That aside, what are folks thoughts on the "'steel yourself for 2020" comments? Literally the only thing I could think of when I read that was that a new Friday the 13th collection is coming with all films included since the previous "Steel"book release had them that way and the two warner films have yet to show back up. Any one have any other takes on this phrase? I'm having a hard time connecting it to anything in regards to April Fools Day or Tales from the Darkside the Movie. The Terminator seems plausible as well, though that would be INCREDIBLY disappointing If that was what the hint was for.
I didn't read anything into the 'steel' phrase (I didn't sense Jeff placed any emphasis on it). You could be right, but I sense they just have some big things coming in general.

I don't think Paramount releases alone would get them through 2020, and given that potential MGM, StudioCanal, Hammer and Universal titles are drying up, I am hopeful they can get a second Warner deal (though there are still plenty of Sony titles they could put out).

Isn't there an actress named Amy 'Steel' in one of the F13th sequels?

That would be most awesome! SNDN is one of my favorite Scream releases.

Come on Breakdown, Congo and The Golden Child CEs.

Thank you. I was sure there was a connection there I wasnt aware of and that would be it. Cant wait for that one to release. I have a copy of the film I DVR'd a few years back that I burned to disc and am going to be happy to finally have something in HD superior to that.

Probably. I'd hope not given the recent access to a ton of new titles. But, I still expect an April Fools Day release as well next year as well.

I'm just curious why of all the Universal films Murders gets a single release. It's only an hour long. Hopefully lots of extras, assuming it is MITRM which I'm certain it is now they are going chronological on the sets and are now in the 40's. I didn't even notice the last set was chronological when it was announced. Makes me worried no more 30's stuff.

No Night Key, Secrets in the Blue Room, or Mystery of Edwin Drood. Borderline horror anyway but I would have liked to have them.

Aside from 3 more Hammers (which are all with Scream), these that I know of:

Picture Mommy Dead
Homebodies
The Antichrist
Murder By Decree
Deep Star Six
Bloodmoon (1990)

I'm fairly certain that everything on this list aside from Bloodmoon is with Kino. It's possible that some other horror films are also with StudioCanal, like Theatre of Death, Twisted Nerve and The Johnsons - if they are, these will almost certainly come from Scream. But it has been said that StudioCanal have lost the rights to these titles in North America.

Cool info BarnDoor.

Well, no Fly boxset for me. I really figured that one would have a new transfer. Also sad to hear that they still can't get to Dawn of the Dead.

Also was hoping to get some news on more Warner films. Alone in the Dark is way overdue.

Good news is that there will be more Paramount films and hopefully not just films for the Scream label. I wonder if Paramount is only willing to deal with Shout!, but we'll see I guess.

Just a thought, is it more likely the "stand apart" Universal Horror film be Black Castle? It makes more sense since it is nearly an hour and a half and doesn't need a grouping to sell it and Kino already mentioned it with another label. So far all 50's titles have had stand alone releases, and Shout probably would think of it "standing apart": a late and last entry of the "old" style horror Universal put out and a stark difference to their other offerings in the 50's.

Murders in the Rue Morgue only "stands apart" because it currently doesn't fit nicely in a set.

I really enjoyed the new Shock Waves podcast episode. Funny to hear them mention some conversation points from this very thread from a handful of days back.

- Big Trouble in Little China will be a 2-disc release (not sure if this was known already). 12 confirmed people doing interviews, and not yet done.

- New interview with Michael Biehn on The Fan

- Fox won't allow new transfer on The Fly (Cronenberg). Two studios who Cliff won't name (Sony and Fox) that won't allow them to make new transfers.

- 'Tried' to get Sam Neill for The Omen, but a lot of new interviews nonetheless

- 'We know what fans want' with regard to My Bloody Valentine. 2 cuts, 2 discs. They're going to 'do their best' to present the uncut version as best as possible, citing their work on Silent Night Deadly Night by way of comparison. Working with George Mihalka.

- A very helpful person who recently got a job at Paramount and was a fan of Scream Factory was crucial to the breakthrough (I guess this explains why they got their foot in the door ahead of other labels)

- Mary Lambert involved with Pet Sematary 2. Wasn't always going to be a CE until that point.

- Interviews with Talia Shire and Robert Foxworth on Prophecy

- Bringing over previous extras for Road Games and Silver Bullet (I'm not sure if they were referring to the Umbrella editions here, I think they were). New interview with Stacy Keach.

- There's going to be more Universal collections (no surprise). One film that 'stands apart' (surely Murders in the Rue Morgue). That one will probably get a single release. Cliff mentions they're now going chronologically with the Universal Horror collections. Not sure what this means for the other 30s ones they haven't done?

- They do have more Paramount titles to announce. 'Steel yourself for 2020, there's some really good things'.

- All of November's titles have been revealed. There might be one or two surprises in December, but they're not from the Paramount deal. Next time they announce something big will likely be Halloween (so I imagine more Paramount titles). This would potentially be for February or beyond.

- They don't have Blue Steel

- A John Carpenter box set would not be a 'half-assed' effort. Talked about. Didn't rule it out, but didn't sound especially hopeful.

- Can't get into Lionsgate still.

- Likely will not have a path to Fright Night Part 2 or Dawn of the Dead. Also mentions Blood Beach as a title with complex rights issues (suggests Cliff might have an idea though).

- There was a particular title Jeff would have loved to announce at SDCC but they just couldn't conclude the deal in time. (I'm thinking this was Alligator - maybe this could be one of the Halloween announcements?)

- The Blob will be a very stacked release
I hope the new extras for The Omen set has more than just interviews.
I wonder if the some really good things they are referring to for Paramount titles for next year include Friday the 13th.
What do you think the surprises to be announced for December will include?

I'm surprised that there's still no remastered Tremors blu ray.

Me, too. I think I'm just gonna break down and pick up that "Attack Pack" Blu-ray for the time being. I've been wanting to watch the first two films for awhile, but still only have my old non-Anamorphic DVDs. If they ever do announce a new Blu-ray (or even better a box set), then I'll happily upgrade again.

I've been debating on picking that up as well even though I only like the original Tremors. From what I've heard, the transfer in the attack pack is slightly better from the standalone release. This year marks the film's 30th anniversary too.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's next year. I thought it came out in '89 for some reason.
