Haven't seen From Beyond (it's in my unwatched pile) but I highly recommend The Sentinel. It has that great unsettling 1970s atmosphere with fantastic effects and some truly bizarre moments.

I am a huge "Re-Animator" fan, so I was really excited to see another movie starring Combs & Crampton directed by Gordon based on a Lovecraft story. It's not a bad film, it's worth seeing, but if you go in looking for anything like "Re-Animator", you will be disappointed. It has some strong ideas but it suffers from its low budget.

You'll most likely love From Beyond if you're a fan of Gordon's work. Definitely his second best film.

The Sentinel is one of the worst horror movies I have ever sat through. NOT good "blind-buy" material at all.

Yes on both. From Beyond is a Resounding yes, whereas The Sentinel is a soft yes. From Beyond is pretty bonkers from start to finish and is thoroughly entertaining. The Sentinel is a bit more of a slow burn though it too has some really bonkers stuff mixed in. The finale of The Sentinel is a bit of a let down and it was produced during the 70's prior to the larger than life excess found in most 80's productions but is still quite enjoyable. If you enjoy that 70's feel/aesthetic found in films of that time then you will enjoy it. $30 for both is still a pretty easy purchase in my mind.

The Sentinel is fantastic. Its a step above its peers. The commentary track with Michael Winner is worth the price alone. As mentioned the review:

Quote:
Winner is pretty brutally honest throughout this commentary and isn't especially kind to some of the cast (Chris Sarandon might not want to listen to this particular commentary), but is full of great anecdotal information about how the film came to be as well as the shoot itself.

I enjoyed From Beyond more than I thought I would. Actually saw this before Re-Animator, knowing nothing about it other than I got it for a good price and the cover looked pretty crazy. For me, I think I enjoyed it because I had no clue what I was in for and it totally threw a crazy curve ball of a movie at me. Re-Animator ended up being better, but I enjoyed both. I don't really even know what to compare it to because it is so out there. Maybe Return of the Living Dead with elements of Hellraiser and some of The Fly? Trying my best to draw some comparisons for you but probably failing horribly.

The Sentinel I haven't seen yet. Too expensive for me as a blind buy given the mixed reviews I've seen. Also doesn't seem like something I'd watch more than once or twice in a lifetime.

I would like to see Nightmare on 13th Floor get released on BD. I saw it as a kid on VHS rental and the film never received a release after video tape.

My sentiments but for 20s-40s films. They need to hit at least three eras a month, 80s-90s, 50s-70s, 20s-40s. Remember some peoples golden age is older than the 60's.

I'm one of the few people who isn't a big Re-Animator fan but I loved From Beyond when I blind bought it recently. Been wanting to check out The Sentinel.

About half of mine are set for delivery later today and the other half are still processing according to Shout! Factory's website. I'm still in shock they honored these orders....

I'm more than shocked... especially from a company that wants to hold "the bottom line" above all other labels.

As far as I'm concerned it's an insult to the rest of us to honor these prices while we scramble to find releases under $20.....

Blu-ray The Vagrant $0.00
Blu-ray Man's Best Friend $8.99
Blu-ray Road Games [Collector's Edition] + Exclusive Poster $28.43
Blu-ray Silver Bullet [Collector's Edition] + Exclusive Poster $28.43
Blu-ray 8MM $8.99
Blu-ray 10 To Midnight [Collector's Edition] $9.93

They shipped 10 To Midnight, 8MM and Man's Best Friend but The Vagrant still say's processing. Road Games and Silver Bullet were pre-order's so no discount on those. Had I known they were going to honor those price's, I would have ordered more. I doubt they will ship The Vagrant.

Has anyone who ordered something that was $0.00 had that item ship?

$7 is a fine steal for Scars of Drac. I got the german box set that makes them out to about that price so it is hard to pay twice that much for the Shouts just for the new commentaries.
