I'm not on here to stir trouble, just talk movies. My confusion was with the 4K movies, I am pretty much a Blu Ray fan. I honestly don't know much about 4K, I have never seen a 4K movie in person yet. Is 4K better than Blu Ray? Thank you for apologizing and I didn't handle my responses very well, so I apologize to you and that other guy who has the JAWS profile picture.

Pleasantly surprised to come home to my copy of The Brain waiting for me. Scream really is back in track as far as getting things early.

Same here. Was totally surprised by it. I don't even remember getting a shipping email. Looking forward to watching it this weekend.

Well, I think one thing to remember when posting on these type of forums, is if you're going to make declarative statements make damn sure you're right, because people will not think twice about calling you out.

It's also important to realize that the type of people who post to these places are *deep* in the weeds on the technical details that go into making discs. As an example, regarding those Halloween III releases, we aren't even discussing the difference between a 4k disc and a blu-ray. Both discs are blu-rays. What people are discussing is the *scan* of the movie, that is the quality of the video that is then put on the disc. The steelbook release has a 4k *scan* of the picture, which is then output to your tv at the standard 1080 resolution. The Universal disc, I'm assuming due to it's age, would have a 1080 scan.

The difference is only about details, really, and only obsessives are even going to notice in any meaningful way. But that's kinda what this place is about.

No worries! Everyone get's into with someone around these parts every once in a while. The key is to not get TO into it as folks have been suspended and banned.

As for 4k, I won't go into a deep discussion over it as this really isn't the thread for it, but to keep things simple, 4k provides a higher resolution picture (3840 x 2160 pixels, whilst 1080P consists of 1920 x 1080 pixels) but the most noticeable aspect for many folks is the use of HDR (High Dynamic Range) which allows for brighter brights and darker dark's within the same image. Also, color reproduction is improved with 4k so even more colors can accurately be displayed in screen. So, higher quality images, better color reproduction, and better contrast makes 4k sound like a superior format hands down on paper. In real world applications however it isn't always a huge difference, especially when a person has a smaller or cheaper television. There are a variety of reasons as to why a 4k disc wouldn't make for a significant upgrade over a standard Blu Ray, but I'll leave those details alone for now.

Like most things around here, opinions vary on how much of an upgrade it is. Some people will swear by 4k, others will claim that the benefits are exaggerated with most folks likely somewhere in between. I will say that most people agree on one thing though... the fact that there is no region coding on 4k UHD's makes them very appealing from an import standpoint. No matter which part of the world you order a UHD from, it will always play in any other part of the world and their players... something that isn't true on Blu Ray or DVD before it.

NEED HELP...

looking to order creepshow from Amazon but they have two different choices. One from a third party...which comes up first through search for $35. And one for $40 that's directly from Amazon. Does anyone know why this is? I'm worried if I order the $5 cheaper one it wont come with booklet or hardcase.

Both will come with the outer hardbox and booklet as those were not limited and are part of the package on all copies at this time. The $35 one is a 3rd party seller that has choosen to ship its product to amazon for fulfillment. Meaning it's essentially still coming from Amazon as they will be the ones packing/shipping the movie. The $40 one is direct from Amazon at the MSRP of $40. If you must order from amazon, the $35 one will be just fine.

If however you are ok with a bit slower shipping... family video has the film for $24.99. Free shipping kicks in at $25, so find something cheap to bundle with the film and you'll end up saving a bunch. I myself ordered Creepshow from them last fall. It took forever for it to arrive, but it did arrive none the less. My copy likely took so long as it was in pre-order status, but since this has been out for a while and should be readily available I'd wager that the Family video order would ship much quicker if you're up for it.

Thank you so very much for your in depth info. I have Amazon prime..so shipping isn't an issue. Gonna order the $35. You're awesome!

I just paid my monthly dues to Shout Factory...

Lust For A Vampire
The Reptile
Criss Cross
Universal Horror Collection: Vol. 2
The Leopard Man
Strays
Silent Hill
The Hallow

I've already got the Humanoids of the Deep steelbook and the Space: 1999 set (ouch!) on order, so I'm all good.

This morning, I donated all of my Scream Factory Collector's Edition posters to a used music/movie place down the street that is operated by some friends who are like-minded horror fans.

I love the Collector's Edition Blu-rays themselves, but I'm not a poster guy, so the roller packages with the posters were just collecting dust in my closet. I figured it better to give them to people who will find a nice home for them. The store people will keep some of them for themselves, sell some of them, and put some of them up on the walls of the store.

I know that I could have made some coin by selling the posters and, especially, the lithographs here or on eBay, but selling them individually or even together online would have been a pain in the neck.

I am sure Owl can provide everyone with the address of the store.

Let the mass pilgrimage of obsessive horror collectors begin!

I don't buy blu's like Owl does but I probably bought about 15 movies during the so called "sale" and pre-ordered about 5 more. I used one of the 10$ coupons from the sale to pre-order EarthQuake and will use the other one to pre order the Vol 2 horror set. I have never bought so many movies from Shout. Ever.....
