Well, the Lady In White sold out. Here's what's left of these OOP in 2020 titles: bit.ly/2x0zWPI_OOP2020

Less than 125: Monkey Shines, Pumpkinhead II
Murders in the Rue Morgue/The Dunwich Horror

Less than 50: Species II, Jeepers Creepers 2, Braddock: Missing in Action Part III
I get Monkey Shines and Pumpkinhead II going OOP they've been around for 6 years and more, so I could see the deal expiring! But Species II and Jeepers Creepers 2 are only 4 or 3 years old. It just seems like a short window before expiring. I'm wondering if SF is letting them go OOP before their deal expires because they were poor sellers and they don't want to invest in a second or third printing before the deal ends?

Pumpkinhead II was a $5.95 or so title for ages through Hamilton Book. A few others have popped up on there as well even after going out of print and so I'm hoping that SF are using them as a last resort to clear some of these out. I was really pleased to get several a few months ago for under ten bucks each. Right now I'm just not too eager to spend ~$20 a movie even if they may be double that as soon as they are out of stock through Shout, BB, Amazon, etc.

I'd love to nab The Thing steelbook for the 4K transfer, but I'm considering just picking up the regular Scream Factory edition for the extensive bonus features with the assumption that the 4K transfer will be available on UHD at some point. Decisions, decisions.

So the Criterion Collection is going to be releasing The War of the Worlds so scratch that one off your Scream Factory-Paramount wish list. Probably better off there anyway and there's still lots that Scream can try and get their hands on from the studio.

It's all included in the steelbook. Might as well get it.

So, we finally have an answer for this one, maybe we will also hear about I Married a Monster from Outer Space soon.

It looks like most (if not all) of the recent Scream titles to go out of print were licensed from MGM. How likely is it that another label will be able to license those titles from MGM? And will other MGM titles go OOP soon?

I ask because I am not sure if MGM’s catalog is still controlled/distributed by Fox, meaning that it is all under the Disney umbrella now.

MGM titles are just being distributed by Fox, and IIRC that deal expires in June. MGM can still make licensing deals with other studios like they’ve done with just about everyone except for Code Red.

I wonder if Criterion has the Dead Zone as they love David Cronenberg.

They do, but then they lost out to Dead Ringers to Scream, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the same was true of The Dead Zone. You could make a case that Criterion would have wanted The Tenant, but then in this day and age it's possible they would have passed on it in any case.

People are thinking that this heralds a new Paramount deal for Criterion, but we'll have to wait and see. The timing suggests Scream got in there first (certainly we know Kino weren't in quickly with this one, in contrast to the StudioCanal dealings, where it seems Shout, Kino and Criterion were all making agreements around the same time). If Scream did make their deal before Criterion, I suppose there are three possibilities:

1) They passed on War of the Worlds (this will seem very unlikely if they end up releasing Paramount's other 50s sci-fi films)

2) They weren't willing to pay whatever Paramount were asking

3) It wasn't available for licencing at the time of their arrangement for whatever reason, perhaps because Paramount at that point intended to release it themselves.

I don't know what the answer is, but I do think The Dead Zone will end up coming from Scream. They've mopped up most of the big 70s-90s Paramount horror titles so far and I can't see them letting this one get away.

Yeah, if I was a betting man, I'd say you're right. Still, I would have thought War of the World was coming from Shout, so nothing is for sure. Still, hopefully we'll know soon enough. At the end of the day, I just want the Dead Zone on Blu-ray here. Would love for some new interviews as well.

I'm just praying to whomever for Scream/Shout to get to Raimi's final two films that haven't been released yet. (And Zemeckis' only horror film too)

Isn’t there a spot to suggest movies for them to revisit and remaster?

Honestly, there’s a movie that fits their mold and it’s a Universal film as well:

We need Arnie’s End of Days to get a remaster. And I feel Shout!/Scream! are the studio to do it. I don’t see Universal stepping it up anytime soon

Like BarnDoor said, both Scream Factory and Criterion like Cronenberg, so while I COULD see Criterion doing it, I honestly think that if it were licensed out, it's more likely that SF would've gotten it, especially considering the nature of the other titles they've confirmed so far.

I do hope this means that Criterion does have a deal with Paramount, and it's not just a one-off. There's so many titles in that library that still need a disc release...

I'll throw my hat in the ring for the two Raimis as well. Both The Gift and A Simple Plan need Blu-Rays...

End of Days was the first movie I took my daughter to.

She was a week old and slept through the whole thing.

And this is one of the major reasons why I don't go to the theater much.

In your daughter's defense it was hard for me not to sleep through it when I was 20.

Hahaha, oh man, I remember living in a dorm at that time and going into town to watch it with a friend. We were so disappointed by it that we told everyone afterwards it was the greatest Arnie movie ever. We just did not want to be the only ones having been suckered in to pay for tickets to it.

Ha! What's basically "Arnold Schwarzenegger vs The Devil" could have been the craziest, most over the top and fun movie ever but they play it so straight. It's just kinda dull.
