Cliff - Great job on the Halloween 2 blu-ray! Looking forward to picking up more titles from the Scream Factory line.

GHOST STORY (1981) would be right up Scream's alley. Good movie, but there were plenty of deleted scenes and alternate endings unused (it was all mentioned in a Cinefantastique article back in the day) that would make for a spectacular special edition!

For those interested, seeing as it was requested SF do a blu-ray of it, I did a bunch of screencaps off of the Slumber Party Massacre showing on EpixHD that I'll post later this afternoon. I watched it again last night and aside from the first 6-7 minutes or so and some scattered shots here and there it didn't look that bad, pretty decent in parts actually.

Cliff said somewhere in this thread that they won't be doing a SPM blu release...

Another thought... since I think it is a public domain movie... how about "Last Man on Earth"?

Man, I would love Shout Factory to get ahold of some nice 80's fantasy movies, like: Hawk the Slayer, Sword & the Sorcerer, etc...
I know they are not of the Horror genre(actually that would depend on how you define Horror ). But after following all these SF release threads, these upcoming movies all look really good...and I'm not a big Horror fan!!!
Maybe SF can create a spin-off company that handles 80's Fantasy flicks!
Definitely keep up the great work guys!

I know, but he said it was because the print or negative was too damaged, but i wanted to give people an idea of how it actually looks in hd.

No worries, Scream Factory is just a new sub label that Shout has created specifically for these horror titles.

Slumber Party Massacre HD screencaps from EpixHD showing for those interested in how it looks in high definition.

I wanted to capture both the good and the bad of how it looks. There are 11 caps, so click on the spoiler if you have the bandwidth. Keep in mind a couple shots show interlacing combing; and these were from my Hauppauge HDPVR recording on maximum settings, but they aren't 1:1 with the original broadcast. These were also from the on demand showing which has a lower bit rate, but no Epix logo on the screen to distract.
Keep in mind the screencaps look better before uploading them (these look maybe 60-70% as good as the originals) and it looks better in motion.

Ahh I see. Will the label still exist after these titles are released? Or is that it? Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for sharing these screencaps! It's definitely a nice comparison but I think overall, Shout made the right choice in just sticking with the DVD set. A Blu-ray edition of the trilogy would have been great to own but I agree with Shout that it would have done little to the overall presentation of the films. A shame that the elements just weren't in the kind of condition to lend itself to a solid transition to Blu but considering the majority of the Corman films were in pretty bad shape when Shout took over, it's a real miracle we got so many in the terrific way we did.

I imagine as long as the titles continue to sell and do good business for Shout, I see no reason from a business prospective to put the brakes on it. I certainly hope the line goes on forever haha

Yes, most definitely! As I mentioned I'm not the biggest horror fan and I've already got Halloween II on order, and I'm thinking about getting Halloween III & Terror Train.
I like the extras that SF is including on these releases, and I really like the retro-style coverart. Again that's coming from someone who only has a about a dozen horror titles in a collection of almost 800.
Keep up the good work SF, you might turn me into a diehard horror fan yet!

Some titles Scream may announce...

Serpent and the Rainbow
Sssssss
Cat People
The Car
Firestarter
The Thing
Prince of Darkness
Village of the Damned
Kingdom of the Spiders
The Sentinel
Shocker
People Under the Stairs
Army of Darkness
Duel
Raising Cain

I would be all over all of these, but especially the titles in blue.
