Hey, no offense. If you are a fan and find her attractive. Just not for me
I just couldn't let that go without Winstead getting her due

I recently watched BC (2006) for the 3rd or 4th time. The only interesting/"good" parts are kind of disturbing. The rest of the movie is rather cringe-y. I do think it had potential overall though and the script feels more lazy than "bad," I guess. Anyway, I would likely still buy a blu-ray from SF at some point and wouldn't mind seeing KC in another slasher flick or thriller (yes, I've seen WASC, but not the ANOES remake).

I was just teasing, hence my No offense taken.

I've been attracted to Lacey since I saw her in Not Another Teen Movie in 2001. Mean Girls in 2004 further cemented that.

But Trachtenberg... stunning ... her wittyness and independence in that movie was wildly attractive.. not that she isnt already...

The cast is what makes Black Christmas '06 an absolute favorite of mine. Not remotely close to the original in atmosphere, character development or general "quality", but still such a fun horror flick. As someone who always loves the supporting female cast in slashers, and ends up rooting for at least one to survive, it was a joy having a 90% female cast - even if most got butchered.

I’m pretty sure that I’m the only person who likes the 2019 remake of Black Christmas.

I mean, it’s not great, and it’s nothing on the 1974 original, but I was entertained enough that I’ll be purchasing the Blu-ray later on.

Discovered something very interesting today. I'm a big fan of The Crawling Eye, a.k.a. The Trollenberg Terror. Noticed while browsing content on my Roku that Amazon streaming recently made a new version of this movie available. It is available for purchase in either SD or HD (that's a first.)

So, I went on my computer to learn more information about this new streaming version. The studio that posted this version happens to be Shout. Here is the link, and if you scroll to the "More details" section you will see that Shout is the studio.
Now, I haven't purchased or rented the HD version (yet), but I am very curious. All of this begs the question - did Shout obtain the rights for this from Wade Williams? If so, does Shout intend to release this on Blu-ray?

I've spent some time browsing Amazon's digital listings and there are a number of films that Shout currently holds the rights to that have yet to be announced on Blu Ray. No one can say for sure whether yours or any other titles will see a release, but I'd wager that the odds are fairly good it will show up eventually.

I'm really curious about the quality of this release. There's another version that's been on there for a while that is free to Prime subscribers from Renown Pictures (under the title The Trollenberg Terror), but the quality is atrocious. The Image DVD has for years been the best way to watch this movie. It is widescreen and a pretty good presentation. But I'd love to upgrade.

I've been hoping for a Blu-ray release for years now. Didn't think that would be possible because Wade Williams owns it. With rumors abound that Susan Hart may have made her collection of movies available to Shout or some other distributor for Blu-ray release, wouldn't it be nice if that were the case with Wade Williams, too? He also owns the rights to Invaders from Mars and Golden Age 3-D titles like Robot Monster and Cat Women of the Moon.

I'm tempted to take a chance on this new HD streaming version of The Crawling Eye. Amazon provides no sample of the movie, so the only way to find out is to pay to buy or rent it. Renting is out of the question. Better off paying a few extra bucks and own it for life. But I'd hate to do that and learn a month from now that Shout is preparing to release it on Blu-ray, because then I'd have to double dip.

Scream may also be able to get hold of Paramount titles formerly with Olive, such as Ticks and Night of the Scarecrow (I believe these two are OOP?)

I know you talked about this at the top of the month. But would the only two unreleased Sam Raimi films, A Simple Plan and the Gift, be Paramount titles that could see the light?

Considering everything else folks are wanting from a Paramount deal I'd say that this is doubtful though in theory possible. Since neither are horror films I wouldn't hold my breath.

Great discovery! It would be fantastic if we could finally get a new physical release of The Trollenberg Terror/ The Crawling Eye!

2020 could be a very interesting year for us fans of old sci-fi/ horror with this and the rumor about the Susan Hart movies.

IIRC I actually read a comment somewhere once that Wade Williams was the one advising Susan Hart about her titles. Don't know whether it's true, but it makes sense considering they both have the reputation of being completely unreasonable in their demands.

I really hope Shout have been able to strike a deal with both of them.

Shout Factory had The Crawling Eye licensed for several years for their Mystery Science Theater 3000 release. Generally those titles are licensed only for use for MST3K but sometimes Shout can do other things with them.

I might have to bite the bullet and pay the $9.99 for this streaming HD version. Was hoping some other brave soul would be the first to dip his/her toe and report back. I'd hate to pay the money and discover it's merely an upconverted version of the same Image edition I already own on DVD. Or worse, the same atrocious streaming version from Renown. At the same time, it'd be nice to see it cleaned up and restored from the original negative, and presented in widescreen like the Image DVD. This is a very underrated 50's science fiction film.

Wade William's doesn't own much of the stuff he claims he does. He combined the UK and US version of invaders from Mars and 'copyrighted' the new version.

Bit the bullet on The Crawling Eye and I can tell you that this is much better than the DVD version, picture- and sound quality wise. Unlike the DVD, this is the American version, and is called The Crawling Eye in the opening title and not The Trollenberg Terror. Shout or somebody definitely did some work on this, too, because it looks better than ever, and it is presented in widescreen. Hope there's a Blu-ray coming chock-full of special features.
