Doubtful. Scream got Day of the Dead (and Knightriders) from Taurus Films, the rights to Dawn are owned by another company, MKR Group. Perhaps someone else could shed some light on MKR?

I think it is possible, depending on who own the actual rights. They could go after it, unless they're interested in releasing it themselves, selling it, or subbing it out to another company such as Synapse.

I wouldn't rule much out, especially something like this.

New Amsterdam Media has it. They are headed out on New York City. lol. I love the power of Google!
Seems as if they work with MKR group as they are listed in the footer.

Here is the link:
http://www.newamsterdamnyc.com/#!dawn-of-the-dead/c1lcm

and a quote from their site:

First released theatrically in the U.S. on May 24, 1979, “George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead” is licensed by New Amsterdam in all media in the USA, English Canada, United Kingdom, Australia/New Zealand, and Latin America. Specific media is available upon request. (High Definition Master)

FYI, Kickstarter for "Manos: The Hands of Fate" is projected to be released on DVD & BD in the summer. Its been in production for a while, and this is great news.

I'm not sure, a lot of the movies they're featuring seem to be with bigger companies like Warner and Paramount. I do not know how willing they would be to work with Shout, if at all. For all we know they may have already talked or are already in talks with them. Or the exact opposite, again assuming that New Amsterdam does have it.

You think shout could possibly get any of these titles from Universal
Slither
Army of Darkness (with all the version like the new foriegn releases)
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Land of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead (Snyder version)
Dead Silence
Virus
Cat People
Shocker
Darkman Trilogy
Dracula (1979)
SSSSSSS (uncut?)
Village of the Damned (Carpenter)
Matinee
Tremors Series

Personally I would love Shout/Scream Factory forever if they got the rights to either "Dark Side of the Moon" (1990) or "Moontrap" (1989). Both movies are guilty pleasure titles I loved to rent and watch at least once or twice a year during the VHS era.

From what I read on the IMDB forums the likelihood of "Moontrap" ever being released on anything but it's current OOP VHS format, lets just say I probably have a better chance of being elected the next Pope of Rome, due to some weird legal issues with the movie.

hypothetical question, What is one public domain horror movie that you would love to see on Blu-ray? Its not necessarily linked to Scream Factory, Im just curious. that you might hope Scream would release.

Silent Night, Bloody Night
will never happen but a special edition made with the participation of Mary Woronov release in it's original ratio and watchable would make me happy...

I love Shout/Scream Factory. So many great titles coming soon from them that I can't wait for, such as The Amityville Horror Trilogy set, The Burning, The Fog, Swamp Thing. Not to mention the kickass covers they use. I really wish more studios would put as much care into releases as they seem to.

Namely, the covers we all want to kick their asses for.

You know, a Scream Factory release of Shocker makes sense. Actually, that would probably be next in line if Shout makes a new deal with Universal.

Have you heard of the remake coming out later this year? Silent Night, Bloody Night: The Homecoming.

i would and will double dip on halloween whenever its gets released for blu ray. last october they were screening the new 4k scan of halloween around the country. i had a chance to check it out and it was incredible.

what i really want to see is scream get there hands on halloween 6 and finally see a offical release of the producers cut. i know this is highly unlikely for several reasons but i can hope.

I thought it was filmed in widescreen, but cropped to that aspect ratio for theaters. Maybe I've lost my mind, but I could've sworn that was the case!

I have been thinking for awhile that there aren't many PD movies on blu-ray, and I have seriously considered putting out a bd of NOTLD, and I would have done the widescreen, slightly cropped, version on the same disc as the non-widescreen OAR version. I debated it but ultimately thought that there might be a better place to start. I did get a hold on a nice Last Man on Earth reel, but I passed and sold it. I'm really unsure about where to start, from a monetary standpoint.

Yup, Shocker and People Under the Stairs seem like sure-fire Scream releases. Cliff already said no to Dracula, unfortunately.
