I'm guessing that triggered a hold for a review.

Same here. I wish they would have at least added some extras for Blood of the Vampire though. The old Jimmy Sangster/Robert S. Baker audio commentary from the old Dark Sky DVD was quite good.

It would have been a good double-feature to pair with The Brain Eaters, instead of making them 2 separately overpriced barebones exclusives.

EDIT: Actually, I completely forgot that Nucleus are releasing a packed UK Blu-ray of Blood of the Vampire: https://www.nucleusfilms.com/blood-o...e-blu-ray.html

I cancelled that part of the order, so I'll wait for that one instead.

I've always liked it. I had read Whitley Strieber's Communion book when it first came out back in 1987, and it scared the hell out of me at 12 years old... especially as I had just seen a UFO literally a year previously. The book's "cover" alone was something that most people back then were unfamiliar with having seen before, unlike today where its commonplace. That cover was just sinister looking in 1987.

I think the later film worked quite well compared to the book. There were some subtle changes, but it doesn't stray that far from it. Does the film look dated now? Definitely, but it's still fairly creepy.

I too hate this model, especially since I'm ordering from Canada and shipping is a *****... also easy to miss a release completely since they are so limited.

I notice that these two new exclusives don't have posters either. Maybe SF has phased out posters for site exclusives.

Did they do that more than once?

I'm wondering why SF didn't bother with any extras for Blood of the Vampire, while the Nucleus version is packed. I want to get that one but its release date is just over two months away. So I'm very tempted to go with SF. And I'll probably end up getting both. Patience is not a virtue for me, unfortunately.

What site exclusives had posters? I have a few and none of them ever offered a poster. Posters are usually for Collector's Edition pre-orders from the site.

Day the World Ended had a poster, though it ships folded.

Already received my shipment from the Valentine's Day Sale. Picked up Bones, Creepshow, Day Of The Dead, Deadly Friend, Night Of The Creeps, Shocker, & Tales From The Hood. Wasn't expecting everything to be shipped so fast that was very nice. Also picked up Creepshow 2 on Amazon to go along with it as I seen it's $15 with their coupon, which I just checked they still have if anyone still needs that.

Regarding BLOOD OF THE VAMPIRE, I assume that the Nucleus release will be region-locked for region 2? If so, I'll stick with the Scream release.

Yeah, my mistake there. The Day the World Ended came with a poster and I assumed that SF would do that for all of them from then on, but apparently I was wrong. I figured for the high price of the exclusives and the fact they're so bare-bones, surely SF would include a poster going forward, but I guess it was just a one-off. That's what I get for assuming.

P. S. — I wonder if The Day the World Ended was maybe planned to be a collector's edition, SF commissioned a poster, and then changed plans. Just speculating.

I think you are right on this. I believe a long time ago, a couple of years or more?, when Scream was releasing a lot of the older films as standard line releases, THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED was soft-announced as the next one or soon, but I believe it was canceled because of slowish sales on the earlier old films like "The Spider", etc.

But they are finally putting it out as one of their web exclusives, where they can sell "less" copies, but charge more, and cut out the middle-man. So they profit on these "lesser films" (and I don't mean that derogatorily) by doing them on their own site instead. Probably had these posters laying around for a couple of years now.

I've bought all their site exclusives (the limited to site only ones) and plan on continuing. I know they are more costly than standard releases, but I do like these films, the money goes to SF directly to release more films, and I wait to combine two (if only one comes out) to at least get free shipping, because I do pay tax.

Quick question regarding dances with wolves. I have the original theatrical cut of dances with wolves released on dvd by Orion. They did two releases, a 2 disc set with dots and the single disc theatrical which contains an audio commentary by Costner and maybe the producer. Is this commentary exclusively on this release or was it repurposed and extended for the longer cut and does this original version appear on shouts steelbook release, which may be the only way to get the theatrical on blu in the states?

Any info will be appreciated

I hope it does get a re-release--by the time I found out about it, it was already sold out and I'm not paying great sums from ebay sellers to acquire it.

I wouldn't mind another shot at getting Velvet Vampire and Up from the Depths on Blu. They were low priority when they were released since I already have them on DVD, but now I'm interested in upgrading those two films.

Shout did mention to me that were considering re-releases of previous Corman stuff, so it's definitely possible. I specifically reached out to them about Attack of the Crab Monsters. They said their exclusives are booked up for the first part of the year, so it would have to be beyond that. They definitely seem to be putting out site exclusives more frequently now.
