product gets older?

I'm totally done with Scream/Shout outside of my remaining unfulfilled preorders, and will not be buying anything else from them unless it is at a huge discount. I'm not paying premium pricing for subpar products.

I am sure that they have lost a significant amount of sales, due to the higher prices. The late shipments and scratched discs just made matters worse. I agree with the $20 price, as Scream lost 5-6 sales from me that I would have purchased, if they were in the $20 range. I am hoping that Scream get their sh*t together immediately, so I can purchase their new and upcoming titles once again.

Heh, I saw that post too earlier when I was on Facebook Good on Nathan for calling them out like that publicly on their own page, but their response was kind of crap in my opinion. They claim things are not what they seem, but their practices are showing otherwise. I understand the issues with the manufacturing wherehouse may be out of their control, but they're sending people scratched discs, ripped/torn posters, and still not shipping pre-orders that were placed back in July I remember them complaining about low sales a while back on their podcast, so it just seems a tad too convenient that suddenly the only places to pre-order titles now are Amazon and SF! themselves at almost MSRP or full MSRP price and no incentives to lower prices because there's no competition anymore

You know lawyers are involved in writing a statement which takes that many words to say absolutely nothing except "it's not our fault".

Scream talking to customers like an abusive husband. 'Why'd you make us raise prices, baby? You know we love you.' (smashes poster)

I preordered directly from Shout the Creepshow, Halloween 2 and 3 releases with lithographs and have yet to receive any word on them being shipped out to me. I just want my stuff. Anybody get their orders shipped yet? Not buying from them anymore.

i’m not a specific collector or follower of scream / shout, but i do find the differing predominant attitude to direct / exclusive selling price structures fascinating.

personally, i despise it & think it will make the market insular, vulnerable to loss of interest, prohibitively expensive to explore.

plenty are already paying over the odds for primary or secondary access to limited discs - often with little difference to films with wider availability & of no clear extra value - and are helping to create a market that sees it as wise to exploit current interested parties without clear due necessity.

if we did have reason, we wouldn’t have the speculation & disappointment or disgust, or perhaps they fear that is exactly what we would have because they know it’s unjustifiable.

Ive seen other people ask whats going on in a more reasonable manner. Yelling at them about "MY" sweet spot for buying a movie isn't helping the situation. Trick r' Treat and HOHH was up on amazon.ca for $25 CAD ($19 USD) so saying your only option is to pay $35+ was wrong.

Why should we consider buying from a different country to get a reasonable price?

Or how about Shout not suddenly restrict which retailers we can purchase from after six years of reasonable business practices that reflect supply and demand? I shouldn't have to purchase an American product from a foreign retailer because Shout is artificially driving the price up through the lack of competition at the consumer's expense.

After these shenanigans I think Nathan's post was beyond reasonable and expresses the frustration that many loyal Shout customers like myself are experiencing this year.
