I liked the new Rabid film more than RAW personally though I wouldn't hold up either as torchbearers of modern independent cinema. Both are most forgettable affairs (though still worth a watch at least once).

![]() ![]() There was alternate artwork for RAW that seemed to be used equally as often that they could have used but I believe the yellow artwork was the most widely utilized (though I may have be wrong). You are correct though in that "bothered is a bit strong as it doesn't bother me in the traditional sense, however I feel that both films are better than what the copycat style of poster implies as we have an entire thread here on the forum devoted to similar looking poster designs and a great many of those are for trully terrible films. |

In addition to the Warner Brothers titles, I wouldn't be surprised to see some more from the Brightstar catalog, which would include American Nightmare (and a possible re-release of Humongous). |

This was such a change of pace for David Cronenberg at the time, and I'm always struck by just how low-key and wonderfully done it is. More than that, through the directing, performances, score and that wintry, effectively bleak cinematography, it's a legitimately haunting film. The cast - including Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Anthony Zerbe and Herbert Lom - is splendid, and I love that brief but memorable encounter with Colleen Dewhurst ("You knew, didn't you? You knew.") and Martin Sheen at his most terrifying ("The missiles are flying. Hallelujah...hallelujah."). But it's an ideally-cast Christopher Walken, in one of his most beautifully tragic and understated performances, that truly makes the movie...that pale, pained face speaks volumes. |

While we wait for May when they can release special editions of Paramount films like Explorers, Dragonslayer, and Young Sherlock Holmes (not everyone is a slasher completist), they should trickle out some more Corman titles like Summer School Teachers, Chatterbox, and everything from the Lethal Ladies and Nurses DVDs.

Warner possibilities ideal for Scream:
Alone in the Dark Eyes of a Stranger Deadly Friend Killer Party Communion He Knows You're Alone Campfire Tales A Return to Salem's Lot The Awakening (1980) House of Wax (2005) Altered States The Hand Dreamcatcher Feardotcom Wicked, Wicked Welcome to Arrow Beach The Todd Killings Scream would probably jump at the chance to license titles WB have previously released too, and churn out collector's edditions loaded with extras. Whether Warner would be open to this, who knows. Cat's Eye Salem's Lot The Cell Night School Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III Looker The Hidden Innocent Blood Wolfen Don't Be Afraid of the Dark etc... Then there are classic era horrors that Warner might be less likely to license, and this list is extensive. Probably better suited for the Archive Collection. But then again they licensed Mark of The Vampire, The Leopard Man, The Body Snatcher, Isle of the Dead, etc. to them. Children of the Damned (1964) I Walked with a Zombie (1943) The Beast with Five Fingers (1946) Stage Fright (1950) The Hypnotic Eye (1960) Freaks (1932) Chamber of Horrors (1966) Eye of the Devil (1967) Devil Doll (1964) (?) The Frozen Dead (1966) Phantom of the Rue Morgue (1954) Brainstorm (1965) The Ghost Ship (1943) (?) The Seventh Victim (1943) Bedlam (1946) The Disembodied (1957) Macabre (1958) Hands of a Stranger (1962) Tormented (1960) Black Zoo (1963) The Snow Devils (1967) The Shuttered Room (1967) The Sorcerers (1967) The Power (1968) It! (1967) etc... Also, someone really needs to release After Hours and Night Shift. Last edited by Lacrimosa; 12-15-2020 at 03:08 PM. Reason: The Exorcist prequels are now with Sony and The Night Flier is with Richard Rubenstein |

I think WB also lost the rights to Campfire Tales. Not sure who Communion currently resides with either, given Image once released it on DVD.

I wish the Westchester Films website was still functional, or properly archived at archive.org, because I can't recall if this was one of the films from that catalog. The most recent DVD was from Hen's Tooth and still appears to be in-print. I don't have it and can't find a scan of the back cover, but their packaging often indicates who the licensor of a film was.
