This is part of the same wave as Captain Clegg (Night Creatures), Happy Death Day UHD's, Candyman UHD, and others. They're almost certainly being announced this week, and I'd guess today.

Oh interesting. I haven't seen the back of the release so I have no idea what it says. Would it not be the same rights holder as Halloween (2007/2009)?

No idea. It seems the rights for that one are more complicated? This is what one person posted about it

There was also a bunch of lawsuits behind the scenes with this film. Rodriguez sued for around $8 million at one point (he withdrew this without explanation). The Russian producers on the film later sued him for about the same amount (never heard if there was an outcome to this). Doubt any of this would affect who holds the rights. Maddartico LTD was one of the companies Rodriguez sued, they were set-up only for the purpose of Sin City 2 and I'm not sure who exactly is behind them (maybe the Russians?), but they were dissolved as a company in 2016.

And here's the back cover:

It's got a copyright of 2014 Maddartico LTD marketed by Shout!Factory LLC.

The logos for The Weinstein Company / Miramax Films / Dimension Films / TroubleMaker Studios and Aldamisa Pictures are in the back. It really does not state who they licensed/got it from really. So, my assumption the rights for this particular title are held by Maddartico LTD.

Thanks for the info! I would have guessed they would still be in the same hands. It might be one of Rodriguez's companies. Here's an article from 2014 mentioning it.

Quote:
The suit was filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday by Rodriguez and his affiliate companies against Sergei Bespalov, Marina Bespalov, Maddartico Limited, Vrelonovama LLC, Aldamisa Entertainment and SC2 Productions.

Have a feeling Candyman UHD may not be announced with this wave. It doesn't seem to have an Amazon placeholder page, or was leaked by importCD's, and Bullmoose like the other April leaks. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Some Amazon placeholder pages:

Cursed
Night Creatures
Happy Death Day UHD
Happy Death Day 2U UHD

Could this mean that Paramount are now sub-licencing Dimension/Miramax titles to Shout? Interesting development if so.
Man, I hope we start getting a roll-out of the Dimension titles. The Faculty, The Crow, eXistenZ, Teaching Mrs. Tingle and more would be amazing, not to mention UHDs of the Halloween films.

Doesn't Arrow currently have the rights to Hellraiser in NA? Or did the license expire already?

Both the Zombie films are with Lionsgate now, unfortunately.

Probably not, Lionsgate bought the post 2005 dimension catalog, it came with the Weinstein company assets. I found a new Lionsgate pressing of Rob Zombies Halloween in a Walmart last year with a 2021 copyright date and the Lionsgate logo on it.

They have Hellraiser and Hellbound. I don't think they have NA rights to Hellraiser III (at least anymore) and they never seem to have had rights to these.

This seems to be a good reference for which movies in the franchise are with Miramax:

Hellraiser: Hellworld just makes it in being released in September 2005.

Yep, both films have the Lionsgate logo on streaming services (such as Tubi) in the US.

Interestingly enough, the versions in Canada have no Lionsgate logo or branding anywhere to be seen. If LG doesn't have the films in Canada for whatever reasons, that may be an avenue for Scream to go after.

I don't want to get my hopes up yet as far as Shout making a deal with Dimension but if they have, boy, these will be interesting - and exciting - times. I'm still not clear on what is owned by Paramount/Miramax and what isn't. Someone said Lionsgate owns the library post 2005 and that's OK because I can't think of a single Dimension film post 2005 I need on Blu-ray but there are lots of admittedly schlocky titles prior to 2005 I'd love to see get Collector's Editions (like the Children of the Corn sequels and at least Hellraiser IV). Fingers crossed.

If there are movie gods out there, if Shout has made a deal with Paramount for the Dimension films, please release Sonatine for Shout Select. Easily my favorite Japanese film from the 90's.

Only new extra for Happy Death Day is commentary. If that's the same case for the sequel, then those will be a easy skip.
