Lol, I was thinking only yesterday that they'll probably release Rasputin and X: The Unknown in February.

Of the remaining Hammer estate titles, it will be interesting to see what Scream release. I can definitely see them releasing The Lost Continent (I hope they will anyway), but Four Sided Triangle, Slave Girls and The Viking Queen? I think Slave Girls and The Viking Queen have a chance, not sure about Four Sided Triangle. But I don't see what they'd have to lose.

In terms of other Hammer titles, it seems logical to think they'd have Captain Kronos and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell from the Paramount deal. They may also have The Nanny and The Anniversary from their Fox deal. Shadow of the Cat is another possibility, if indeed Universal have it in the US (and suitable elements exist). I can't see them going for any of the remaining Sony titles (they're probably with Mill Creek anyway), which just leaves the 5 Warner titles, a couple of which are rumoured to be with Scream, but this very much remains to be seen:

Curse of Frankenstein
Crescendo
Hysteria
She
Moon Two Zero

Edit: And you were right about X as well. Also coming February 18th.

I'm interested in this release for a few reasons. First, I'm curious about the film, but also, because is this an IFC release or is this something else? I don't see the usual IFC branding on the cover art.

You guys should have been checking Hamiltonbook because they have sold Scream titles for years at significant savings. I bought Pumpkinhead II for 5.95 last year, and I bought Dead of Winter recently for $7.95. It's too late to check them for bargains now because HB is no longer selling any new Scream titles due to Shout's insistence on their products not being discounted by vendors. You can still get Scream titles like Stung and The Doctor and the Devils for $2.95 while stocks last.

I should say that I already knew that before I posted. If I was really clever I'd have posted it yesterday.

I'm not sure how to define "an ifc release' but I know IFC Films had bought the rights to it so I was anticipating is coming through Scream. Not to talk trash about some IFC Films but this flick is in another league from their usual horror movie/scream factory fare.

There is recent Umbrella release but it is barebones and might not even have a disc menu.

I'm curious if this movie is actually any good or was just made for all shock value. I don't mind if movies have some shocking elements but they still need to have a story or purpose. I also don't want to have to come up with some giant roundabout conclusions as to what the purpose was like it's the director's commentary on the current state of sand dune temperatures in the Sahara desert and how they affect the feet of desert ants or some nonsense.

I think it's a legitimately good. I've watched movies substantially more shocking. I think the film festival crowds are just easily outraged and easily upset by violence.

Yeah sorry, I meant to say that I was uncertain as to whether this was part of the IFC line or not. I was curious because if this was independently licensed it was taking the spot of an IFC film release so I wondered if there was something else going on there as well. Since this is in fact an IFC line film then there's nothing to ponder outside of what features will the film have.

The reception to the film that I have read has been quite divisive so I'm looking forward to finally checking it out myself.

It's a good movie. And, in my humble opinion, actually somewhat tame compared to other of LvT's most extreme works.

Picked up Road Games over the weekend. Looks like they used the same master as the Australian disc, which I expected. It looks....fine considering the source. They had said back when they mastered the Umbrella disc that it was taken from the best source they could find (which turned out to be a theatrical print) so this is likely the best the film is going to look, unless someone finds a better print (which I doubt).

Man this release is stacked, though. They probably should’ve made it a 2-disc set.

Same. Great Christopher Lee film and probably the biggest Hammer omission on Blu-ray in the US. Hopefully they get out all of their announcements today.

I can't see them announcing everything today, but we should get one more. We know Pet Sematary 2 and MBV are coming, so that should leave what, 2-3 more?

Couldn't Four Sided Triangle be paired with Spaceways? It would be nice to have Terence Fishers first two genre films in HD, although they are hardly classics.

A top notch announcement,
but as for the biggest Hammer omission on Blu-ray in the USA,
(and not counting the when-if-ever-restoration of Curse of Frankenstein)
I would put Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell above the Rasputin title.
I will also add that Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter is in league with Rasputin.

Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell really represents the last top notch Hammer Film (despite the issue many have with the Monster). A great Peter Cusing farewell ending (in that film) to the last we see of his Dr. Frankenstein.

SUPER happy that Scream is releasing The House that Jack Built because it was only release on DVD here in Canada. And only in the theatrical cut. Hopefully, Scream can lock down the existing special features since I doubt they'd be creating any new ones for this.
