The Entity, if I'm not mistaken, is a Fox title that had previously been licensed to Anchor Bay and has since reverted.

Anyway I’ve noticed posts about the releases of the old school horror movies & I’m not one to criticize if people like them, they are not my cup of tea honestly, but kudos to people who are & can now add them to their own collection thanks to Shout.

As a child of 80s and 90s cinema, those are the movies I'm partial to, but I also think that that specific era was the true golden age for horror movies. They have never been better than they were then, and likely never will. And we all know it. That being said, I also get that others like what they grew up with, and have nostalgia towards the movies that influenced/scared/inspired them when they were kids. I don't see much redeeming value in super cheap-o monster movies from the 50s, and they aren't the movies I want to buy on Blu-ray. But I didn't grow up with those, and if you're genuinely excited to buy these for $30 from Scream Factory, I'm genuinely happy for you.
And you like the remakes of The Fly and The Blob? and what do you think of the Universal monster films? This Island Earth is a classic i enjoyed since i saw it on TV in the 80s as a kid and love MST3K's version as well.

It's disappointing that The Entity won't feature a new transfer, but to be expected given Fox's stance on such things. As such, I'm not at all hopeful we'll see TV movies like The Norliss Tapes (unless by some miracle there's a HD master of this already done). I was also hoping for a new 4K restoration of The Fly, but again, unless Fox has carried out the work already...

Anyone know if Quicksilver Highway has a HD master? I think that would be a fun title for Scream.

I suppose this news would also rule out any hope for a US blu ray of The Fly II.

Well there's a HD master for The Fly II (Aus Blu-ray), so I don't envisage any problems with that one. Indeed I'd be very surprised if Scream didn't release it, seems like a prime CE candidate. I would however be surprised if they put out The Fly (Cronenberg's one, for clarification) with the existing master.

I'm expecting Curse of the Fly too at some point, that got an Australian Blu also.

Under the Facebook post announcing The Entity, someone asked how many more they would announce today. Scream Factory responded with a comment stating "We're done for this week and June's announcements".

Kind of made me wonder if one of the reasons they chose to move Bela Lugosi/Boris Karloff to June is just because they needed to fill out the month more.

No new transfer for The Entity? Pass. I don't see the point of double dipping, not for some talking head interviews. Sigh.

I had the ‘12 release for The Entity in my Amazon cart for the longest time and never went through with it. Now it looks like scalper prices, so this CE will work quite nicely for me.

We'll find out soon enough I suppose, but I do find it curious that they'd announce everything for June so quickly. Usually announcements last through Wednesday or Thursday of the first week of the month, so if they in fact did wrap things up today I'd be curious if something else wasn't being planned for later this month. Maybe they somehow managed to snag the home video rights to Leprechaun Returns and are planning a St Patricks Day surprise announcement.

I have a strong feeling they have this one and will probably announce/release it to coincide with the new Bill & Ted sequel.

Is it really a double dip when the original release is OOP and going for a very high price?
This is one of the scenarios that are forgivable in my book.

I gave up waiting for a US release of that a long time ago & just ordered the region free Australian release from Amazon.

Funny people here are questioning why someone would want to buy an "old horror movie" from the 1950s...and yet are thrilled at the prospect of owning The Entity, a movie that is only a few years shy of forty itself. To today's Millennial moviegoers, a movie from the early 80s looks about as ancient as a movie from the 50s did to us back then, so a tad more respect, hmmmm….?
