We don't know much about January right? Body Parts, Lets Scare Jessica and that's it right? I know Pet Sematary II is in Feb, but we don't have much beyond that correct? I'm hoping we get some good surprises next week then.

I had no idea they're reissuing SPM as a steelbook - may have to grab that. I just hope they don't use the same type of art as the Corman steels. They need to set this apart from those.

Here's hoping that the official features reveal for this one reveals that parts 2 and 3 are also being included (thus bringing them back in print) as "special features" for folks that still need them.

On a side note, I asked Shout if they were planning Collector's Editions for Exorcist: The Beginning and Dominion: Prequel To The Exorcist and they said that they don't have any plans at this time.

That is their response to any title you ask about. Means nothing.

There's still a fair few Hammer films. I think the last StudioCanal title - Demons of the Mind - will almost certainly be released in January. Similarly, two titles from the Hammer estate - Rasputin the Mad Monk and The Mummy's Shroud - are likely high up on the agenda. That would realistically leave the following titles from the Hammer deal: X The Unknown The Lost Continent Four Sided Triangle Slave Girls (AKA Prehistoric Women) The Viking Queen I think all of these would require new HD masters, so they may take longer. Moreover, they might not release all of them (I think X The Unknown and The Lost Continent are probable, not sure about the other 3). On top of this, there are Hammer titles from the major studios they may have: Curse of Frankenstein (WB) (Rumour persists they have this) Crescendo (WB) (Rumour has it they have this also) Hysteria (WB) She (WB) Moon Two Zero (WB) Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (Paramount) Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter (Paramount) The Nanny (Fox) The Anniversary (Fox) Shadow of the Cat (Universal) The Damned (Sony) The Stranglers of Bombay (Sony) The Terror of the Tongs (Sony) Creatures the World Forgot (Sony) Last edited by BarnDoor; 10-04-2019 at 04:47 PM. |

I know these releases would drive the guys who want more 80's stuff insane but I would LOVE to have these on blu. You've got Barbara Payton who I have had a thing for since I watched Bride of the Gorilla as kid, Bette Davis at her most wicked and evil, Ursula Andress at her most beautiful (ok she looked great in Dr. No too), Martine Beswick at her campiest and The Viking Queen which has no vikings. Yeah, I would buy these up in a second....

Since TripleHBK also asked what was left of Universal classic horror/sci-fi stuff, I think we're down to these:
Murder by the Clock Secret of the Blue Room The Mystery of Edwin Drood The Missing Guest Night Key The Cat and the Canary The Monster and the Girl Night Monster The Mystery of Marie Roget The Climax Flesh and Fantasy The Inner Sanctum Mysteries (6 films) Captive Wild Woman Jungle Woman Jungle Captive House of Horrors The Cat Creeps The Spider Woman Strikes Back The Black Castle Curucu, Beast of the Amazon Curse of the Undead The Thing That Couldn't Die Cult of the Cobra The Incredible Shrinking Man It's worth noting however that on the recent podcast Cliff mentioned them now going in chronological order, which might mean that they don't have the following: Murder by the Clock Secret of the Blue Room The Mystery of Edwin Drood The Missing Guest Night Key The Cat and the Canary It could be that Kino have Cat and the Canary, or perhaps Scream do and plan on a single release. But of these, I'm surprised they don't appear to have Night Key - admittedly it's not strictly horror, but it does star Karloff. If they have the Inner Sanctum Mysteries, that will surely comprise a set in its own right. And if they do go down that route, I could see there being at least two other Universal Horror Collections, maybe three. What I'm not sure about is the remaining 50s stuff. Incredible Shrinking Man would definitely be a solo release (though rumours persist it's with Criterion). Cult of the Cobra is another of the old Universal sci-fi set titles, so they may also decide to give that a solo release as they've done with the rest. That would at least leave scope for a final 50s-themed set which could include The Black Castle, Curucu Beast of the Amazon, Curse of the Undead and The Thing That Couldn't Die. Keep the Hammer stuff coming. I'm currently caught up on all the Hammer releases, and I've pre-ordered the other 4 coming this year. My most wanted for unannounced titles are: Demons of the Mind, Rasputin, The Mummy's Shroud, The Curse of Frankenstein, Captain Kronos, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell and She. I'll buy the others but these are the ones I really want the most.
Can't wait for Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, one of the very few I've never owned or even seen. The DVD was just way too expensive. |
