I rewatched The Exorcist just two nights ago, and it's still very disturbing.

LOL.

The reason horror movies rarely scare us anymore is because we're freakin' old.

We've all had way too many experiences in life and in horror movies that we are already conditioned. We expect jump scares, loud noises piss us off cause they hurt our ears or blow the speakers, screaming is annoying, gore is just fun cause we love how they make it, even atmosphere, creepiness, and buildup we've experienced so while its appreciated, we will never truly be "scared" unless new stimulus is presented.

Occasionally a jump scare will get me, Paranormal Activity 3 had two, and Crawl got me once...and those are fun. I think the last movies that "scared me" were when J-horror was new.

I absolutely just watch horror for fun now. I do find good intensity in some, especially when you care for the characters. But I get the same feeling from good action movies.

But it doesn't mean these movies are "not scary". For kids, all these modern and old movies still hold that gold.

There was actually a jump scare in Don't Panic that got me recently! It was fun.

I hope this isn't true: Disney is rumored to be looking to purchase MGM

We Got This Covered is arguably one of the least trustworthy sites so I wouldn't put much stock in this. True, MGM has been looking for a seller but I don't imagine Disney being in the running.

It would have to be approved, so thats as easy as politicians paid off. But sometimes they surprise me.....politics is usually pretty predictable...but sometimes....they'll probably say its "for the children" as they pocket the cash.

However, Hollywood Studios theme park at Disney World used to be MGM Studios at Disney sooooo...maybe they have an in.

Film producers don’t try hard enough to make horror films scary. Child’s Play 2 and Nightmare on Elm Street 3 have the potential to be scary but producers ruined it by making the antagonist comical. Another very important ingredient in horror films is the music score. Jerry Goldsmith did an awesome job with The Omen score and that film is much scarier than The Exorcist which has a very mediocre musical score. Add to the fact that The Exorcist was ruined by funny moments in the film.

Is there any type of rumor or news or something that a nightmare on elm street box set is coming from scream factory? because the transfers of the currant blu ray box set are garbage.

There's been a rumor since the first Warner deal was inked.
With the Friday set coming together last year I'd assume they'd like a repeat of those profits.

In that e-mail from about 6-8 weeks ago Shout mentioned there being new site exclusive titles coming in March and April. Per recent trends, I was expecting them to be announced last week, given they'd be given an official release date of 27th April, the last release window of the month.

If they're still coming in April, I suppose they might be revealed today or tomorrow. Otherwise they might have slipped, though if they were coming next week say I'd still expect them to go up for order later in the week anyway.

Hoping for Battletruck more than anything else. Grotesque would be awesome too, even if it's not demo material. I hear there are issues with the elements on that one.

I got on Reddit 2 or 3 times on the blu-ray and boutique blu ray pages, nothing else is like it is here.

What were the March exclusives? Last I remember were in February.

Responding to today's discussion...

Horror movies don't actually scare me. I am not six years old anymore.

Some of them do burrow into my psyche, though, and generate a true sense of unease.

Lake Mungo is one such example. A lot of people watch it and think, "That was no big deal.", but it creeped me out quite a lot.

The Big Bust-Out and Amazons / Barbarian Queen were March releases.

I watched it for the first time recently. There were aspects of it that reminded me of
[Show spoiler]Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
, which also is a creepy movie, even though it's not completely a horror movie.

If as Barndoor mentioned we get another Shoutfactory.com exclusive or two we could hear that in the next 24-48hrs, otherwise the next official round of announcements likely won't be revealed until on/around May 10th (though they could come on the 6th or 7th as well). Shout Factory has been slow to announce things as of late and have been closer to the 10th than the 1st... with the 10th being a Monday this seems to make the most sense but also raises the likelihood that some/all titles may be spoiled by retailer listings. Either way we have at least 2 more weeks to wait.
