My guess is there's a bunch of Fox content they want that's family friendly up to the "PG-13". Beyond that they probably don't want to tarnish the Disney image by throwing something like Turistas on there. Unfortunately, I also don't think those less appropriate movies will be a priority for them. Maybe in a couple years if someone important enough finds a way in they'll talk about licensing to other companies or for the huge hits that are more than guaranteed sellers. Other than that, I would expect them to pop up digitally on services outside of Disney+ (streaming via Netflix and/or iTunes, etc.). Just my two cents, I have no inside knowledge or otherwise.

Let's just hope that Disney doesn't get their mitts on more studios, like MGM. We may as well throw in the towel if they do. I wonder if it was always Walt Disney's plan to buy up every studio and TV network in existence. Aren't there laws against monopolies?

Default Blurry Case Art

Random question here. I recently bought Scream Factory's Sleepaway Camp Blu-ray directly from Amazon, and while everything seems in order, the case art (no slipcover) is slightly blurry. Compared to my other Scream/Shout blus, including the Jeepers Creepers blu I ordered alongside Sleepaway Camp, and every bit of text and image on those covers is crisp and sharp, whereas Sleepaway Camp has a slightly lower resolution almost like a bootleg.

I do not think it's a bootleg though, maybe just a bad printing batch? I opened it up and the discs are pressed, the reversible art is there, and the disc played without a hitch with menus and special features in tact. I set up for an exchange from Amazon but the copy I got in return had the same blurriness. It's only really noticable with smaller text like the technical specs and movie summary on the back, but I was wondering, has anyone ran into this situation before?

Thanks!

I hope either Disney or whichever studio gets the licensing rights to the Home Alone franchise will eventually release a special edition of Home Alone 2. Love that film and am surprised we haven’t had a release with bonus features 20 years after the original DVD release.

I think some other members reported similar issues with some later pressings of certain titles like Swamp Thing. May have something to do with the change of manufacturing plants.

When I was about eight-years-old back in the late 1970s, I noticed in the TV Guide that X the Unknown would be telecast on Channel 5 out of New York during the early afternoon on a school day. It was raining that day, and my dad, a construction worker, was home from work. I pretended to be sick that day and stayed home. Later, I was sitting in front of the TV watching the movie, and right after a scene where a guy's face melted off his head, my dad angrily stated, "Now I know why you didn't go to school!"

Finally pre-ordered the MBV deluxe edition. Glad it didn’t sell out yet. Loving those posters.

I also ordered a couple of days ago. Surprised the LE didn't sell out yet.

Now that Escape From L.A. is "in the can", this makes the possibility of Shout releasing Breakdown (currently my most-wanted Paramount title) more plausible. I was afraid they were only interested in Hammer or other older horror films.

A) I got SLEEPAWAY CAMP as a gift for Christmas (and I’m positive it was ordered from Amazon). My copy looked fuzzy like yours.
B) Yes, Amazon copies of SWAMP THING a couple months back looked similar. I assume they’re not bootlegs as everything else looks legit. What’s interesting is the stock used for the cover insert on both titles is thicker than all other SF releases I have. I even emailed SF about the SWAMP THING discs, but they never responded.

I really like Escape from L.A. but I'm happy with the old blu.

I was extremely underwhelmed with Curse of the Werewolf so I'll skip that as well.

Definitely grabbing Earth vs The Spider.

Song of the South is a Disney branded title, which means a zero chance as they never licence out any titles from within the Disney brand (with the exception of Gravity Falls, but that was due to it's creator pushing for a complete series release) and is one they don't want seen in the current PC landscape due to obvious reasons.

What didn't you like about it? I was going to blind buy it even though I am not a fan of most Hammer horror. I like Oliver Reed and read that this was his first lead role. I also blind bought Hammer's The Mummy and loved it. I have read that there really isn't much action which gave me pause. Is that why you weren't impressed? I have been burned on a few Scream blind buys and don't want to do that again. They are way too expensive. Thanks for your help....

If Disney was going to buy MGM, it would of happened 15 years ago when MGM almost folded!!! Disney definitely wanted The Wizard of Oz (1939) at certain points of time and then all of a sudden MGM sold it to WB, so I think that might have caused a feud between Disney and MGM... since I could only see Disney buying the company for those Ruby slipper rights!!!!

This despite their 9 Paramount announcements prior to April's slate ranging from 1975-1992?

Given their Carpenter love I don't think there was any question they'd go after Escape from L.A. - it was just a question of whether or not Paramount would give it to them. I sincerely hope we see Breakdown at some point.

Curse Of the Werewolf was always a top tier Hammer film when I was growing up but it gets a lot of indifference on these forums.

It does take awhile for the werewolf to appear but I think it’s one of the most iconic “looks” of a werewolf.. awesome make up! I found the story interesting as well and I’m an Oliver Reed fan so these things added to
My enjoyment. Hammer films are hard to recommend because they all have pacing issues so even when one likes one flick it doesn’t mean they’ll like another.

While I like and collect pretty much all the Hammer flicks I’ve always found Evil Of Frankenstein to be a bore and yet it seems like it has a lot of fans here!

Hope you like it if you gamble on buying it

Yeah, I was just being flippant.
