All I'll say is that the list of possible Lewton and Universal 50s sci-fi horror titles is getting smaller, so they should get through with them soon enough. And while there are still a large number of classic Universal horror titles, these will be released in box sets, surely at least 2-3 months apart, and so won't take up a large number of slots.

For those who don't like them, the issue is probably the potentially significant number of Hammer titles still remaining. One or two a month seems reasonable to me, though I think they'd be wise to reserve September/October for major Hammer titles (as someone noted above, The Devil Rides Out and Curse of Frankenstein spring to mind).

As I said before, these next two months and the SDCC announcements will be our strongest indication yet as to where they are currently at in terms of deals with major studio partners. On that recent podcast they sounded fairly confident as to the strength of the line going in to 2020, so you would think they have some interesting surprises lined up.

Scream did give us 3 of the best (IMO) Studiocanal titles (Superstition, Manitou and the upcoming Vice Squad) so I'm very happy about these but, yes, I generally share the same sentiments regarding pre-1970 titles. I guess we'll find out next month (at Comic Con) what the rest of 2019 and beyond looks like, even though I haven't really been impressed with the CC announcements the past few years. What will Shout focus on once they exhaust all of the Hammer and Universal sci-fi stuff?

In terms of StudioCanal I expect they'll also have Deep-Star Six in addition to Road Games, Fear No Evil and the six Hammer films. But beyond that I don't know of any other StudioCanal horror that won't be with Kino. That said, maybe they'll surprise me (the Kino Insider originally said that Fear No Evil was no longer with SC in the US, so maybe others passed by him too).

What about Blu-ray’s of previously released Corman films, that’ve yet to get that treatment, such as Attack of the Crab Monsters? Really hoping Scream has more giant monsters in the pipeline.

has SF shared any info on whether or not they are doing a "Summer of Fear" sale this year? last year it started on June 4th so I'd expect to hear some kind of news soon.

I have to imagine The Terminator would outsell Hannibal, but I don't get the impression Shout! will test those waters.

I've heard nothing about it but they've done it every year since 2013 or 2014, so I'm sure it will happen again this year. But the prices are rarely any good, maybe a couple bucks less than normal, and Amazon is no longer competition for them, as Amazon prices are often higher now.

it still seems to be the cheapest way to get their stuff though even if it's not by much, and I prefer ordering straight from them anyway. plus I got some cool free refrigerator magnets a few years ago.

It have a large wish list a some extra cash to burn these sales can get you some nice discounts. Nothing like the old days, but last year I remember being able to get a number of CE's for $20ish instead of $25-28ish.

It's not. Shop around and you'll find better prices/deals without question. The key for most folks to find these deals though is that you need to stay vigilant and active online. I just ordered 4 titles last week, 2 collectors editions and 2 standard editions, of films released in fall 2018 or early 2019 and paid roughly $17.61 per title after tax and shipping.

Scream Factory sales typically have a couple of really solid deals in their sales on older items, but unless you are completely opposed to doing the work online, the Scream Factory sales range from ok to just plain poor.

Someone again asked Scream about Hard to Die/Sorority House Massacre 2, to which they responded:

Scream have been known to distort the truth somewhat when asked about possible releases, but this seems pretty emphatic.

I'm sure you are right, but I generally prefer buying straight from the companies whenever possible even if it's a bit more expensive (within reason, of course - e.g. I'll go to B&N for the Criterion sales). That or my local movie/record shop.

Anyway thanks for the response, hopefully they'll announce something about the sale soon.

Well that blows. That's above and beyond the usual "we have nothing planned at this time" response which effectively kills any chance of that release happening in the next 6-9 months.

Their sales are technically still sales so you are saving some money and I do understand the buying direct argument, but the sales you mentioned with the magnets and coasters were some of their better ones and not representative of what most sales have been like for a long time. Bottom line though, if you're happy with the price you paid, then that's all the matters.

I feel like Jim Wynorski has done that sort of thing in the past; I'm pretty sure he posted similar things about Chopping Mall years before it actually got a release...

I'm still little annoyed about the fake SHM 2/Hard to Die announcement.

It would sell better than a lot of the crap they release, not sure why they don't release it no matter what JW may or may not have done.
