Really hoping for She which is the last really big Hammer not on Blu-ray in the US (with Curse of Frankenstein coming from WAC soon). Viking Queen and Slave Girls would be appreciated as well since they are OOP in the US on DVD and no BDs here. As for Paranoiac and Nightmare, there would have to be some decent special features for me to rebuy them as I have the Universal set and neither are super memorable IMO. |

I agree that it is a bit premature to say Scream is in trouble but honestly, they do seem to be the label that was most affected. Vinegar Syndrome, Arrow, Severin, Blue Underground, Kino, Criterion, have all been pretty much unaffected.

So My October Shout Order showed up today unannounced. My status on Shout's website never changed from "Order Taken" until today when the package arrived. I never received a shipping e-mail or any alert it was on it's way so for folks still waiting, there's still hope your order will show up any day as well.

As I sadly near the end of the first Naschy set (thankfully I still have the second set to watch still) Human Beasts came out of my unwatched pile tonight.
It starts out as "The Most Dangerous Game" as filmed as a Yakuza revenge; thriller written, directed by and starting Naschy. Of course it turns far more sinister and absurd. I think this is my favorite from this set! (of course, one film remains...) |

When a dog is the best actor and it's an Italian production; you know it's essential for your collection. RIP Chester. |

Contamination .7 is going OOP so I'm ordering today. There is something intriguing about a film that has had that many different titles and, although unrelated, is sometimes marketed as a sequel to Troll 2. I also find the .7 hilarious since my first instinct is anything numbered <1 is an unfinished version.

The Keep came up during one of Michael Felsher's (Red Shirt Pictures) Facebook streams, earlier today.
Paraphrasing / inferring: - "Michael Mann insists that he be involved with it." - "He likes to really dig in, really do it up and spend a lot of money." - It's questionable whether Paramount is willing to spend a lot of money on a title that may not make a lot of money. - Michael Mann is a revisionist, and it's not clear whether a new version of the film would qualify as a new entity or not. - The Tangerine Dream score may have to be re-cleared. - From 2nd-hand stories, Michael Mann is a nightmare to work with. A couple of interesting comments from Frank Tarzi (Kino) were also posted. 2020-11-12_17-36-53.jpg 2020-11-12_17-42-29.jpg I don't think Shout! Factory ever announced The Keep, so I'm not sure if that was a slip of the |

Well he has every right to want to fix The Keep as Paramount really did a number on it. It has some truly awful editing in some scenes. It definitely feels butchered. At least he’s willing to do something with it, unlike Lynch with Dune.

Maybe it would be better if Criterion had gone after The Keep, as they've shown with The Tree of Life, they are willing to spend a lot to dig up footage and re-edit a movie.

This is my guess. None of the Arkoff titles had ever been released in 16x9 before. The DVDs are 4x3 fullscreen. Day The World Ended was shot in the wider Superscope and released on DVD in widescreen, but it was 4x3 letterbox. Scream thought the "widescreen master" that was available was 16x9 and then discovered it was letterbox. So they pulled it, either to create a new 16x9 master, or cancelled altogether because they don't want to bother with it. I'm willing to bet the Superscope aspect ratio has something to do with it. Hope they continue with Blood of Dracula, She Creature, Brain Eaters and The Undead. Would love Machine Gun Kelly but Scream may skip it because it's not Horror/Sci-Fi. Does star Charles Bronson though.
