We are only about a week away from May's announcements. It seems like we are getting about two Paramount titles a month? So I wonder what's in store for us there. I'm thinking they might be saving their bigger titles for closer to Halloween (Tales from the Darkside, the Dead Zone), so hoping for something like Orca soon.

Also, I wonder if the Hunted with Tommy Lee Jones might get a release? It is about a killer on the loose and they have released titles that are from less horror than this. (Vice Squad)

Family Video manged to get LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH in my mailbox right on time. JESSICA is one of my personal favorites, so it's going to be hard to top this one in 2020 for me.

I'd never ordered from Wicked Visions Media until tonight, but I decided to take a chance and the total shipped from Germany was $38.50.

Anyone interested I'd encourage to grab a copy while you can as these likely won't last long nor will they likely see a repressing.

My apologies for the non-scream factory related bump but my copy arrived today from Germany and I thought a few of you may be interested in seeing what it looked like. Wicked-vision still has 10 copies of this cover in stock and has recently listed a stripped down standard edition for pre-order for those interested.

Sorry for some of the wonky photos. The blur effect was apparently on/strong when taking the photos. The Purple/Green disc in the photo is the replacement disc that was sent in a white sleeve with the sealed set. The Blue/Red disc in the sleeve was removed from the set. The other 2 discs are dvd's, 1 for the film, and 1 for extras. If you know German this edition has a 22 page write-up. Sadly I do not know German and so I'll be looking for an online translation to print and insert into my copy.

Picture quality and audio quality looks stellar after a cursory glance. Special features appear to all be in english and extensive. This was a definite step up from the French release. Now if only one of our American distributors could get a hold of the film and release their own edition. For those not wanting to take a chance, I highly recommend this edition and Wcked Visions. My copy arrived in 20 days in a box and required signature confirmation. Packing was pretty lousy in the box, but things arrived safe and sound regardless.

So a lot of my Shout/Scream factory blu's arrive scathed. For 2 disc sets mainly they will be fixed to the hub but there's always scuffing on the info side of the discs sorta like "cloudy" smudges. I am able for the most part to carefully wipe them away with a dry napkin. Is this the norm for how everyone else receives their discs specifically from Shout?

They never stopped carrying the older titles. Anything newer than the last year however they are unlikely to have for sale.

They've got the Sliding Doors Blu-Ray up for purchase. Looks like they've got new releases for purchase again.

So weeks after emailing Scream Factory about the blurry print on the covers of both SWAMP THING and SLEEPAWAY CAMP, I got a response that basically amounted to “bootleg copies of our releases are often sold on Amazon. If you have proof it’s a bootleg, let us know so we can investigate. Sorry.” I responded asking for replacement cover inserts as they’ve done for others. I wasn’t really worried about it, but it’s odd they offered them to others who brought these poor print jobs to their attention. I’m also waiting on the second part of an order I placed almost three weeks ago direct from Shout. I’m hoping they could include them once that gets shipped out. We’ll see how they respond.

EDIT: Almost as soon as I posted the above I got a response -

Sorry for any confusion. A new associate who responded earlier was not aware of this existing issue of poor printing for these otherwise legitimate releases.

I do have some of the last spare artwork we have for both SLEEPAWAY CAMP 1 and SWAMP THING (this version : https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=2175).

HELLHOLE will ship from our depot rather than directly from our office, so I can't include the art with that order, but I can ship to you address...

So far my experiences with Shout’s customer service has been pretty spot on.

I stand by my comment. Sliding Doors aside, I just searched for around 25 different releases from the last year and only found three listed on the site.

-Slumber Party Massacre steelbook
-The Omen Collection
-The Green Inferno

We all know Best Buy has a boner for all things steelbook and the fact that this is just a re-release from a title they already carried really doesn't surprise me much. The Omen collection is again a franchise that they have always carried and is really well known, so not surprising. The Green Inferno is perhaps the most interesting of those mentioned but not much really when one considers it is still essentially a "new" film, being only a few years old.

Best Buy appears to carry a random title here or there (new or old), but they are most certainly not carrying the new releases from Shout Factory in any sort of consistent manner that folks can count on.

Nice find! I'm pretty meh on the announcement but I could see this one being a Collectors Edition.

Idle Hands is a Sony title, so I wouldn't count on a new transfer. At the very least, though, it should port over the DVD extras including the alternate ending, which, I believe, were all missing from the RLJ Blu-Ray.
