The rumour mill points to this coming from Scream, but I suppose the complex and expensive nature of the restoration is the reason for the delay. Hopefully we'll see it by the end of the year.

Interesting month. Would have liked some more titles, but it's not the end of the world. Will probably pick up Escape from L.A. and Curse of the Werewolf as I never bought those.

How is Captain Kronos? I've heard good things, but never checked it out.

One day of announcements and my monthly pre-order limit for April is already met. Great month.

Kronos is awesome, one of the better 70's Hammer films.

Well, first they will announce that they couldn't secure the materials for a remaster.. Then, in a year or two, they suddenly find the materials to do a 4K remaster, and they'll slap that in said Steelbook, to push sales. Done.

Who here has seen The Spider? I'm wondering how it compares to other 1950s creature features.

It doesn't compare well to movies like Tarantula but it's still B-movie fun. On the bright side, the MST3K version will probably be included as a bonus feature.

Dunno. I'm lukewarm on the announcement but if they come out with a steelbook and a fresh scan, I'm in.

It's not a Scream Factory title, but Hammer fans may be interested to know that Shout Factory are also releasing Shatter on 28th April

We seem to be getting Hammered, on a near monthly basis, so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

Brides and Werewolf are the only 2 in the 8 film set I'd double dip for.

I know what you mean, but I just can't see them re-doing everything on that Universal set. Paranoiac? Nightmare? Captain Clegg? Kiss of the Vampire? Aside from the two I mentioned, I could perhaps also see a CE of Phantom of the Opera, but I just don't see much sales potential (and room for extras) with the rest, even with improved transfers.

Over on the Hammer Horror on Blu-ray Facebook group George Reis has sort of teased this won't be the only Universal Hammer from Scream. Beyond titles from the set, perhaps they might also have Shadow of the Cat? In terms of unreleased (in the US) Hammer stuff that would (just about in some cases) fit the Scream brand, I believe we're now down to these:

Four-Sided Triangle (Hammer)
Slave Girls (AKA Prehistoric Women) (Hammer)
The Viking Queen (Hammer)

Curse of Frankenstein (WB)
Crescendo (WB)
Hysteria (WB)
She (WB)
Moon Two Zero (WB)

The Damned (Sony)
The Stranglers of Bombay (Sony)
The Terror of the Tongs (Sony)
Creatures the World Forgot (Sony)

The Nanny (Fox)
The Anniversary (Fox)

Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (Paramount)

Shadow of the Cat (Universal)

One newer title and it's already been out on Blu-ray. You're saving me money Scream/Shout, thank you! MBV is the only title I'm really looking forward to coming up.

I am not sure if they have worked SteelBooks as part of their licensing deal with Paramount, Warner Bros & Sony.

All their SteelBooks have only been for Corman titles (Which they own), MGM, FOX and Universal.

I'm glad to see a heavy Hammer month! We knew many of them were still coming so let's just get through them asap. The addition of a Universal one is a surprise, too.

As far as "Curse of the Werewolf", wasn't that one of the titles that was in the wrong aspect ratio/cropped on the Universal set? If presented properly here, that will make it well worth the upgrade, as it's one of Hammer's best.

I've decided I'm not going to complain about "lackluster" announcements because, at this stage of the game, the majority of my personal favorites are already out on Blu so anything that comes out now that I might enjoy is icing on the cake. April Fool's Day and Let's Scare Jessica are grails for me so I'm very happy about those. I've already preordered Jessica from Shout and plan to do the same for AFD.

That’s a good point. Paramount has always been a little wonky with their catalog steelbooks. Hopefully SF can work something out.
