100% agree. A well made feature length doc/making of is far more interesting than multiple talking head segments in nearly every example I've seen. It's rare that a 30 minute interview holds my attention for the full length of time and/or that I want to watch all of them when there are several included, however when that info is assembled into one cohesive making of/Doc that pulls the best bits from all the interviews, it's rare that I don't watch them several times.

I've noticed that as Scream Factory has moved away from some of the bigger/better production companies those sorts of features have become more and more uncommon.

Agreed. Horror's Hallowed Grounds aren't always great, but they are usually fairly short and more interesting than what a great deal of folks have to say in the more traditional 1 on 1 interviews.

I like "then & now" movie location featurettes. What I don't like is looking at parking lots or Starbucks as places that have replaced old movie spots. You've seen one parking lot you've seen 'em all

As for making-of docs, Laurent Bouzereau produced a lot of great ones for Laserdisc and then DVD - all feature-length and fascinating. Those days are LONG gone. Rob Zombie is the only one making 2+ hour docs (or at least used to).

I miss Horror's Hallowed Grounds as well. Those were my favorite extras on Scream Factory blu rays, when they were included.

I should say that I sort-of miss them. Sean Clark has continued to film Horror's Hallowed Grounds episodes; he uploads them on YouTube now. He's branched out beyond horror to cover other films, like the Bill & Ted series and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He's added some of his older, Scream-extra segments to his YouTube channel, as well.

To get a sense of how good Clark is, try watching some of the "horror movie locations" films made by others that are available on YouTube (there are many of them). Clark's are made by film-making professionals (himself included); many of the others are strictly amateur-hour.

I have tried watching others. Most are painful to watch but I think Clarke's personality is what makes me have a hard time watching his stuff. I would rather just see the places with voice over than have this guy on screen.

With editing all the interviews into one long doc I am sure it comes down to money. Having to pay someone to sit for a week to put it all together so I am sure it is much cheaper to just put a trimmed down interview on there. I guess in their eye's it is more the merrier when it comes to extras then. I am sure if we got the cut down interviews in one doc there would be many screaming for more of certain people. So either way they lose!

I am happy with most any extra as long as it is not some youtube host or podcast person doing it. There are some who have knowledge on the genre but most barely know enough to do a standard podcast or youtube show. Look how many do reviews of blu rays and don't even know 80% of the movies they are talking about. But people seem to not care and will still donate money to these types.

I wish more companies would put some more effort into the quality of the extras. For me it is a huge selling point of buying disc.

I wonder if he's been asked about Dragonslayer, Ghost and the Darkness and Fire in the Sky...

Saw a low-stock alert for Dead Space this morning. Thank goodness I was actually planning to order it and Day the World Ended today. Right on time.

I would be shocked if Fire in the Sky doesn't get a release from Shout. Ghost in the Darkness seems probable, but not guaranteed. Dragonslayer will probably get a release from Paramount or Shout at some point, but I would say it's the least probable for a Shout release of the three. Either way, hope all three get releases soon!

Hope that's a twofer with Raimi's The Gift. Makes sense to me.

So cool they are releasing Alligator and Sword and the Sorcerer on UHD 4K.

Next, they should get Company of Wolves, Demolition Man, Clash of the Titans, Assault on Precinct 13 and more on UHD 4K Collector's Editions as those would be bestsellers.

Assault on Precinct 13 might be coming. The company Deaf Crocodile has been restoring it in 4K and keeping their thread on this website updated. The Fog and The Howling are coming too.

I also want to see them do 4Ks of In The Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned (1994), Vampires, and Ghosts of Mars from John Carpenter. I would say Big Trouble in Little China, but that'd be wishful thinking that Disney would play ball with the 4K rights. Maybe if Carpenter intervenes.

How did you get it so cheap? Did you have a coupon of some sort? I haven't seen it cheaper than $39.99, which still is pretty good.

I wonder what their Hammer Films line-up will be after NIGHTMARE (1964) is released in March.

Obviously Captain Clegg can't be far away, though I'm really hoping to see Hysteria and Crescendo.

Captain Clegg, I hope so.

Spaceways, The Men of Sherwood Forest, The Nanny, She, Hysteria, A Challenge
for Robin Hood (I love it), The Anniversary, Crescendo and Moon Zero Two.

And let's not forget Hammer's noir's from the late 1940s through mid-1950s.
Really modest films but they would make fine double-features or several box-
sets. Some of them were directed by Terence Fisher himself.

Watched the Temp and Whispers in the Dark today. Whispers in the Dark actually looked quite good and often times felt like a new remaster despite being an older master. The Temp was clearly an older master, but wasn't horrible looking by any stretch of the imagination. Either way, glad to finally have these two on Blu-ray. Hopefully Scream keeps knocking these Paramount titles out.

Does Scream still have a contract with Sony? I saw the 80’s crime slasher “Out of the Dark” was put up on Vudu as HD with Sony listed as the studio. I would like to see that on disc someday.
