I dont agree with the Conan films having a definitive release,

I wish for release with the different versions of the first film (I think there are 3 cuts)

And I would like Destroyer to have special features (like the ones release out side the US) and also with the to include both the US and the International cut .

...wishful thinking in Steelbooks with the original art (but please no John Carpenter style font lettering)

I'm fine with most of the Scream Factory extras. The latest ones tend to run longer and a bit dry than others. Their best ones might be Halloween 2 and 3? (Not in terms in length, but of quality...I've watched them both several times). The ones done by Red Shirt Pictures are pretty solid. Except well maybe Creepshow which feels like an extension of Just Desserts. And at that point, you're better off just getting the Synapse disc for the real extras.

Shout's new ones from the discs I've purchased aren't nearly as good. They loose steam pretty fast.

But to me, they absolutely beat the bullshit electronic press kit style 2 minute featurettes I find on newer movies by the studios. They're mostly disappointing at best. And for me, after watching a movie I enjoy I'd like to see how they made it and what challenges it took etc, etc. It's been awhile since I've seen a new movie with extras that didn't feel like an extension of the movie's trailer or some advertisement.

Not sure about the Umbrella release but a German release exists with an English language track.

I love the docs they produce for their releases, some more recent examples are Teen Wolf and Urban Legend. Phantasm II was my favorite.

It might be OOP, Umbrella's stuff tends to go OOP very fast. I don't know why. It's a shame since they release region-free discs of a lot of things not out in the U.S. like Beastmaster, Alien Nation, King Kong, The Punisher, No Escape, Silver Bullet... it's quite a long list.

I missed out on King Kong, which gives me a sad.

Anyone have any insight into what the hold-up has been?
I asked Don about it at a recent signing and he said he didn't know since he doesn't own the rights to it like his other films.

That's interesting. I wonder who has it now then. Surely it wasn't acquired by Lionsgate as part of the Anchor Bay acquisition? If so I'd think that, that film would have had enough of a presence to warrant a release from them eventually.

The most recent domestic release was as part of various Echo Bridge multipacks (all of which appear to be OOP), so I don't think it would have been part of Lionsgate's acquisition of Starz. The Beastmaster franchise seems to have one common thread, Sylvio Tabet.

The DVD-R only releases might be available to them. I don't think there would be much interest, from either party, in the Warner Archive titles that were already released on Blu-Ray, unless they were able to get a new or corrected master for TCM III.

Are there particular titles you're inquiring about?

I’m not sure why you would want to pay more.

I believe he was referring to “Heaven & Earth”. If not, then “Wild at Heart” and “Used Cars” have Shout reissues.

I must miss something here, but was there something "wrong" with LEATHERFACE: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III when Warner Archive release it?

Fright Night has a new release forthcoming from Sony, themselves, in a couple weeks.

There's an oval spot in the middle of the picture. Whether you see it or not depends on how you've got your display calibrated.

There’s already two perfectly fine region free releases of “Fright Night” and “Vampires”.

There’s an “oval” effect on the screen (sort of a banding like effect)

You mean that there was an oval spot in the middle of the picture throughout the whole movie, or just some spesific shot, or what??? This is the first time I've heard this.

Edit. I spot it. Sorry, my bad. Thanks for Dailyan.

Edit 2. Now when I'm think about it... I've seen that same goddamn "effect" in other movies as well.

Yeah, it seems like that Death Wish 4 & 5 set just came out and is already only available from 3rd party sellers on Amazon. I imagine you can still get it on the Umbrella site for $38 or whatever is was...
I got it for $18 for what still seems like a lot for 2 admittedly crappy movies but I'm a sucker for those Paul Talbot commentaries....

Yeah I already had 4 but got it for 5 and the commentaries. They didn't disappoint (the commentaries that is, Death Wish 5 is terrible).

I hope Shout does Death Wish 3 someday and make a complete commentary run from 2 through 5.
