The fact that you would go on the Kino thread and backhandedly diss them while upping Shout Factory is a dick move, especially when Kino put a great deal of care and effort into the Long Riders. That's what I mean by the kind of stupid shit the insiders have to put up with.

It sure is. I've been waiting for this for a few years now. Was hoping it would come from Vinegar Syndrome but Scream Factory works just well.

Yeah, Kino's release of The Long Riders is pretty damned definitive.

Personally, I don't care who releases Extreme Prejudice (or The Driver for that matter, which has been OOP too long)...as long we get it!!!

Nah, I hear ya. There hasn't been much that peaks my interest from Scream lately but it's cool as one of the other labels usually has something for me each month.

I wonder if Scream still has a deal with Warner. At least they still have a deal with Sony, but also wondering about Fox. They released a handful of them recently and then went radio silence. Was really hoping they would release Death Sentence.

Well, sorta. You're right to think that based on the trailers. However it doesn't really deliver on that promise.

It's weird because all the elements are there to make a classic. The lead actor is well cast for the role, but he ends up having very little to do. The soundtrack is killer but it's not used very well. Instead of focusing on the lead character there's a lot of religious mumbo jumbo. I think the script really lets down the film. Pretty disappointing in my opinion.

However it does have it's fans and I'd definitely recommend checking it out yourself. I guess this movie has a bit of a LGBTQ following because of the themes, but it doesn't really deserve it. That's just my opinion though.

The film that was written and shot by the director is quite different from the version that was released. There was a lot of studio interference, and I doubt the original version even exists. I hope there is an in-depth interview and/or commentary from Frank LaLoggia.

Well then it appears there is some misunderstanding in regards to what I posted. Obviously if anyone states that they hope another label releases a title it'll come off as "dissing the other label" by default but that was not the intention of my post. It's pretty fair game to post your feelings on who you hope gets a certain release no matter which thread that particular conversation is taking place which happened to be the Kino thread. No I'm not just going to not post anything in regards to the matter out of the chance that an insider or some label fans might not like it.

I don't own Kino's release for The Long Riders yet so I can't comment on that particular release. Sure, it's loaded with special features. I have no idea how exactly the A/V quality is since there are no screencap comparisons on this site that I've seen or a review of their release on this site and from what I've read there are some transfer issues. If I owned the release and thought it was great I would be posting as much.

More like teenage antichrists. Very nice soundtrack (70/80s rock music) and musical score. One of my favorite movies so I'm pretty happy it gets a release but I'm hoping for a 2K or 4K transfer. Personally I think the movie deserves the "special edition" treatment.

Will be interesting to see if the extras on the StudioCanal Hammer offerings are an amalgamation of the newer featurettes done for the region B releases along with the older supplements from the Anchor Bay DVDs and anything new Scream might conjure up; however it pans out, these Hammer titles, along with the vintage Universal and Lewton titles, are hitting my sweet spot...

Wish I had a clearer memory of FEAR NO EVIL, but I honestly recall the avid support from the two leading genre mags at the time, Cinefantastique and Fangoria, than the film itself!

I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but this comes as no surprise. I watched the film in the theatre recently and thought it was a bit of a mess - a real mixed bag. Definitely a film that seems like it's been tampered with. Glad to see it getting a release though.

Same here MJD - I unloaded my Anchor Bay DVDs in anticipation of these - I have a few of the UK blus but will pick these up if they have different extras/better picture quality.

I still have my Anchor Bay DVD releases of HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN and SCARS OF DRACULA and the commentaries on both are excellent (along with that charming interview with Veronica Carlson on HORROR). Hoping that "Many Faces of Christopher Lee" doc that was provided as a limited edition bonus DVD on SCARS makes it onto this new Scream release...along with those two interesting Lee music videos.

I remember getting the Scars of Dracula DVD and it clearly had the red circle on the front of the cover saying that it had a Bonus DVD with The Many Faces of Christopher Lee and 2 Music Videos, but when I got it home and opened it up, just the disc with the movie, no place for a second disc. Never tried contacting them back then, I was young and really didn't know how to go about doing that then. I've since seen that stuff elsewhere, but it would be awesome if Scream could include that stuff.

And again, another title the Kino Insider believed was no longer with StudioCanal in the US. This leads me to believe that Scream might just have one or two of the following:

Theatre of Death
I Monster
The Johnsons
Food of the Gods II

Some of these may legitimately no longer be with StudioCanal, so we'll have to wait and see.

I hope that Scream can find the spicy "Continental" scenes that didn't appear in the US theatrical version. There may be some brief topless nudity in the "Tunnel of Love" exhibits.

The Blob would be welcomed as well. I could also see them doing Bats, Hostel Part 3, and possibly The Forsaken, which haven't seen releases yet that I'm aware of. Wouldn't be surprised to see re-releases of stuff like Hollowman, Anaconda, I Know What you Did Last Summer.
Pretty sure IKWYDLS is still with Mill Creek because they just reissued it in their Queens of Scream triple feature (with When A Stranger Calls ‘06 and Vacancy), unless they only have the license to include it in multi-packs like Brainscan. That actually might make sense since their solo release has appeared to have gone OOP.

You have been trashing Kino as a label for awhile now so it's a little far fetched to act innocent after you are called out

The only day one purchase for me out of the new announcements is Fright. I can't wait to upgrade the DVD.
