I haven't started on this project because the shorts are being transfered. Not sure you are hearing this from. I acquired the shorts from Sony.

As I've said before, Arrow's release of The Funhouse (which is now region locked, although I managed to snag a fully US-playable, region-free one when it was available) is fantastic, but I'm happy to see Shout release it here, as I'm sure it'll be top-notch. |

But... this thread has shed some light on things, especially regarding Sony and licensing. Consider: Echo Bridge from Sony = Bare bones, budget pricing Shout Factory from non-Sony = Lots of extras, mid-tier pricing Twilight Time = Bare bones, premium pricing In fairness, given that both Twilight Time and Echo Bridge take the transfer given to them and do nothing to it and add nothing to it... it's amazing that we have such a disparity in the pricing from $5 to $30 for essentially the same caliber of work. Shout, on the other hand, not only provides a ton of extras and has been commissioning new art... but also does some work with the transfer at least sometimes like with Halloween II tweaking... so I have to say it is an easy answer that Shout is providing the best bang for the buck... and I'm not just saying that because it is the right thread ![]() I wish I could justify buying Halloween II again, but I can't... knowing that I want and need Halloween III, The Funhouse, They Live, and Phantasm II... plus who knows what else Shout hasn't announced yet that I will want. But I have zero quibbles about what Shout is providing for the money they are asking. I never expect bargain-bin values (though I'll happily pick up things like Impostor finally found today at Best Buy for $5.99)... but it's hard to justify $30+ barebones when for around $20 you can get loaded releases from a company like Shout. |

Cliff, or anyone else that may know, when does Echo Bridge's licensing deal expire for "Prom Night"? In addition, when it does, who do the rights revert back to? I know it's been said plenty of times, and trust me after this first wave of Scream Factory titles I'm far more interested in titles that have never seen a DVD/Blu-ray release before, but "Prom Night" is just dying for the Scream Factory treatment.

Hell yes on Prom Night. Outside of the more obvious franchises, this was always my favorite slasher film. I had to buy multiple copies before finding one that was even watchable (Jamie Lee with bouquet/axe cover) and even that transfer is pretty yucky, with the OAR squished into 1.33 for some reason. Thankfully the stretch feature I have fixes it, but the quality is all the more exposed.

I would buy the shit out of a Prom Night blu box set. The first one is classic and the following films are horrible fun.

I still have my original Anchor Bay copy of Prom Night from 1998, and would gladly replace it if a Blu Ray version came along (Preferably from Scream Factory.)
I would also take a blu of Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, a total guilty pleasure for me. Last edited by Blu-Dre; 08-27-2012 at 10:56 PM. Reason: Forgot the "Lou" in Mary Lou, haha! |

Silent Night, Deadly Night
I know this will more than likely never happen as this movie is harder and harder to find but man would this be great on Blu-Ray. Even with the gore scenes that are in the DVD of lesser quality. I soooo want this on Blu-Ray. What sucks is that in the intros for the Arrow Blu-Ray's I have there is a clip or two from Silent Night, Deadly Night and I can tell it is indeed 1080p quality. So, someone PLEASE release this! Arrow? Scream Factory? Scorpion? Anyone!!! |

Army of Darkness would be sooooooooo cool if they released it with both versions just like Anchor Bay, had it completely uncut with that brief nudity and a sharp transfer ( the Hong Kong MGM DVD )
Port over the commentaries, bonus features and youd have The Ultimate Edition of AOD !! ![]() (well weve had the Boomstick, the Collectors, so why not the UE) |

I've been waiting for a high def release for awhile now, Scream Factory seems like a great choice to me! Definitely take Hello Mary Lou as well. |
