June is going to be an amazing month from Shout. Now, the big title from Paramount that I would love to see them release is the Dead Zone with a Walken interview. From Warner, I really hope Alone in the Dark and Deadly Friend aren't too far away.

Do you guys remember like maybe 6 months ago there was some guy here who was leaking stuff and we all thought he was a joke. Didn't he mention Orca as a guaranteed title, and didn't he say Scream had a second deal with Warner and 13 Ghosts was one of the titles? He got banned and I think all of his posts have been deleted, but I'm trying to remember what other titles he said were coming for sure. I think King Kong '76 was one of them.

In for all the new announcements except for TALES OF THE DARK SIDE, THIRTEEN GHOSTS, THE HILLS RUN RED and ORCA.

Just the new Universal Collection for me, but happy for those who enjoy the others!

Long live physical media.

Absolutely. I have the old Warner double-feature Blu where it's paired with PRACTICAL MAGIC and it definitely deserves its own release sporting a new transfer. It was such a tumultuous production I can't imagine anyone involved wants to talk about or revisit it for a proper SE, which is a real shame; WITCHES is tonally all over the map, but it's great fun and the performances - especially Nicholson, who was born to play the Devil - are a delight. Vilmos Zsigmond's anamorphic lensing is terrific and the often whimsical John Williams score is one of his best and most underrated.

Scream giving us SE's of DEAD CALM, as well as Brian De Palma's FEMME FATALE and THE FURY (which features another wonderful John Williams score) would certainly make my 2020.

As usual I'm with you MJD, especially for FEMME FATALE as I don't think that has shown up on blu anywhere in the world. I have the Arrow FURY but would buy an upgrade with more extras - like you I'm a sucker for De Palma!

Warner Archive might release Femme Fatale themselves.

It'll be interesting to see how this new 'Paramount Presents' line corresponds with Scream's releases. They've announced The Golden Child, which could have been Scream fodder, and I wouldn't be surprised to see remasters of The Warriors, perhaps even the Friday the 13th films (all eyes on this Friday perhaps). I wonder if they might issue something like War of the Worlds and Young Sherlock Holmes themselves?

A reminder of the remaining possibilities for Scream (I may have missed some things). Firstly 'new' titles:

[Show spoiler]When Worlds Collide
War of the Worlds
The Naked Jungle
Conquest of Space
I Married a Monster from Outer Space

Blood and Roses
Lady in a Cage
The Vulture
The Penthouse
No Way to Treat a Lady
Targets

Unman, Wittering and Zigo
The Possession of Joel Delaney
Lipstick
King Kong
The Shadow of Chikara
Bloodline

Dragonslayer
Mommie Dearest
The Dead Zone
Fighting Back
The Keep
(I know)
Explorers
Young Sherlock Holmes

Intruders
(TV)
Fire in the Sky
The Temp
The Langoliers
(TV)
Rumpelstiltskin
Vampire in Brooklyn
The Ghost and the Darkness
Breakdown
Night of the Demons 3
Switchback
The Haunting

Bless the Child
The Gift
What Lies Beneath
Domestic Disturbance
Red Eye
The Ring Two
The Loved Ones

And possible re-release, double-dip CE or box set candidates:

[Show spoiler]The Warriors
Friday the 13th Parts I-VIII
The Addams Family
Addams Family Values
Congo
Event Horizon
The Relic
Sleepy Hollow
The Ring

Scream may also be able to get hold of Paramount titles formerly with Olive, such as Night of the Scarecrow.

I saw FEMME FATALE opening night in 2002 - sadly, I haven't seen a De Palma film theatrically since, and his films are made for the big screen.

I did revisit my Warner DVD recently and as (wonderfully) bonkers as the plot is, this is a terrific example of De Palma playing with genre conventions and archetypes in a way so intoxicatingly stylish and cinematic you can't help but succumb to it - and De Palma's devilish sense of humor is always a pleasure.

Antonio Banderas is actually pretty great - and funny - as our rather befuddled "hero", and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is so statuesque and sexy as our "bad girl" femme fatale she functions almost purely in visual terms - I don't know that I can call it a great performance, but you can't take your eyes off of her.

WAC, Shout/Scream, Criterion, I don't care - some label release this deliriously entertaining film sometime soon!

Looks like the new Paramount line is just for "culturally important" films. I see people asking for movies like Summer School and Friday the 13th. I guess whatever gets people worked up is good for physical media.

All the talk of a new F13 box set is in vain considering the rights issue going on with the property at the moment. It looks like it could be settled sometime this month, but I doubt anything is ready for announcement right away.

That said, I’d love to be proven wrong as the set I have is the super cheap o recent one. A new set with a proper 3D Part 3 and Uncut GOES TO HELL would be a nice surprise.

The Golden Child is confirmed as part of the line, and I'm not really sure how that qualifies as "culturally important".

BarnDoor, great list. I would for sure consider A Simple Plan as part of that list. If they have access to the Dreamworks films like Red Eye, I would say Perfume: Story of a Murderer would also be a contender.

There are a few films that I would throw into question marks like The Hunted with Del Toro. If they can put Vice Squad on the Scream label, I would think the Hunted would be a safe bet.

So some Paramount titles that Scream Factory were thought to have might just be released by Paramount themselves. What will happen to their MOD line?

And don't forget, Australian label Imprint has what looks like a good deal with Paramount.

All in all, this Paramount Presents line is great news! More labels should mean more movies on blu-ray.

The next question is: what about 4K UHD releases?

BarnDoor - since Paramount never released "Cheech & Chong's Still Smokin'" (even though they announced it), it might be worth adding to the list, they've already got "Next Movie" and "Born in East L.A." in the Shout Select line.

I'd rather stick to Scream Factory fodder - however borderline - as otherwise it could end up getting out of hand.

I'd be surprised if A Simple Plan ended up in the Scream line, seems more like Shout Select material to me. Perfume would probably also end up there too, though that one is more open to debate in my book.

Vice Squad had all that wonderful 80s sleaze and violence - and Hauser's brilliantly psychotic Ramrod - which made it a pretty natural fit for the Scream line. Again, I think The Hunted is more of a Shout Select kind of title. But I may as well add them to the list just in case.

I thought the rights issue was only for new content being product, not existing content. I don't think that would effect any home media releases...

I wonder if Corman himself has the actual neg for The Terror, since it was a Filmgroup production that AIP distributed. I think he added some new stuff with Dick Miller back in like 1990 in an effort to get a copyright of some sorts on it. If Corman did have original elements, Scream! may be able to give it the same treatment that they did for The Wasp Woman, if the Corman lawsuit ever is resolved.

Disney has the proper elements for The Bat, which is how Anchor Bay did their DVD way back in the day. Unfortunately, Film Detective has released a print-sourced BD-R, which may have taken some of the urgency away from a Disney-friendly label like Kino Lorber to do a proper blu.

You’re right. Technically, they aren’t legally bound from releasing a new set. I just feel like the legal thing is such a mess that the decision makers for a release like that would probably think twice before making such an announcement until the dust settles. I’m afraid for the 40th anniversary all were going to get is that steelbook release of the first film.

I'm actually surprised Criterion hasn't gone for A Simple Plan, it's definitely a worthy film for their collection. I'd also assume they'd be after The Tenant to finish off Polanski's apartment trilogy....

I believe that vault elements for THE TERROR and DEMENTIA 13 (including the rarely-seen D-13 Test prologue) are stored with MGM, although MGM may not own the copyright to those films.

DEMENTIA 13 received a 4K restoration in 2018, and that version, with the prologue, has played some film festivals.

I don't know if THE TERROR has also received a 4K restoration or not.
