Yes that is the case. "Scream" is just the name of Shout Factory's horror line.

Has there been any rumors for the Guyver films? Would love to see those come stateside.

If not, Arrow's blu-ray of the first film is region free. Probably cheaper to import than whatever Scream Factory would charge. And I guarantee Arrow would have better encoding.

Is the framing right on that release of theirs?

Yes, but the Arrow release is missing some gore.

Here, please use these as your opening line when talking about your Shout/Scream purchases in the future...

"Yeah, but this has been my most wanted title..."
"Well, since they are the only company to release it..."
"Just this one time, I'm giving them another chance..."
"I'll double-dip, but only for this title..."
"Wow, I never thought that this would be released on Blu..."

etc. etc. etc.
All of those are actually fine reasons. I'm not kidding. And I'm the guy who said "vote with your wallet".

Buy what you like.

But I would encourage anyone who is frustrated with the prices and practices to hold off on those "on the fence" titles, or double-dips, which will be pressed in large enough quantities to eventually drop in price. I think people are beginning to compare what similar money gets you from other labels, and they aren't seeing the quality from Scream.

For example, Creepshow is my favorite (horror) movie of all time. So, naturally, I ordered direct with all the perks at full price. I won't do that again, because I can wait for Exorcist 2, Silent Night Deadly Night 2, Critters, etc.

And then there's the occasional choice like Candyman, which has what looks to be a smashing release from Arrow.

Speaking of other territories, you know something's wrong when I can get gorgeous region-free chipboard boxed titles, packed with posters, lobby cards, and Soundtrack CDs like Night of the Demon (Indicator) and The Changeling (Second Sight) and When a Stranger Calls/When a Stranger Calls Back (Second Sight) and City of the Living Dead shipped to my house across the pond from Amazon UK for less than Return of the Living Dead Part II from Scream.

So, yeah, buy what you like. If they have your guilty pleasure you've been waiting for, get it. But I would urge collectors to exercise patience and intelligent spending.

As a side note, I would also encourage collectors to exercise caution when considering the purchase of a Shout/Scream release until its been determined there are no Audio or Video-related technical issues with the disc.

The last three Scream titles I've acquired (CREEPSHOW, THE TINGLER and STRAIGHT-JACKET!) all appear to be fine.

Creepshow isn't fine as the 5.1 remix suffers from high pitch and synch issues, even the review posted on this very site points that out.

I'm glad you said collectors...there is a difference sometimes. If you really Love a certain film just freaking buy it and don't let a angry mob stop you. This is movies not civil rights

When you play Creepshow from the main menu does it default to 2.0 or 5.1 audio? I remember watching Black Christmas and being surprised that it defaulted to the 5.1 audio instead of the original mono.

I got my replacement poster for Sleepwalkers yesterday. It was in much better shape. Still a little dinged up on the edges, but nowhere near as bad. I haven't heard anything more about the Creepshow poster & lithograph replacements.

I agree with those saying us swearing off Shout! are correct we're not totally ditching them despite our gripes with their BS attitude from the higher ups as of late

I already paid for SNDN Part 2 and TCM 4 months ago (don't want to cancel them, sorry) and really want to buy The Mangler. I just don't want to support them directly at this moment. Jessie of DiabolikDVD will get my money from The Mangler for sure.

In my case I just wont be supporting them by buying directly from them until they get their act together. I cancelled the orders I had on their site, obviously I kept the ones I already at DiabolikDVD & will just buy the titles I really want (Valentine, The Craft for example) from Diabolik. Anything else I can wait on for a more agreeable price, especially since it doesn't really matter to me if I get a slip or not.

I will not buy from Shout directly.
I will buy Candyman, & Valentine from another Vendor. I will eventually buy Trick R' Treat, once Shout stops the bullsh*t, and gets rid of the scratched discs.

Looks like Critters--the last SF title I was unable to cancel due to processing--still hasn't shipped. Anyone get the set yet? Once again, I feel slighted for paying for it from Scream to get it two weeks early.
