I watched Scared to Death awhile back on Prime Video & also liked it a lot. Yea Syngenor is it's sequel. The German BD for Syngenor is region free so I might grab that sometime or try to get the Synapse DVD for cheap.

Man, I could not limit myself that way.
I mean, I understand everyone has limited leisure time, and you always have to make active choices on what to spend it on and what not to. But personally, I could never limit myself to certain decades or sub-genres. I guess it is the nerd in me: Whenever I am interested in something, I want to know as much as possible about it. Hence when I got interested in horror again back around 2006, I started to go back methodically and watch as much horror from every sub-genre and decade as I could get my hands on. I can hardly count the many new favourites I found that way, plus it gave me a much larger appreciation and understanding of the genre, how it is today and how it came to be that way. |

Same.. movies before 1970 just isnt my style.... except for a few.....I dont find them appealing... but I am happy for people who wanted them on bluray.. just like I'm happy when they come out with what I want... to each there own.... however I do looove the night of the living dead (1968) original and I did like the wasp woman that scream released.. really just depends on the movie.. now that I think about it actually.. I'm not opposed to giving every movie a chance... usually if I'm unsure I will watch it on YouTube or Amazon video...

Everybody's picking on this one line and focusing too much on it. Why don't we all relax. We can't all be expected to like everything ![]() |

You're not in the minority. They can't be selling many of the 50s titles. There's no way. Just because two or three people on here say they like them and have purchased them, that's not the majority. The typical SF collector wants the movies the label made a name for themselves releasing: the good stuff from the 80s and 90s, and we all know what those titles are. Not saying I don't like movies from the 60s and 70s; I do, a lot. Rosemary's Baby (1967) is my favorite horror film. But the thing is, most of the good titles have already come to Blu-ray. Sure, there's still the usual holdouts, and the Paramount stuff, but at this stage, if it's not out yet, we have to consider that it's not coming. Scream Factory's heyday has come and gone. There's no way they can maintain the level of quality film output they've released in years past, because they have to be running out of quality films. Unless they strike that Paramount deal, of course. Aside from the minor surprise here and there, I think Scream Factory is coming to an end. Maybe they will get more Warner titles, or some obscure stuff from Sony, like Outpost. And hopefully they can go out big with a new box set of ANoES. But I'm not counting on it.

*well, yes it's been a decade plus now of blu ray titles being released so of course tons of good stuff has already been released. Perhaps that's why we're seeing some of the older B-grade classics being offered. It's also why so many double and triple dips are coming out. If Scream Factory is "coming to and end" then we might as well jump directly to the numerous end of physical media threads.... |

Expending even a modicum of effort recording new interviews or commentaries for those bottom-feeding early-80s slashers is too much. I think I can count on the fingers of one hand how many could be considered authentically "good". I you grew up with them and found them scary when you caught a forbidden glimpse of them on HBO at age 10, fine, but they do not hold up in any way, shape or form today. No style, no good acting, no suspense, just witless gore and T&A. At least the cheesiest of 50s sci-fi and horror cinema had some actual craft and charm to them.
