FINAL EXAM is lower tier without a doubt... I'm truly surprised that anyone would argue that point--- it's very uneventful at the very least...
still glad to have it in my collection as I find something to enjoy in pretty much all of these movies...

None of the three titles mentioned are great, but I like Final Exam more so than Evil Speak and both more so than New Years Evil. As mentioned above by returnofthemack New Years evil is a chore to watch.

Final Exam is quite good compared to New Year's Evil-- that was wretched!

Evilspeak, however, has such a terrific, over-the-top and memorable finale that it bests all of them

Yeah, I dont get the hate for Final Exam or the claims that it's a borefest.

The movie has engaging and likeable characters, simple but brutal kills spread throughout the runtime, and the most f-ed up school prank ever! I'll take this one over the likes of Prom Night, where the first murder doesn't occur until the one hour mark, and certainly over Don't Go in the Woods Alone (seriously, people think Final Exam is worse than that cure for insomnia?!).

well those are all lower tier slashers as well.....

I'd say Final Exam is at least mid-tier; the isolated rural college atmosphere is palpable, and it accomplishes the relatively rare feat for horror movies of investing us in the characters.

Haven't seen Final Exam, but I saw Evilspeak for the first time last October. Aside from a cool score and some nice gore effects in the finale, I didn't like it at all and thought it was pretty bad.

It's supposed to be bad, that's the charm and like I mentioned earlier... It has Clint!! Man, I hope you guys don't buy VS releases. Aside from the stellar presentations, many of their releases are just flat out BAD..... Maybe it's just me, but isn't this a given on 80% of these releases?? Once and a while, one is a hidden gem, but most are not gonna garner a top 20 on most lists. That's what makes it fun. Turn on the tv, pop the disc in and turn off the world. Yes, I watch plenty of 'meaningful' films that make me think afterwards, but once and a while....C'mon....That's what these releases are for...no??

Scream Factory, Please check into releasing "In The Company Of Darkness" (1993) TV movie starring Helen Hunt, Jeff Fahey and Steven Webber.
Universal released it on VHS.
Please....this is an AMAZING crime drama.

I'll jump in as well. Both Evilspeak and Final Exam were some of my first Shout purchases, both blind buys. As I mentioned in my previous post, really enjoyed Evilspeak, far more than I thought I would. Final Exam on the other hand, wasn't a huge fan. Which is disappointing because I typically really enjoy slashers, they're among my favorites when it comes to horror. Final Exam just didn't do it for me, it wasn't the worst I've ever seen but definitely wasn't close to the top either. Overall, it was pretty average and I haven't revisited it.
