And while I can certainly sympathize with a company spokesperson who must consistently address any litany of complaints and criticism, they are also representing a product for sale to the public as well as the company who manufactures and markets that product. Maintaining their composure in confrontations may indeed be a tough job, but it is still a job and, I believe, their responsibility to do it in as civil and engaging a way as possible. (Check the VINEGAR SYNDROME thread for a perfect example of this). It's undoubtedly true that the customer is NOT always right and, yes, I too have seen comments in these threads that would tax my patience, but regardless it is a poor example set by any company who so easily and dismissively treats their potential customers, no matter how provoked they may feel. SHOUT has failed the public relations test time and time again and deserve no excuses for it. The various KINO insiders have also failed this test in my estimation, proving to be way too sensitive and quick to lash out at what is for all intents and purposes their lifeline, the buyers. Some people are just not cut out to deal with the public and I think we see evidence of that frequently in the KINO thread as well as the CODE RED and especially the DARK FORCE threads. However, where those threads differ from the SHOUT/SCREAM ones is that at least none of them have deserted their post, they keep on trying to do their job, as flawed as the effort might be. I give them a lot of credit for that. SHOUT on the other hand has chosen to simply retreat and that to me is a poor indication of their business ethic. If you can't take any responsibility to openly patronize your faithful customer base when you are given a propitious opportunity like these forums, why are you even in a business that deals with them? |

I've for the most part given up on Dark Force/Code Red releases. Their model for conducting business is too bizarre, unprofessional, and frustrating. You can't just "go buy" releases from them anymore. It's become a random gameshow like event, which isn't what I got into collecting for...

Thanks to Grimfrost in the Evilspeak thread for pointing this out but...
Evilspeak appears to have quietly gone out of print. The listing is no longer on Shouts website and all other retailers are out of stock. If this was one you were sleeping on best get after it. |

I would think that any 20s Paramount or Universal stuff would either be released by Kino or Flicker Alley. Would think there would be plenty of pre-Code horror that Scream could release?

I think it is hilarious that no one is bidding on those $200+ Vincent Price collections anymore. Ever since SF said they would try to put it out again, those scalpers have taken a hit. Beautiful.

I noticed that the Sony/Mill Creek "I know what you did last summer" blu ray is going for $60 which means its no longer available. I would venture to say this one is going to be a Scream release soon.
